  1. What's that post about Richmond playing in Europe all about?
  2. Not sure where I saw this quote, but it's perfect relating to last night: Weber needed that victory, as Illinois is never going to have a game vs Indiana again where the talent level discrepancy is so one-sided. Kinda like how I would have felt if Sampson's IU team lost to Illinois in Bloomington, which they almost did.

Rumors out there that Gervais will take over for Michael Scott (Carrell) next season.

  5. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:15 AM) The News-Gazette writer following the Illini recently said that he expects one or more transfers at the end of the season. Bertrand and Griffey seem to be the likely candidates.
  6. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:14 AM) Maybe Richmond could transfer to Indiana and play for someone that can actually coach. If I were Jereme I would leave the tranwreck in Champaign as fast as possible. It's not too late for him to develop into an NBA player someplace else. Unfortunately it might be for Brandon Paul. What an awful job of developing an immensely physically skilled player. At some point, it should be clear why every player on a roster is underperforming. Oh, and McCamey is not even in the conversation for best point guard in the Big Ten. He was thoroughly outplayed by Hulls. Illinois should not make the dance this season -- they are not a tournament quality team. I'd take Battle, Taylor, and Morris over McCamey, and for a true pg, Craft is pretty damn impressive. Hey, at least McCamey is currently better than Nolen and Lucious.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:07 AM) I've been saying for a while this was Weber's make or break year for me. He was the perfect coach with the perfect offense for the 04-05 team but since Dee the program has been no where near where it should be. But really even up until last year he got everything out of his teams, getting a 5 seed with a team starting Trent Meacham, Chester Frazier plus Tisdale and Davis as sophomore is remarkable. But his job the last two years has been awful. I've heard the chemistry with this year's team is TERRIBLE! You have a bunch of underclassmen who think they can make the leap to the NBA after this year (Richmond and Paul), and then you have three very inconsistent seniors. Head has been telling some of his buddies in the suburbs that he would have gone to UIC or DePaul if he could have done it all over again.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) Fire Weber The thing is, it's not like any of the recruits would go elsewhere if he left. Howard's the heart and soul of that recruiting pipeline.
  9. That game was so similar to UIC. Weber better be careful, he might get himself run out of Champaign.
  10. Illinois getting some huge calls from the refs here, but I don't understand why Richardson didn't pass that one off to the team's best shooter when he was wide open.
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:58 AM) Close game and Illinois bout to lose again. What a surprise. Announcers made a great point, every Illini player didn't seem to want to make a play. It's typical for a Weber coached team under the Illini. If I was an Illini fan, I'd be absolutely furious with how poorly he coached tonight.
  12. What in the hell is Weber doing? His team is dead tired, and with 4 timeouts left, he doesn't call one and instead D.J. Richardson hits the side of the backboard. Any person who's watched Illini basketball knows this team can't play slow-down basketball, yet Illinois continues to take 30 seconds off the shot clock every possession.
  13. I know I'm the king of hyperbole, but this might be the worst half of basketball I've ever seen. Not even Gus can make it seem fun.
  14. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Damn Oladipo, that could have been one of the dunks of the year. Yes, that was an impressive attempt. Richmond played strong that half, but I still hate his mannerisms on the court.
  15. Brandon Paul playing a really bad game so far. Bill Cole should be playing more in a game like this.
  16. D.J. Richardson is just a waste of a spot on the floor right now. He turned a 3 on 1 into a 3 on 4 because he can't dribble the ball.
  17. The rest of BYU isn't bad at all. Emery is a very solid guard, and Davies kept BYU in the game early on tonight. I like BYU's role players a lot more than Davidson's when Curry was there. San Diego State's length inside is impressive, but they don't shoot very well from the perimeter.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 04:14 AM) Sorry Heads. Texas Tech finally showed up this year. Any momentum Ia St had from their good start is gone, and they're on their way to a 3 or 4 win Big 12 conference season.
  19. I love Sullinger, but there's no doubt in my mind that Jimmer Fredette is the best player in the country.
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) If your knee can not support your body you can not play on it. Cutler had a decent first quarter. When he got hurt he sucked. These things happen oh well, we move on. He missed on that huge play to Hester. With Packers marching down the field so much, I don't remember him doing anything else to be considered playing decent.
  21. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Haha I knew it was going to happen. Purdue has yet to beat a good team. Yea they beat MSU, but they are 12-7 and really really struggling. Painter has really missed the boat recruiting since 2007. There has been SO MUCH talent in Indiana while IU has been down, and he has pulled one top 100 player in Terone Johnson over that time period. He's a great coach, but like Purdue fans saw last night, you can only go so far with mediocre talent surrounding your Big two. It will be interesting to see what they look like next year without two of their best players in history. If Painter was smart, he'd jump ship after this season.
  22. I know a lot of people in Illinois are familiar with Iman Shumpert. The light has gone on for Shumpert, and he's putting up some insane numbers. Nearly had a quadruple double tonight while shutting down the dangerous Malcolm Delaney. Usually I'd beg a GT player to stay around another year, but if he can be a first round pick, I'll be thrilled to see the local kid make the league.
  23. Craft playing a phenomenal game for OSU. Games like tonight where Purdue really misses Hummel, as they only have 2 playmakers.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) to be fair Prior did not have a shoulder reconstruction. He had a procedure to tighten it up and clean up a few things. However the point is valid. I thought he had surgery for loose shoulder capsules, which basically any pitcher will get over time.
  25. Another thought I had is that Cutler knows what play he got injured on, as do the Bears, but they don't want to state what play it was so as not to get the offensive lineman crucified in Chicago for that particular play.
