Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread

Beautifully designed play by VDN coming out of that timeout. I agree that Salmons gives them the best chance to win in that situation. He's doing a great job! -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) You know... if we did get Carl Crawford for Carlos, and still ended up landing Adrian Gonzalez (pipe dream, I know)... I'd be perfectly fine with Andruw Jones as an everyday right fielder. And then we'd either have to have a 125 million dollar payroll in 2011 to keep the roster together...or the deals would basically put the Sox in a situation where they have a year to contend before the window closes.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) I hope he had too many beers, but I read an Ozzie quote where he said Vizquel may even DH AND lead off occassionally. 1995 called and said "Good idea". Well, he also wants Beckham to bat 6th or 7th. It's too early to freak out about everything he says, I guess.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) Especially if they are going to make the DH guys like Kotsay and Jones rotating. You aren't going to win short a bat in the AL. I still believe that I wish we didn't bring Kotsay back, as there's no doubt he'll get too many at bats next season.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) I like Andruw, but honestly i'd almost rather move TCQ to DH and play Jordan Danks in the OF then devote time to a guy that really has nothing left to prove at this point. I really do think the division is bad enough that Danksy could get 250+ AB's that wouldn't be detrimental to the team. I hope KW can render all this mute by bringing in Upton or another name. So, Danks can pay his due diligence in AAA. I honestly believe that if Danks got time in the majors next year, it would be a huge mistake.

Matsui is the perfect fit for DH, and I think we have a great chance of getting him.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Is that Iowa punts or total punts? I realize GT can score, but Iowa has a premiere defense and I would expect that we could force at least two GT punts. And Iowa doesn't exactly have a potent offense, although they are close. Paul Johnson doesn't punt the ball if it's 4th down and fewer than 5 yards. That's how little confidence he has in his defense. And that's for punts in a game. There have been no punts by either team in the last 9 quarters GT has played. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) All I can say is, lets go Hawkeyes, lets beat Fathom and his Georgia Techies!!!! Over/under on punts in the game is 1.5. You haven't faced a defense as bad as Georgia Tech's all year. It consists of a top 10 draft pick and then 10 high school caliber players. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 02:43 AM) Finally got around to watching FLASH FORWARD on DVR. Didn't realize it is on miatus until March. I'm not really into the show but am curious how it comes together. This last episode was actually pretty good.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 01:22 AM) They completely f'd themselves with their TV ratings. Nobody is going to watch GT/Iowa or TCU/BSU. Agreed, GT/Boise and TCU/Iowa would have been the way to go. You get the non-BCS teams to go against each other. The Boise/GT over would have been like 80 points also. -

Weirdest ending I've ever seen in the Illinois/Fresno game. -

Benn's going to go pro. He's already #3 on McShay's WR rankings, and with the rookie salary cap coming in 2011, I just can't see many players returning next year that are draft eligible. -

Wow, I'll give credit where it's due Mr. John Wall. Two sick plays by him already today. -
Rumors all over the place that Umaga has died from a heart attack.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 02:21 AM) thats gotta be tough to reverse that call in front of a home crowd that just rushed the floor, but I think it was the right call, still had the ball in his hand at zeros Yeah, after maybe seeing it for the 5th time, you could see it was still on the finger tips. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 04:16 AM) Wow, phantom call much? Even the announcers said it. All I can do is laugh every time I see Ryan Reid and Luke Loucks on the floor. They both suck. Horribly. They will never amount to anything. I'll never understand why Hamilton sits Alabi so much. -
I predicted Vlad as our DH at the end of last season, and I still think there's a good chance it happens. I'm excited to see him in a Sox jersey, as we'll be able to give him his World Series ring from 2005.

Good, Shoppach seems to do a lot of damage against our lefty starters.

Sox will not offer arbitration to Dotel, Dye, Pods or Castro

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 12:22 AM) He also talked for the most part of 08 how much Floyd sucked. He has since eaten crow on that one. I made sure of it, because as his time progressed I turned into one of the biggest Floyd backers on this site. I also argue that over the last two seasons he has been our best starting pitcher. Danks is a close 2nd, but Floyd goes deeper into games and that is why I'd ultimately take Floyd. Buehrle has also been rock solid and was clearly the ace in terms of leadership purposes, but Floyd was very very good the past two years. Jason, I'm sure you saw the Bill James thing about how dominant Gavin's curve is (.410 OPS against). -

QUOTE (Ranger @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) But you did think the Floyd deal was terrible. I saw your posts. Absolutely...something that a lot of people forget is that it was during the Bulls game where the trade was first announced, and the announcers were saying there was a major leaguer involved in the deal coming to the Sox also. I didn't go back and read the thread, so I can't remember who it was (Rowand maybe?). When we found out the trade was just Gio/Gavin, that's when most of us got really pissed. -
