I have no idea how this pitcher gets guys out. Very underwhelming stuff.

Damn, someone finally plays Rios up the middle. I swear I haven't seen him hit a line drive to the outfield in a month.

If Beckham cannot hit a fastball on the outside corner, he needs to move closer to the plate. Be nice if someone in the dugout would tell him that.

And don't forget the lack of power shown in Pitt and Washington

Danks doing his job keeping us in this game. Maybe Viciedo can hit a rocket to right and get us started.

greg, you do know we never offered Dye a contract to return as a DH.

Jeez, even fly balls that look good off the bat aren't coming close. I heard we have one home run in our last 11 road games. That's simply pathetic!

Jones is quickly turning into our of my least favorite players on the Sox in a long time. He simply has no plan at the plate before flying open and looking pathetic. Sorry Andruw, you suck without steroids.

When will KW and Ozzie be smart enough to DFA Jones? He's such a waste of a roster spot right now. This team is going to have to start hitting the long ball again.

The history of the Soxtalk Whipping Boy
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) When I make a comment on some of my favorites from the past and arguments start, nobody on the other side every issues posts like this. You say this now, which is great and fine and nice of course. What normally happens is I stand up for these guys when somebody bags on them and then all hell breaks loose. By the way did anybody see D. Wise got a few hits last night? For me, it's cause you post in absolutes and refuse to even acknowledge the faults of some of these players.

2010 Cubs Thread
Anyone check out the Cubs 2nd half schedule? Very tough, with tons of games vs Cardinals, Giants, Padres, Reds. Their only hope is to destroy the depleted Astros, as they play them 12 times I believe.

Cancel the post game...make a comeback Reds, they're the best in baseball this year at that!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Even a no hitter wouldn't do anything for the Cubs at this point. The Reds really haven't shown up today, they could easily be down by 10 runs or more right now if they weren't playing a cupcake like this. Agreed, but it would still be nice to not give the Cubs fans any reason to celebrate an achievement.

Hawk kept alluding to bad weather for tonight's game. Will we get this game in?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) Johnny Cueto has thrown 101 pitches through 5 innings and has a shutout going. He's due up 2nd next inning and probably done, but that's ridiculous. The Cubs have already 22 individual LOB and 12 team LOB. Is the wind blowing in?

The history of the Soxtalk Whipping Boy
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) I don't look on Crede, Pods, or JD with disgust, just because I either criticize a flaw in their game (e.g. Dye being absolutely useless in the second half of 2009, or thinking it's completely silly to even consider bringing Crede back, or understanding that Pods and Pierre are basically the same player) doesn't mean that's what I'm doing. And frankly being shoehorned into that position with strawman arguments is pretty f***ing irritating. Great post...take Jermaine Dye for example. Greg would probably say I'm a hater of Dye's, just because we were critical of his defense and wondered if he had hit the wall last season. However, I might be the only one, but I appreciate Jermaine's time with the Sox more than the likes of Carlos Lee and Magglio. Dye is the best FA signing in Sox history.

sounds like LeBron might announce he's staying in Cleveland to all of the fans around 4PM today, as being speculated on the radio.

Wow, great win! Nice managing by Ozzie...hopefully this win makes Wade happy and shows him that Reinsdorf knows how to manage his franchises.
