Holy f***, that's a blatant strike.

Wow, terrible defensive inning for Vizquel. He definitely did not have to rush that.

You have to be kididng me...not the time for the curse of Oakland to strike. Alexei also could have busted it more over there.

Wow...not sure how Ellis missed that. Huge batter here!

With this strike zone, I don't blame fans for beating him up. Just kidding!

I want to take a bat and swing against Garcia today!

Ozzie might as well get tossed now

Not only does he have nothing, but with this small strike zone, it's going to be even more difficult for him to get thru 4 innings today.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) Freddy had nothing last game. He doesn't look like he has anything today early. Great. Yeah, this is awful. Might have to skip a few starts for him in the 2nd half if you want any chance of him being productive.

Garcia looks terrible...pitches just floating over the plate and fastball at 84 mph. A patient team against him is not a good match-up for Sox.

Darn...Quentin had his pitch on the hanger first pitch. He just isn't in the same groove since the ASB, as he seems to be opening up just a tad quick.

Nice AB by Konerko...be nice to get an early lead today.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) This has been an awful baseball game. And my god, is Marmol's strike zone huge. The 3-2 pitch to Miles wasn't a strike all game

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) This has been an awful baseball game. And my god, is Marmol's strike zone huge. It's really an embarrassment to see how big of a zone he gets. Glavine/Maddux in their primes didn't get a bigger zone. If Cardinals don't win tomorrow, I'm not so sure Cubs go into sell mode. It's really amazing how lucky they're going to get in the first month or so after the ASB with regards to pitching match-ups, as they miss Oswalt again next week and then no Jimenez in Colorado.

Larussa with some HORRIBLE managing today. Cubs have given the Cardinals every chance in the world. Carlos Marmol must have naked pictures of every umpire. No one gets a wider strike zone from umpires than he does.

Sounds like we're facing Braden tomorrow.

Didn't we win??
QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Ordonez used to get ripped-----Mackowiak...ripped----- Lee...ripped------- Pods...ripped------ Everett...ripped------Owens...ripped None of them great, most of them bad but none of them nearly as bad as Sox fans made them out to be. Mackowiak wasn't as bad as we made him out to be? Everett as well? I don't remember Owens getting ripped on much at all.

23 base runners in 10.1 innings for the terrible twosome.

Didn't we win??
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) I would in no way, shape or form call it a pathetic effort. Did he look graceful ? No. Should he have just faced the wall and played the carom off the wall. Perhaps. A lot of outfielders would have but with Cust running it did not add an extra base when the ball caromed past him. Should he have gone crashing into the the wall full speed. Hello no we need his bat. Would some one like Jones have caught it ? Very hard to say based on positioning . Do you think Q wanted to catch it ? Of course he did so I can't fault the effort. What's pathetic about Quentin in the outfield is that he always runs with his glove out. The good outfielders keep their gloves to their sides until the last second. You lose speed if you do it the way Quentin does it.

Ben Sheets
Sheets to the DL with a bad elbow

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Yeah, who needs a 2 run RBI single? 2 for his last 23, and let's not pretend like that 2 RBI single was a rocket. It's great he gave Buehrle some more breathing room, but I think everyone can tell he's scuffling big time at the plate.

Unreal that Kotsay gets another game. At least we don't have to deal with AJ today.

Haha, two straight leadoff homers for Colvin against the Cardinals. Dear Cardinals, please acquire some starting pitching. There's no worse 4/5 in all of baseball than Hawksworth and Suppan. I have no idea why Larussa didn't split those two up so they never have to pitch back-to-back. He's basically giving the Cubs the first two games of this series, and puts a lot of pressure on Carpenter tomorrow night.

Buehrle was sensational tonight! Kept this team in the game while the offense struggled to get going.
