QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) Those little things are why I have been fine with what we have gotten from him this year. But Ozzie needs to keep calling for it to get the most out of this 1 and 2 in the order

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) LoL, Hawk not fond of Quentin poppin up to right side. Nor should he be

Morel is such a great hit and run candidate

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) Vegas has the total at 12.5. That would mean yes. We better hope Jackson has his good slider.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) THANK YOU -- has everyone forgotten this?? I mean, it was arguably one of THE BEST runs by a pitching staff in post season in MLB HISTORY. Repeat: IN HISTORY. And that pitching staff is what pulled that gasping, sputtering, choking offense over the finish line when it was on the verge of an epic collapse...a collapse that I would've had a hard time getting over as a fan. PK really picked up the offense with some huge hits, but this is the same offense that won the opening game of the year, the first game after the ASB, and the last game of the year 1-0.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) That's if you think he means 25 guys hitting .250 and playing horrible defense. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he means work ethic. He's not talking about work ethic if it's the same crap he said last year. He truly loves players with Pierre's skill set. This is the same manager that said in his dream world, he would bat Pierre 3rd.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Ozzie just said he wished he had 25 Juan Pierres. How can anyone think this guy needs to stick around!?!? The Pierre thing has become way too personal with Ozzie.

Cubs lineup has scored more than the Sox this year, but of course they have the advantage of having their pitchers hit instead of Dunn

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) That Cub lineup is so awful. How do they ever win any games? Funny, I was actually thinking that's the best lineup they've had all year with Pena and Ramirez hitting so well right now.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) i think he should have his appendix put back in Today is the 5 day anniversay of me losing my appendix....and this brought a smile to my face!

The 2005 offense was "good" because our relief pitching was insanely awesome. Easy to get away with scoring 3 runs in a game if your pitching gives up 2.
-
Both Peavy and Pierre stated that the team came out with no energy today. That's pretty frustrating to hear when you have your entire bench playing, as they should be your energizers.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) Peavy with less than stellar stuff but still mustered a somewhat okay start. Which makes us wonder whats the issue where there are days where he absolutely has no stuff (eg: Today and the game vs the Cubs) and others when he is lights out hitting 95 mph (Cle and the relief appearance vs the Nats). But none the less the team is 7-1 when Peavy pitches. Didn't know they're 7-1...that's a very underrated stat.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Rios does not deserve to get benched. He's hitting the ball hard right now and whether he is loafing it or not, he is one of our two best defensive OF's. Viciedo would certainly make a difference in this lineup, but unfortunately, Ozzie is not going to give up Pierre or Omar, so if he does come up, it's going to be at the expense of Teahen or Brent, both of whom deserve a legitimate role on this team because of their versatility. If you call up Viciedo, then I don't think you still have a need for Teahen. However, they're not going to move Teahen.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Rongey arguing that Viciedo won't make a difference to this line-up. Ugh...same argument we heard that Kotsay didn't hurt the White Sox last year. I was actually ALMOST thinking if Rios continues to struggle that I'd be okay with Pierre in CF and Viciedo in LF. ALMOST. But how long can they keep trotting Dunn out there? If Lillibridge continues to slump, there's no other option against LHP (for Dunn), because you need Castro and Teahen isn't going to be starting against lefties, either. They'll give him, IMO, the first series at home next week. If he struggles like he has been, then he'll get benched.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) He has a ton of power potential. I really liked that pick. Indeed...he put up good numbers in college, which means more to me this year than ever before.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) Pierre hopefully seems to have turned it around hits are coming in bunches now for him He just needs to keep trying to pull the ball
-
Felix was a visionary with his parody thread of "Dunn is Done"
-
Caulfield said it earlier, but Juan's not the one at risk of being replaced by Viciedo anymore.
-
Pierre and Beckham picked up the offense today! It would be such a blessing if those two can get it going at the top of the lineup.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Nice set of comebacks these last 2 games. Yep, great comeback led by two guys struggling a lot in Beckham and Pierre. Pitching continues to thrive.

Too bad we can't see Spilborghs hit against him today.
