  1. Gardenhire is a good manager that basically had to manage a split-squad lineup every game this season. It's not like he had the option to bench players like Ozzie could have.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) Sox are the most bizarre team in baseball history. These 2 guys today pitch masterpieces after yesterday's faceplant. I guess we had dipped a couple to the sub .500, now we have to get back to 2 over again, then faceplant. Is it really that hard to understand for some of you? Yesterday, we were facing a very, very good lineup with a ton of momentum going. Today, we faced one of the 5 worst teams in baseball with basically a AAA lineup going against Humber/Stewart.
  3. Tyler Flowers' batting average is free falling right now. He just needs to keep working on making contact.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) Well, you'd have to think this start would give him a solid boost for the rotation next year. The real question is what happens with Chris Sale. What is the question? He's going to be a starter barring something ridiculous. Thing is, if we're going into next year with a 5 man rotation including Peavy, you're going to need to basically have a 6th starter ready to go as well.
  5. Darn, hell of a performance by Stewart tonight. Nothing you can do about that hit.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:58 AM) It's awful. He just looks so confused. That pitch he struck out on was such a meatball
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) Beckham has way better plate discipline than this... WTF. If Walker's back next year, you almost have to try and trade him if he has any value left. He's one more bad year away from losing starting status in the majors.
  8. Beckham looks as bad as ever right now. Completely defeated mentally at the plate.
  9. Great to see Morel hit three balls hard to the left of 2nd base tonight!
  10. Who was Hawk just talking about with regards to batting clean-up and almost getting traded
  11. I'm not so sure Beckham could hit higher than .265 in AAA this year. He's just a really, really poor hitter.
  12. Brett Lawrie is going to be an absolute stud. As for Montero, he showed insane opposite field power today.
  13. I'll root like hell for the Brewers in the postseason. I also pray they keep Prince.
  14. Tex, what accountability within the org do you think is happening
  15. Would have rather seen Santos get the chance to get the last out. And hell no to making Sale your closer next year
  16. Greg, I do appreciate the research
  17. Great to see Humber have a great start.
  18. To say Ozzie and Kenny played no part in the awful start is just wrong. There were numerous decisions by KW in the offseason (trusting Thornton to close, for example) and Ozzie (pulling Buehrle before the 9th inning in the home game against the A's) that contributed to the awful start. I don't get the purpose of your post, to be honest. Up until a week ago, you were saying the Sox were in great shape. Now, you're making it sound like they never had a chance.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Maybe no bat speed is because of no confidence? I don't know maybe the guy needs glasses or something. It is troubling for sure Even when he's made good contact a lot this year, he's had warning track power. In the past, he could hit it out of any park to any direction.
  20. I think the weak pop ups to the left side where Dunn doesn't even know where he hit it have concerned me more this year than the strike outs. His bat speed is just gone.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Not to start this up, but is there any reason to believe he would come to Chicago in any scenario where he's managing the Sox instead of the Cubs? Why would he want the leftover team? Just cause of Jerry, his buddy? How close are Jerry and LaRussa anyway? Isn't Jerry about 80 years old? Yes, he has a good r'ship with Jerry.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) On the first pitch as always. If LaRussa comes to the Sox, we'll see a huge improvement in how our pitchers hold on runners, as well as better strategy with regards to throwing behind runners, etc.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Sox team speed reeks always. Wonder if the new regime will get speedier. Wouldn't be so noticeable if we returned to bashing a ton of home runs. Only Lilly and Paulie and CQ have that home run stroke. You ever think it's cause Ozzie's too predictable with sending his runners with two outs?
