  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 08:30 PM) I think the bigger debate with the whole coaching debate is the candidates that will be available this off-season. It's a HOF class to chose from. It's always been the Bears M.O. to not spend a ton of money on a coach, instead just promote a coordinator, but I would hope that would change. You probably are more in sync with the media than I am about this, but I heard Shanahan's name mentioned as the likely candidate a lot lately.
  2. This is just comical, Gould's our best defensive player. Can we beat Notre Dame to the punch and hire Brian Kelly now?
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) the bengals game was worse I was at that game, and I have tried to block it out. I'm not sure it was worse though, as the Bengals at least have a balanced offense. The Cardinals are running it down our throats, and they suck at that aspect.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) Lovie's job HAS to questioned after this debacle Lovie Smith, welcome to South Bend, Indiana. Who am I kidding, they would never hire a black coach again!
  5. If we're going to lose, let it be in blowout fashion in order to incite change.
  6. This is the worst defensive performance I can ever recall by the Bears.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) What's new? That's been happening for years. The Cover-2 is a failed experiment. It leaves he team wide open for short passes. Time for a whole new coaching staff.
  8. That was a ridiculous play, great job by Cutler!
  9. Ugh, nightmare start. If Hunter's out, that means Roach will be calling plays again!
  10. As a GT fan, I truly believe there might be coaches as good as Paul Johnson, but there are no coaches that are better. Huge f***ing balls by him to go for it on 4th and 1 in OT down 3.
  11. Don't like to hear Beckham even mentioning something about the "politics involved with it". I can't wait for these veterans to leave, as there's no doubt the clubhouse will be better off for it.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) Exactly, if we are settling on Thome we are in deep trouble. He's in serious decline, is a terrible base clogger and really doesnt appear to fit on this team. Time to wish him a good retirement. You guys said it a lot better than I did. We all love Thome for the person he is, but I don't want to watch him hit for the Sox anymore.
  13. QUOTE (almagest @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) I think Thome is the best option we have for DH at this point. At this point? We have no idea who's going to be available this offseason. Unless Thome is willing to take a one year, one million dollar contract, I say no thanks.
  14. Well, the one thing this trade does is increase Beckham's chances at making the Hall of Fame.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) I would have taken Matsui if he didnt just go and increase his price tag in one game. Finding a cheap DH who can hit 20-25 homers in our park really shouldn't be too difficult. I'm not worried about our power at all, as this team would finally be able to hit a decent amount of doubles.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) I've been toying around with something. Last offseason, one of the huge rumors was Teahen to the Cubs for Fontenot and Marshall. If we did that, got a solid lefty-bench bat, and a lefty-spot starter (with a heart-breaking curve) who can work out of the pen.... would we be encouraged? Is this possible? Not a chance in hell Cubs deal Marshall right now with the uncertainty of Lilly's shoulder.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) I also wonder if Retherford has really opened the org's eyes to the point that it made Getz a bit more expendable. Or was Getz moved because of the stuff said in that Gonzalez interview. The Sox will be going after one of the 2nd basemen in the FA market. Nix will be the back-up again, and Teahen will be playing RF for the Sox next year. I think Orlando Hudson is the likely 2nd baseman for the Sox next year.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) Duh, just JD has spent alot of time with said women, just sayin..... I understand completely!
  19. J.J. Hardy is awful, I'm very happy to see this trade from a Sox perspective.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) S'Later then Mr Dye. The women of depaul will miss you. Haha...women from University of Texas>>>>>>>>>women from DePaul
  21. I was told by a family friend of Dye's this morning that his first choice is to go play for Ron Washington and Texas.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) You lost me here. Who are you saying was the problem there, and who do you think will be at what positions now? I thought Getz and Ramirez were an awful combo and had no rhythm when turning the double play (Getz's arm was also extremely weak on the relay).
  23. At least we're one step closer to improving our double play combo, which I still believe cost us 5-7 games due to inability to turn crucial double plays.
  24. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Here's my thought on it. Starting pitching isn't the reason we lost last year (other than Jose sucking a bunch early). It was offense and bullpen. So far we have not resigned one of our better hitters last year (and we most likely won't), picked up a guy with a .754 OPS. Nix won't leadoff, you know Ozzie wants his speedy, slappy leadoff hitters.
  25. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) Josh Fields still has more potential than Jayson Nix. Disagree, as at least Nix is a great base runner and superior fielder. Both have the potential to hit for above average power with a low batting average. I would be shocked if Fields is even in the majors 3 years from now.
