  1. Maybe it's me, but down 3 with 2 on in the 7th would be a good time to use that power guy on the bench we're paying a lot of money to.
  2. sorry, can't quote for some reason. I agree Balta, Danks has had very little breathing room. His first 5 innings ERA has to be great.
  3. Danks is struggling with his stamina this yr
  4. Not sure what this club was expecting with this lineup today. When everyone is saying only Konerko and Quentin are hitting, why bench Konerko? I'm all for Rios sitting, but this lineup is as bad as we've seen since 2007.
  5. This is so boring. If walker isn't fired tonight he never will be
  6. Is Ryan Franklin a spy sent by the rest of the NL Central to sabotage the Cardinals season?
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) And it's brought them incredible success. Yeah, having a good farm system is the primary way for the Sox to acquire Major League players via trade. Last year, it was much harder to make trades to improve our DH spot because of the lack of minor league depth. I know you know this, and I'm shocked that any Sox fan would think otherwise.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 03:14 AM) I don't know why this isn't addressed more often, but a big problem with the drafting and development, at least in my opinion, seems to be Reinsdorf's relationship with Selig. JR seems to instruct our Player Development department to follow Selig's "slot system," whereas teams that you mentioned do not. They pay over slot money to compensate for their poor draft position and thus get players they have no business getting at their position in the draft. Meanwhile, we take the guy that is willing to sign for slot money, and in the instances we do take a guy that is a signability risk, we don't seem to ever get him signed. I feel like we could vastly improve our drafting if we were willing to tell Bud that we can't continue to play by these "guidelines" if we continue to see the rich get richer by ignoring them. Absolutely, meanwhile KC and Detroit stack up their farm systems by going way over slot.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:55 AM) At this point, who's to say that is even bad? I'm fine with the lefties, but Lillibridge vs Scherzer is likely an 0 for. Like you said, it doesn't even matter right now.
  10. Lillibridge, Teahen and Vizquel will be in the lineup tomorrow.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) I don't know if its his toe or what but the Oakland TV crew was blasting his effort running out a grounder the other day. He's been brutal. He did the same thing on a grounder to 2nd today. This is nothing new for the Sox.
  12. At what point do you bench Rios? Definitely seems like he's taking his struggles at the plate to the field.
  13. Dunn's bat speed seems to have been removed when he lost his appendix. Too bad Rios didn't get to bat to go 0 for his last 25.
  14. QUOTE (OilCan @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) Over/under on how many more games until Ozzie quits on this team? who cares...not like him quitting on the bullpen 10 days ago fired up the team. It's been a long time since I saw a team have so many players slump.
  15. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) In my mind, this one , by a LONG shot. I had some serious expectations for a good start with this team. When we showed that we were hitting right at the start, it was a welcome change from years past. But now...I am lost for word to explain why this team got so bad, so fast. I know it won't happen, but this team is truly playing like a team that ends up getting their manager fired. It comes out flat, has terrible at bats, can't field, and then crawls into a hole when they're down. Heck, I don't even blame Ozzie for all but about 3 players on this team sucking.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) I think they're more regretting giving away Scherzer to get Jackson. Didn't they basically get Ian Kennedy and Hudson for Scherzer?
  17. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:57 PM) Comcial. This team is just to brutal not to laugh. What was worse, this team so far or the Andy Gonzalez 2007 era?
  18. Goodness, even Quentin looks TERRIBLE today. I have no idea why any team ever would throw our hitters a 3-2 fastball.
  19. I wonder if Arizona's site has a "The GREAT Edwin Jackson" thread? So far, both pitchers are underperforming this year.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Q: Are the white sox soon to be old, forgotten news in Chicago until if/when they actually start winning?? They were the 4th story on the sports news last night. While the Bulls are still playing, they'll own the city.
  21. Seems like being down 8-0 would be a great time to keep Beckham in the game to see if he can get some confidence.
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 11:38 PM) How is Hawk handling this? Is he still blatently optimistic? Does he criticize at all? I don't get to hear hem very often. He's just being silent during most games.
  23. Greg Walker's postgame comments "We just faced another really tough pitcher. You don't start an All Star Game without great stuff".
