QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 05:16 AM) I kind of want to see Albert up there with two outs. They won't pitch to him

2011 TV Thread
I still have no idea what is supposed to be interesting/funny about James Spader character on The Office. Can't believe how terrible the casting decisions were of him and Ashton Kutcher on Two and a Half Men.

The most pathetic thing yesterday was when radio personalities were gushing over Theo saying "we will go the extra mile".

Funny thing is Aramis is the type of player that Theo would typically dislike. Also, this tweet by Levine is so ridiculous. After Hendry was fired, Aramis acted like that was the only GM he wanted to play for.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Anything that put Frank in a Sox uniform again would make me happy. If Big Mac can do it, then the Big Hurt could certainly do it. How so? McGwire was always known as a great teammate. Frank...not so much

Sandberg would easily take the Cubs job for the reason balta mentions....a ton of endorsement opportunities

Pieces to start moving soon
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Like say, "Wow, we really didn't give a s*** for the last 4 years"? It really makes you wonder just what the hell Reinsdorf is thinking and how scary it is how much trust he's put into Kenny and Ozzie, etc.

2011 Cubs Thread
Theo is loved now by the Cubs fans, and they'll love him more when he names Sandberg the manager in a week. If he goes on to sign Pujols or Prince when free agency starts...say goodbye to any casual Chicago fan being interested in the Sox. It's pathetic, yet true.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) Part of his policy is not to talk about what they have to spend. Is another part of his policy to project which underachieving players out there could excel if pumped with steroids?

I didn't listen to the press conference, but did he mention anything about what type of budget they'd have for their Major League team?

2011 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) Unfortunately, after the compensation is done for Theo and Hoyer, Theo will have very, very little available to develop in the Cubs system. It is already just about as bad as the Sox have. That's so not true after the draft they just had. At least three of their draft picks would be our top prospect, and that doesn't include B. Jackson.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 05:36 PM) This is really bothering you, isn't it? It's true though, you would have thought that Theo meant the Cubs were bringing in Pujols, Fielder, CC, Buehrle, etc today. The hype is absolutely ridiculous for Theo right now.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 05:51 AM) Agreed. I don't think Clemson will make it through unscathed. USC is their biggest obstacle the rest of the way. Clemson's offense will DESTROY GT this weekend.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) The Cardinals simply won't be signing Mark unless he's close to the league minimum. Either they're blowing $28 million a year on keeping a fairly good 1b or they're rebuilding. Cardinals aren't going to be rebuilding with that pitching staff locked up and Holliday/Berkman/Molina/Freese all returning. If they don't get Fielder, they'll spend that money on a few pieces like Cuddyer and Furcal, etc.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) I'd like to see the Blue Jays sign Pujols. Wasn't that discussed? Only teams I see Pujols leaving Cardinals for are Yankees, Red Sox or Cubs. No way could I picture him going to a small market team.

2011 World Series Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) I'll be very disappointed if he signs in Florida. It doesn't make any sense with all of the things he's said in the past, except that it'd be the National League. He wouldn't have much of a chance to win there, it's much further from home than Chicago, and it probably wouldn't even net him more money. And let's face it, Marlins fans are hoping for some HUGE names like Pujols, Prince or CC. If Buehrle is their "big name" signee, they won't be happy.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) As much as I love Buehrle, he probably gave up about 50% of the team total. I've said for a while that the guy is the king of allowing unearned runs to score. If rumor is true that he might go to the Marlins....then oh boy. They have some awful defensive players, and management won't be able to use a 6 man rotation to protect him.
