Marshall Faulk with a great analysis on NFL Network regarding the Bears debacle on offense. Basically saying Cutler is to blame for a lot of the sacks, as he did not go through the proper progression in Martz's offense. Also said Forte and Olsen were just as responsible for the sacks as the OL.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Ah. So he's the one that got hosed on the Hudson deal? Hahn does the financial deals....KW does the player transactions.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Can someone explain the Rick Hahn love affair to me? I honestly don't pay attention to what he has done or is responsible for so I'd like to get a little educated on the topic. He's known as one of the best negotiators in all of baseball. He handles a lot of the contract work, as KW stays out of it.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) what the? can someone tell me what is going on around here? since when did floyd's value skyrocketed? floyd for fielder and a prospect? if i were the sox, i wouldn't hesitate to trade floyd for fielder alone. I'm with you on this

Players who failed when it counts/against the Twins
fathom replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Allsox @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) This. From my count, the Sox loaded the bases against the Twins 7 times with less than 2 out and on those occasions, they scored only 1 run. That was because AJ grounded into a double play with nobody out. Paulie struck out 3 times on those situations so..... And hit into a double play in the Thome game. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) Unfortunately, this makes way more sense, too. There was a special on Real Sports about this. Athletes that already have a concussion that suffer another blow to the head while the swelling in the brain is still persistent can lead to traumatic brain injuries, etc.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) Where are people getting Borat? I can't think of a single quote from that movie that anyone ever actually says. "High Five" "....not" "Vageen" "You will never get this"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) Then the Dodgers can look somewhere else. Seriously. Young pitcher under control for several years at fixed cost compared to a young player hitting arbitration with no stable contract and attitude issues? Not even close. Just seems like Dodgers could find a team willing to give up more for Kemp. I do know for a fact that the Sox organization from top-down hates Kemp due to issues they had with him when facing him in the minors. Hopefully enough time has changed since then though.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Apparently the feeling is now that Cutlers concussion came after the "Olsen falls over" block. Which is scary, cause of Cutler already was concussed and then suffered that blow from Aaron Ross, there is a lot of damage that could have been done.
-
Am I the only one who thinks Floyd wouldn't be enough to get Kemp?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Personally after about the 4th sack, he looked like a dead duck out there. He took some pretty heavy licks. Again, all the more reason for him to take a set of downs off last night and regain his focus (or have the staff realized he wasn't 100% in the brain). I just went on talkbears to see what was being said on there, and I agree with you that calling Cutler a p**** is ridiculous.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) My guess is Cutler stayed away from everyone. They didn't know he suffered the concussion until halftime (since he didn't even come out on the play he took the hit from Ross). I still don't understand why the Bears even tried to throw the ball to end the 1st half. At that point, I was thrilled to death it was a 3-0 game and wanted to get to halftime as fast as possible to allow the coaches to make adjustments and for Jay to take some breaths. Jason, you're making some of the same points I am about the coaching staff's utter failure last night, but you went off on me for saying the Bears were being outcoached? I truly feel like the Giants did a much better job adjusting during the 2nd half last night, including a perfectly timed screen pass on 3rd and long.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) Then the medical staff should have sought him out after the 3rd or 4th hit and they'd have been negligent not to do so. And to that point, did they not see him basically falling over himself in the 2nd quarter? I thought it was due to the field conditions with it starting to rain, but maybe not.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) I think I saw one time where a check-down was open. The guy was playing with a concussion, most likey, for a good chunk of the 1st half. And if you watch where his WR's were on those sacks, youd' see that they were busy running slow-developing deep routes. SO contrary to the one play where Cutler could have taken the hit and thrown it to Bennett (at that piont, it would have been about his 15th hit or so), he really didn't have these options that people are talking about. Not to mention, I'd like to see them make those decisions when the QB is sacked on 45% of his drop-backs and hit on like 75% of them. Are there actually reports that he was hurt prior to the Ross hit? It would actually make more sense, as he seemed to be lacking coordination during the 2nd quarter. As for the slow developing deep routes, I couldn't agree more with you. That was part of the coaching flaws I mentioned though. We were playing right into their hands.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) i really don't see why people want Jim to get a ring with those freaking twins, it would be nice for the guy but come on after this season and what the twins did to us plus our horrible rotating DH....no thanks. i hope they get swept. sorry jim Amen! Unless it's a family member of mine, I could really care less if any baseball player wins a WS ring not with the White Sox. For example, if the Sox didn't win in 2005, I would not have cheered for Frank Thomas to win a WS ring with the A's. Isn't that like seeing an ex-girlfriend of yours go on to date Justin Timberlake?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) DUH. Should I blame a pitcher if he pitches in a game where his team makes 12 errors? f*** no. Clearly you've never played sports or something because you seem to think that sports exist in this vaccuum. Collosal pressure, hard hits, sacks, etc, are going to make it highly less likely that a QB can do anything worth a damn even in situations where he might be able to succeed. He had time to throw on like 10% of his drop-backs. That is f***ing ridiculous and probably has never happened in the history of football. If 9 out of 10 days a week you got hit by a car, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to walk to work normally. How many times had Cutler been sacked up until the time he underthrew what should have been an easy TD? How about before the INT? You're acting like I'm blaiming Cutler for losing the game, which is no way am I doing. There is not one player on offense that showed up to play last night unfortunately. Another point about the terrible coaching last night was even calling for a pass attempt on the play Cutler got knocked out. That should have been a run into the line and go into the halftime happy to be down 3-0.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) The above is pure crap. No QB could get sacked 9 times and survive or have a good game. NONE, ZERO, ZILCH. So you're saying Cutler deserves absolutely no blame for a poor effort last night? The offensive line was clearly to blame last night in general, but Cutler did nothing to really help out. Midway thru the 2nd half (which is when I posted about him needing a breather), he was so shell-shocked that he couldn't even keep his footing when backing up.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Are you f***ing serious? Giants looked like absolute s*** tonight. Outside of there dline manhandling the Bears and I'm not even going to give them credit for that. Did you see how our guys blocked? Oh wait, on most plays they pretty much just whiffed. It was a complete an utter s*** show by the Bears. Giants looked like a horrible team that won because we had a dead dog at QB and the worse oline in the history of football blocking that dead dog during the 2nd half. And the Giants made some good adjustments during the 2nd half, as they started to take advantage of the aggressive Bears front 7. They also stopped calling plays that were going horizontal, and went to more of a vertical offense. The only chance the Bears had last night on offense was the quick pass offense they applied vs the Cowboys.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) You might be the dumbest poster in the history of posters during any given game thread. Your comments are absolutely ridiculous. Seriously, Todd Collins is the biggest piece of s*** ever and your ignorance in not understanding the impacts of 9 sacks in a game is absolutely ridiculous. Cause I wanted Cutler to get a series off to catch his breath and hopefully snap out of the shock he was in? It was obvioius to everyone watching that the pressure was effecting him physically and mentally. I'm sorry, but Cutler sucked last night. He had a chance to make a big play to Hester, and he underthrew it. His interception was one of the worst reads you'll ever see. And don't throw me in with the other Orton lovers. Just last week, I was telling people how stupid the Cutler vs Orton debate is.

Players who failed when it counts/against the Twins
fathom replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
An individual who really failed us in the clutch vs the Twins was Konerko. I believe there were 5 instances in the 9th inning or later vs Twins where he failed in a crucial situation with numerous runners on. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 05:15 AM) Was that the most random, unimaginable, hilarious intro to a television show ever? I freakin' love Steve. He looked like he gained 40 pounds also

Amazing episode tonight, easily the best of the series so far in my opinion. Kenny entering to Hulk Hogan's Real American theme was one of the greater moments in TV history.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 04:14 AM) I would add Olsen to the Oline but there is nothing receivers, QBs or RBs can do if your oline plays like this. Forte could have broken at least one tackle tonight, and Hester not being able to beat a guy one-on-one earlier in the game prevented a big play.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 04:12 AM) Game officially over. Every member of the offense should give their paychecks back for this game. fixed

We need to draw like 5 roughing the punters in a row. Bears have like 5 first downs tonight?
