  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) If the Sox are going to go young, Rios can only poison young players. You have to get rid of him even if it means setting the record for most money ever eaten. I couldn't agree more with you. Just another terrible acquisition by Kenny.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:44 AM) Only because MLB salaries go up faster than college tuition. But how much did we have to pay Wells during his time here?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:42 AM) David Wells. Calls out Frank as weak. Then learns Frank shredded his arm. Helps shred that 2001 team. When you take into account salary wasted, Rios is going to end up being #1.
  4. A nice 0-5 with a double play by the two players who Ozzie should never dream of starting in a game like this.
  5. They need to go all Willie Mayes Hayes with Morel and tell him that he has to do 20 push-ups for every ball hit to the right side.
  6. Honestly, I'm thrilled that just happened. Anything to make Ozzie realize how terrible of a player he is.
  7. Still no suggestions for how to make the font smaller?
  8. Something scary to consider is that if Pierre continues to hit well the rest of the year, the Sox could bring him back with the lame-ass excuse of "we have no leadoff hitter".
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) man, Rios+Beckham+Morel+Pierre+Dunn cannot be the way this line up is constructed next year, unless Kenny wants to lose his job. Epic Fail. Well, we'll be losing Pierre, but also losing Quentin likely. Hate to say it, but 2012 has got to be a rebuilding year.
  10. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:14 AM) yeah paulie. but 33919? on a Saturday nite against boston? more pressure to sell? 34k isn't bad
  11. Anyone know how to make the font smaller on soxtalk?
  12. If Viciedo's thumb is still in one piece, the time is now to call him up. This lineup just sucks so much against LHP, and can't afford to drop Sunday and Monday's game just due to a s***ty lineup like the one tonight. No Rios please, no Dunn either.
  13. Report out there that Rockies wouldn't let Yankees do a physical on Ubaldo. With his decrease in velocity this year, that's a scary situation for the Indians.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:40 AM) Hell, even the Red Sox rely on catching lightning in a bottle with half their roster. That was their entire 2010 plan. Or the in and out every year Yankee pitching staff. I just hope he can get things back together again and finish the year nicely. I'm not expecting a 3 ERA or anything, but something that can give him momentum heading into next year.
  15. Holy hell is Rios pathetic. Still can't believe how much of a coward Ozzie is.
  16. Goodness, we've swung at so many pitches out of the zone tonight.
  17. So balta, would you still pencil Humber into the 2012 Sox rotation? Do you chalk this up to him not used to this work load?
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) He would have already made trades if the sox didn't have a good series against the Tigers and won the first game against Boston. My worst fear is the sox take 2/3 against Boston but then struggle a bit and KW loses out on more deals for the future cause of this usual "tease". I think it's too late, and your fears have been realized with regards to KW going for it instead of trading guys.
  19. So speaking of tomorrow's game, if you want to get drunk, you should take a shot whenever Hawk says "Nintendo". Our hitters better be patient, cause Miller has no control. I'm sure we'll have 4 lefties in the lineup, or something along those lines.
  20. Sure is a good thing we're going to a 5 man rotation now with two guys who can't make it past 65 pitches. Zach Stewart will be starting by August 10th, IMO.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:20 AM) As of right now, I'd say us and the Braves are the big losers this deadline (of the team with October aspirations). Sadly, this is shaping up to be a worst case scenario this week
  22. Well, if Boston would have initially bunted with Salty, it's 1-0 going into bottom of the 5th
  23. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:18 AM) 1st and 3rd now. Humber has lost my seal of approval to continue starting baseball games. Like Peavy, this is unacceptable. Peavy wishes he could have Humber's success this year.
  24. Sorry Ozzie, you actually have to put together a lineup that can score runs against these guys.
  25. The Humber collapse coming earlier than usual. Man do I wish the Indians getting Jimenez and the Tigers getting pitching help causes KW to re-think going for it this year.
