  1. No release point so far for Danks. Can't let Tampa jump ahead here.
  2. Pierre has got to stop bunting. He must be 2-20 this season when bunting.
  3. Nice 0-3 with 3 K by Rasmus today. So much talent, he just needs to hit the ball.
  4. With that extra payroll for the Cubs, can we just trade them Jenks for Colvin and a minor league arm? Colvin would be nice insurance if CQ continues to be BS.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) MLBN had on their scrawl yesterday that Rosenthal is reporting Dempster is deferring 3m this year so the Cubs can try to add a little payroll Outside of a set-up man, what position do they really need to upgrade?
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) IMO a lot is going to depend on what the Cubs and Reds do until July, if the Cards are in first with the Reds close by and the Cubs 5-8 games behind, they may stand pat. If the Reds or Cubs make a serious charge then their hand might be forced. FWIW, many baseball writers are saying it's unlikely the Astros would trade Oswalt in the division unless they got a ridiculous package for him. With June right around the corner, I'd say the Reds being in front of the Cardinals in the standings with Volquez/Chapman lurking is a pretty serious threat.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) Problem is their farm might be as bad as ours. I know, it's too bad. I still think Jenks is a perfect fit with the Reds. Cardinals are going to have to trade for some starting pitching.
  8. Come on Cardinals, you know you want to give up the farm for Mark Buehrle. With Lohse out for the year and Brad Penny always a threat to not recover, you're going to need two more starters.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) who's pitching for the Cards tomorrow? Hopefully Wainwright or Garcia Wainwright, but they don't match up well with Dempster as the Cardinals have looked horrible on every offspeed pitch they've seen this week. They made Jon Garland look like he has a good slider.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Get Aramis back in the line up so Fontenot can get back to the bench. Fontenot and Colvin should play every time they face a RHP. I had no idea Fontenot was as good as he was 2 years ago.
  11. Ottavino better hope he can be a reliever, because with his lack of control and no secondary pitches, he'll never be a MLB starter.
  12. Some Little League-esque defense by the Cardinals this inning. Schumaker whiffed on the easy out at 2nd, and then the awful throw home. The Cardinals are a very confusing team this year. Not a lot of energy on the field, where as the Reds have a ton of energy.
  13. Cain also has thrown two straight shutouts, so his ERA is going to plummet. Silva's been sensational this year, no other way to describe it.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ May 29, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Must be nice to be teh Cardinals. Pull up a career minor league pitcher and he is throwing 96. Not sure if that is legit or he is amped up. I think's he just amped up. He has absolutely no offspeed pitches, and the second time thru the lineup, he's going to have trouble.
  15. 6 of first 8 outs are K's for Silva. Did he even strike out 6 all last season? I'm beginning to see why Cards fans already hate McGwire as their hitting coach.
  16. Silva looks sensational out there. Hitting his spots, mixing up his pitches...what the heck?
  17. I watched some videos on MLB.com of Asher and Workman, and I'm not impressed with either, to be honest. Workman's secondary pitches seemed very mediocre, and his fastball is in the low 90s. Castellanos' video was pretty impressive, as he was reaching the warning track at Wrigley without even swinging hard.
  18. He needs to stand on the plate. He is so far off, anytime he tries to pull the ball, he ends up hitting it off the end of the bat.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I'm a huge Homer Bailey fan. Edison Volquez is a major wildcard. If he can be even 75% of what he was in '08 then we're talking. But that's a huge if. As of right now, I have to go with the proven team that features the two best pitchers in the division and best player on the planet. My boy, J. Gomes, is a fantastic player for the Reds. Strong hitter, and also a fantastic spark off the bench.
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 29, 2010 -> 02:48 AM) He used his very best pitcher to get the most important out of the game. Makes sense to me. Awesome managing by Cora in this one. Seriously, it was great. I loved how he used Santos for Bartlett, knowing there were no other good match-ups for Santos possible besides facing Longoria.
  21. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 29, 2010 -> 01:45 AM) Now put Bobby in to close it out. Be smart Joey. Let me guess, you have Jenks on your fantasy team?
