Ozzie with some harsh words about Jenks' stuff. Cooper also needs to take some initiative and tell Jenks to stop throwing that sinker crap. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...blown-save.html

Cardinals are the leaders to acquire Oswalt (per rotoworld)

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 05:58 AM) Yes...but Billy Wagner hasn't sucked this year. The only thing more frustrating than watching Jenks pitch these days is seeing posts trying to defend him. Greg, sometimes the hardest thing for a parent to do is to admit their child needs help.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 05:53 AM) Some of you guys slay me. Ever heard of battling through adversity. And somebody said he hasn't been good in five years??? WTF. GMAFB, if this was his "good stuff", then maybe he's just washed up.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:42 AM) I'm not talking about the Wilson play. He generally is not a good fielder. I see you didn't comment on his non ability to hold runners on base LIKE LAST NIGHT. Some of you Sox fans are just as delusional as the management. Jenks is a terrific fielding pitcher. He does a bad job of holding on runners, but almost all relievers do. I'm the last person to make excuses for Jenks, but the failure to pitch out on the 1-2 count to Gutierrez was just lazy managing.

Wouldn't surprise me to see someone sent down (Lillibridge maybe) and have Sale promoted. This would give Ozzie more flexibility to use Thornton in the 9th.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 05:36 AM) Putz is too damn valuable to have him just closing games at this point. If he's available in the 9th inning then he better be getting the ball, but if there's 2 on in the bottom of the 7th and Miguel Cabrera is at the plate then JJ needs to be used in that situation. Closer by committee is the way to go, not because Putz hasn't earned the opportunity to close but for the fact he's just too good to have him only close games. Agreed, there's a huge ripple effect cause by Jenks' suckiness.

Don't even need to find a starting RF, but at least find someone you can have on the bench and play if Quentin gets injured. In a matter of less than a month, there are now 3 glaring issues with this team (Peavy spot, bullpen, RF)
-
Jenks fields his position just fine. Mark Buehrle couldn't have made a play on Wilson's bunt.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:27 AM) Then what explains the 5 weeks or so when he was awesome? Thats why it doesn't make sense. So he was due for about 6 weeks and its finally hitting now? You can't stretch it that far facing NL Teams? Half serious, half joking
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:25 AM) Why would he be better in a set-up role? His stuff blows. Doesn't matter what inning he pitches. There's nothing more that needs to be said
-
Ozzie just likes to use the word committee so he feels he has even more power in making decisions. Just like the DH by committee. How's that working out for you?
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:16 AM) Well we're going to need the starting pitching to carry us, but we knew that already. The bullpen depth we all thought we had is now questionable at best though, I will say that. Moving Putz to closer basically means we have one reliable setup man right now. let's just hope Thornton and Putz are healthy, and Ozzie had a bet with someone that he could have an extra inning game and not warm up his two best relievers.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:14 AM) True, you usually don't get two in 4 days like this though. But to your point, if we rid ourselves of the Jenks problem in the closers role, HOPEFULLY we can minimize the giveaway games. with Santos having a hard time fooling anyone, suddenly the 6th-7th innings become scary.

Jenks has been the Twins most valuable player since the ASB.

Pirates haven't signed either guy yet, have they?

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Get Bobby Valentine out of the booth and off the studio set. He is terrible! I seriously hate him on television. He's annoying, obnoxious, and ignorant.

So, this Pedro Alvarez guy isn't that bad!
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) you actually watched the ESPYs? Yes, and there's some good skits and bad skits. It was also on a night when nothing was on TV at all!

More than likely that was Lilly's last start for the Cubs. He'll owe half of the money on his next contract to Mother Nature.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) I don't think people "freak out" over Bobby giving up baserunners and getting saves. I just think they realize that a guy with a WHIP in the mid 1's as closer is a dangerous propsition that could go horribly wrong at some point soon. This is the most perfect post of the season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) And the only pitcher in our Org worth enough to be the centerpiece of a deal for Fielder is starting tonight. I think Danks would interest Milwaukee as well. However, I really don't expect a blockbuster trade thanks mostly to the Peavy injury. There's just no depth now (not like there was much to start). Don't forget that Ozzie is not the biggest fan of Torres.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Olney tweets Sox would have to give up Gordon to acquire Fielder. I like Fielder but I don't think Kenny would pull the trigger on the trade with some of the names being mentioned. I think it's a play for Dunn/Rizzo to make up his mind. It would make no sense for Milwaukee to go after Beckham, as they have Weeks and Lawrie. The Brewers want pitching, pitching, and more pitching.
-
Just seems like if we fill one hole with Fielder, we'd be creating a huge hole in our starting pitching rotation. As much as I love Prince Fielder, it's just not realistic to give up so much for him and then be handicapped in the long run due to his contract demands. Same goes with Dunn.

Have the White Sox ever had a better defense?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 05:24 AM) Wow, I really think we're short-changing Konerko calling him just "above-average." He doesn't have the greatest range, but he's phenomenal over at 1B. Isn't it ironic how probably the worst 1B in all of baseball, in terms of defense, could easily end up being our 1B next season (Dunn)
