  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) Lets say Ranaudo or Wilson magically falls to the in the second round, would the Sox take a flyer on one, even with signability?. Nope..they won't fall that far with the Red Sox and Blue Jays lurking
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) I missed the first 3 innings, but he didn't even hit 90 in the 4th. That's quite a ways off from the scouting reports isn't it? Not really, a lot of reports have said he's 89-91. I'm not impressed with him at all from what I've seen. Wojo at least has two plus pitches.
  3. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:04 AM) McGuire, with Workman, Wimmers and Wojo "in play". That guy on fanhouse said no way for McGuire..thanks for sharing with us though OB.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) Even though he is not been projected until around 20, I am hoping the Sox can get Justin O'Conner. Chicago will draft him...just not the AL team.
  5. Wow, I hadn't even seen the draft rumbling about Grandal. That's great news if true. Reds are a threat to take Grandal, but I have a feeling they'll look at pitching. They took a catcher high in the draft a few years ago that's playing better (Morasco, I believe his name is).
  6. A question to ponder: if Grandal falls on draft day due to some of the uber-talented tough signs being picked high (Wilson, Karsten, Allie), do the Sox take him?
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Of course not, that's just silly. So how do we judge which player hit 50 home runs in a season fair and square?
  8. Assuming Wojo is pitching for The Citadel today, he's shutting out Va Tech thru 4.
  9. Here's my question: with numbers declining everywhere on offense, does this mean anyone that put up huge numbers in the last decade was using illegal enhancers?
  10. I was watching highlights of that Jimenez pitch, and I remembered thinking that was a filthy change-up. Then, I looked up and it was 99 mph!! His 90 mph splitter is just a ridiculous pitch, the true definition of Nintendo stuff. BTW, the Strasburg hype has gotten me pumped up for Tuesday. I already DVR'd that game in case I'm not back from work in time. Speaking of Nationals, anyone see the 9th inning of that game yesterday? First C. Lee misplays a Willie Harris triple badly, and then Guzman misses a routine fly ball in RIGHT FIELD! C. Lee follows with a walk-off.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Right theory, wrong poster. There's definitely a few around here that I think get a kick out of the Sox struggles. But fathom ain't one of them. Thanks J4L. I'm vocal when the Sox lose, but I'm around here win or lose. I love talking about the White Sox, etc. but I can't control how many posts there are to respond to, which happens to be significantly less when we do win.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) You could threaten to cut my arms and legs off and I will never say winning it all in 2005 was a bad thing. But I think the way we won it has ultimately turned out to he the death of this franchise (for the moment). The thing is, it's the misconception about the way we won it that's hurt more than anything. Sure, Pods was great the first 2 months or so, but we still hit a ton of home runs and the entire team thrived due to its strong starting pitching and once-in-a-lifetime bullpen.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) I will say this much, you guys have gotten me pretty amped up (although I ultimately expect to be disappointed) for Monday. Nice to have something to look forward to with the way the team is performing. Good conversation all-around. The thing that I've really liked about the Beckham and Mitchell picks the last two years is that it seems the Sox drafted the best player available at the slot, regardless of position. I hope we're not too focused on drafting "a college pitcher" to pass up on talented players with significantly higher ceilings.
  14. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I must have forgotten those two instances. It just seems that you enjoy bashing the Sox to the point where you'd almost rather see them lose just so you have something negative to say. But hey, maybe it's just me. Well, as the moderator of the futuresox board, I would have thought you'd remember me leading the praise of Beckham during the College World Series (unless of course if you weren't around much then, which is totally understandable). Due to the awfulness of the Sox 3 of the last 4 years, I've actually enjoyed during draft research a lot more than I used to.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws This was Ozzie's baby from day 1. He deserves a pretty decent sized chunk of the blame for what's taken place so far. Not referring to Kite, but it's been amazing to see those that at the beginning of the season state they were optimistic because Ozzie finally has "his team" backtrack from that and try to blame KW for the roster.
  16. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Nothing like basing an opinion on all of 1 inning pitched. Well, considering he'd be an overdraft at #13, and then watching his fastball getting squared up easily with pretty mediocre offspeed pitches....why not? They say his fastball is his calling card, but it didn't look faster than 91 or 92 mph. If we were picking 30th and supposedly interested in him, then that's a different story.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Awesome, thanks. I'm a big fan. I was extremely impressed with how the ball jumped off of his bat in the Under Armour game.
  18. Anyone else see the interview with Deshields Jr. on ESPN2 this morning? Not exactly the most exciting public speaker. They asked him why he is excited to play professional baseball, and he said it's all about the money.
  19. BTW, Law also said that Castellanos is the only non college pitcher that's a possibility for the Sox.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) I assume you think 9/11 was a conspiracy as well. This was Kenny's team with Reinsdorf's budget. I doubt Ozzie wanted Teahan, Vasquel and Pierre. Ozzie wants a certain mold but definitely NOT these guys. Juan Pierre is absolutely, positively 100 percent Ozzie's boo
  21. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Shocking. You dislike someone the White Sox are interested in. Even if they ended up with Bryce Harper you'd probbaly find a way to b**** about it. How many of these college players do you/we actually get to see play? I doubt anyone on here has seen Loux pitch, and after seeing him in the first inning, all I was saying is that I hope Workman/Wojo are better than he is (especially given his injury background).
  22. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Shocking. You dislike someone the White Sox are interested in. Even if they ended up with Bryce Harper you'd probbaly find a way to b**** about it. What the heck? When it comes to the draft, I'm much more optimistic. I was all over Beckham and Mitchell the last two seasons, in a good way.
  23. Law has us taking Wojo. BTW, B. Loux is pitching on ESPNU right now. Count me out as unimpressed.
