  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) The thing is if they win today they have less of a chance to win on Tuesday. Maybe they would just rather win Tuesday. Make no mistake about it. This is a good ballclub. They just haven't found their stride yet. Haha, I love you!
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) The idea of Viciedo catching errant Teahen and Ramirez throws isn't so palatable. I think Viciedo/Flowers will need to DH and play the field occasionally, but I'm more and more in favor of trying to retain Konerko at $5-6.5 million per over two years with a club option for 2013. We certainly can't have Josh Kroeger et al there or our attendance will be bottom 3 in the majors. Kroeger sucks
  3. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) What did Stone say? Just no reason for them to challenge Peralta, even though that was void after Duncan's double.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) He has to have more than 5 to 7 mph separation between the change and fastball in order to be successful. Mark either has to find his fastball, or slow down his change. with that little difference hitters can sit in the middle and still catch up to both. Good observation
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Buehrle with an ERA now of 5.21, Lord knows what it is since OD. Obviously if he's hovering around 84-86 MPH FB, he's a full 3-5 MPH behind what he used to throw. Javy Vazquez is likely to end today with a lower ERA than Buehrle.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Hey! The 2nd out! Probably the longest ball Grudz has hit to right field in a decade.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) Buehrle needs to be DL'ed. Buehrle needs to be NL'ed
  8. Holy hell, this is fun bad right now! Dear Mark, you NEED the NL.
  9. It's amazing how bad our 3 highest paid starting pitchers and 2 highest paid relievers have been.
  10. Wow Buehrle...keep throwing batting practice. Booing starting already, and Stone is just ripping Buehrle and AJP. FIRE EVERYONE!
  11. Buehrle looks awful again. Fastball at 85 mph and no command of it.
  12. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:07 PM) If the Sox lose today - especially if they lose bad - does any kind of move have to be made tomorrow on the off day? No
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) Well, you're a long-time fan, just as I am. This is something that has seemingly plagued us since well-before Ozzie and Walk got here. The 2001-2004 teams experienced the same kind of lacksidasical, underperforming attitude that some of these teams have under Ozzie. Maybe it's the way Kenny builds teams, I don't know. I always love his teams on paper but they rarely seem to have a fire about them to where they actually outperform their talent. 2005 was obviously the exception. We always seem to be losing games we should be winning. Completely agree, and the older/wiser I get, the more I appreciate 2005.
  14. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) i have tickets to this game is the time changing to? yes, 4 PM start Wash D.C. time I'm sure
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) What did he do? Just shaking his head saying "wow". Looked like he saw a ghost.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) I wouldn't sleep on Gordo...I think this will eventually be very good for his development as a player. Agreed, he might never be a superstar, but he should be a productive player in the .285-18 home run range.
  17. It doesn't matter who's playing in the Stanley Cup, the finals has to go at least 6 games for the networks to not have to provide "make do's".
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) The facts are the facts...no matter how much Ozzie tries to tell them to relax, the buck eventually stops somewhere, and they are fully aware of that. That's what's making them tight, not the clubhouse atmosphere. So we have an entire team full of players that need a psychologist? That's basically what Walker said. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just am very cautious about unloading all of our players before making the obvious changes in firing Ozzie and Walker.
  19. Grandal's deal is supposed to be for a little more than 3 million with KC.
  20. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Great. Now we'll probably get no-hit by the rookie on national TV. That would be awesome!
  21. Great ending to the Pirates/Giants game last night with Milledge making a fantastic diving catch to preserve the win. Is Andrew McCutcheon the best young offensive player in baseball?
  22. My new favorite part of the Galarraga close play at first is the reaction of the Indians trainer in the dugout. MLB Network is replaying that game tomorrow, and they keep showing clips of it. The guy's reaction is priceless.
  23. I'd go with this lineup and hope for the best: Pierre/Beckham/Rios/Konerko/Quentin/Kotsay/Ramirez/AJP/Vizquel We're never going to be good unless Beckham can hit at the top of the order and Quentin can bat in the 3-4-5 range, so might as well stick them there and hope they snap out of it. No point in batting them lower in the order, and then worry about the mental aspect if you try and put them higher up again.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I don't know how you can fault the way Ozzie has handled either of them. They've both gotten EVERY opportunity to play even though they have both been big buckets of suck all year. They seemed to do just fine with Ozzie as their manager when they were hitting well, so I don't see how he has anything to do with this. Walker on the other hand, I don't care if they fire him or not. I don't know enough about hitting professionally to know if anyone else would make a difference or not. Well, according to Walker, both Quentin and Beckham are playing extremely tight. Walker said all the players are dealing with such anxiety on the field. Isn't Ozzie responsible for setting a good environment where these players have fun? One of the pro-Ozzie arguments was always that he was a good motivator and created a loose environment, but that's obviously not taking place this season.
  25. You know what's more important that calling up prospects right now? Getting a new manager and hitting coach in place to see if they can have a positive impact on guys like Quentin and Beckham.
