  1. KW should be fired for the lack of balls to blow this mediocre team up.
  2. Omar got all of that...and it didn't go 300 feet
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 01:09 AM) Tiggers already battering around Colby Lewis. Lucky to only have given up a couple of runs so far, in all honesty. That Tigers offense is so damn deep
  4. Viciedo back in AAA. Let's see them continue to make excuses not to call him up.
  5. Looking at our lineup, even if you included Konerko, it makes you wonder how KW thought this team was going to compete the last two months.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) A 3.6 WAR 4 months into the season is not "blah", it's good for 30th in baseball and has made him worth $16.1M this season. He's also hitting .338/.410/.527/.937 this season in close and late situations and .333/.385/.563/.949 in high leverage situations, he's been huge when it has counted most. One of the last players we should be b****ing about is Alexei. It's not worth it. He'll try to downgrade any player on the roster who wasn't here in 2005 in order to make it look like Ozzie has nothing to work with.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Every player will have a bad play, a bad at bat just a bad day period, but Lillibridge has contributed with sac bunts, good fielding plays and clutch hits on more than one occassion plus he has moved around to maybe 6 different positions this season. I am trying to remember when Rios has delivered? Maybe he has, but he has sucked so bad and for so long this year it's hard to remember anything positive. There hasn't been one game this year where I felt Rios was the difference maker in a win.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Yes. Most AL managers don't bunt and play for 1 run before the 4th inning of a game. While down 3 runs
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) I honestly think Ozzie has a real problem with young white players. I don't know why though... Obviously he's a fan of Konerko and Thome, but they're veterans. And I think it's a pretty damn well established fact that Ozzie prefer's Vets over Rookies/Young Players. It's just another in a long series of issues that should be resolved with his firing/trading to Miami.... It's hard to tell what the issue is, but I think it more has to do with the fact that we have such a lack of latino players in our system, we don't really get a chance to see how Ozzie relates to them. Most of the young guys we've called up during the Ozzie era are just mediocre white players. I think it's more that Ozzie just prefers veteran players.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Spoken anonymously on the Internet. This statement really enhances discussion. Guillen is not a redneck. I like his passion when he fights back and says how rich he is. He's one of those rare managers/coaches who is willing to say anything interesting. How many are there willing to stand up for themselves? There was Ditka. There's Ozzie. Piniella was colorful. Some of them were back in the day like Weaver, Lasorda Most are plastic puppets. I love Ozzie's feistiness. Ozzie is all talk. He's an absolute coward on the field. Examples are not benching players when they don't hustle to not retaliating when his players get hit. For all the talk about how "crazy" he is, he's a pretty damn conservative manager.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) 2nd round pick no less. But hey, it's ok that we can never find guys like this. Dreaded draft position and everything. Tons of other teams missed on him. I have no beef with the Sox not having him, as they've taken a chance on someone with a similar pedigree in Trayce Thompson. It's the pathetic picks like Phegley and MAC closers that really piss me off.
  12. Wow, the attendance was only 24k tonight? That's absolutely pathetic. Seems like our fans threw in the towel after Tuesday Tigers game.
  13. Hey Ozzie, even if you got the bunt down, Morel's line drive would not have scored any runs. Hell, Morel probably hits the ball far enough to score a run on a sac fly about 2 out of every 10 times.
  14. Rios seems pissed about being "benched". I love him so much, he's such a pleasure to root for http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3792857.story
  15. Watch Kenny just give Buehrle away for basically free (if he declines the option that would vest) so he can try to get another WS ring.
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:44 AM) Don't remind me. This past trade deadline just truly disgusted me. This roster is loaded with corpses for years to come and there was a rare opportunity to truly impact that future. Yesterday and the Thome walkoff homer against Thornton last year were the two worst days for being a Sox fan (in my view) since 2006. I'm probably missing some other big moments though.
  17. I'd let the team take Thornton. 14 million so left on his deal I believe at this point, and that's too much for someone who can't close.
  18. I blame De Aza. We lost last Wednesday's game, and KW is probably more willing to sell.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) What was terrific about Jake's start? He gave up 8 hits in 7 innings and three runs. It was solid, but not terrific. STFU Hawk. Yep, and it gave breathing room to a pitcher who excels in situations like that. I sure am glad we kept playing for one run with the bunt.
  20. Overmatched....I hate this team, at least 2007 had the excitement of Fields during the 2nd half.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:38 AM) There's a reason some of us were not against White Flag II. We don't want the Sox to lose, we just understood the recent run was a mirage. Way too much reliance by some people on here of guys like Dunn and Rios turning their seasons around after they haven't shown one sign of life all season. The season will be over for the Sox by Sunday, and then we'll have to pray for some waiver deals.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) Ed Wade. Jim Hendry. MacPhail. Those are clearly the three worst. KW is in that second-tier. MacPhail made some good moves in the last week, and J.J. Hardy has been a stud. He just had no prayer with his young starting rotation not living up to the hype.
  23. The thing that baffles me is that if Kenny thought this team was close enough not to sell off players, why the heck didn't he try to get a piece or two to help this offense? I'm not talking superstar addition, but at least someone who can maybe hit the ball out of a Little League park.
