4/17 GT: Sox @ Indians, Peavy v. Westbrook
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Fathom, How do we know that the gameplan isnt "Westbrook throws easy to hit pitches early in the count, we have to jump on him" That wasnt a great pitch, when do our hitters start to actually produce? All CQ has to do is hit the ball in the air, that should have been his #1 priority. The pitch location was down the middle and sinking, CQ has to do better than beating it into the ground. Westbrook pitched around Beckham to set up the double play. First pitch is a low and in sinker, and Quentin chased it. If that was our game plan to chase the low and in sinker, then Walker should be fired immediately. Westbrook isn't going to strike you out, so the game plan should be "make him get the pitch up in the zone".

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) CQ has had like 2 good games and 10 s***ty ones this year. That's not going to work from your 3 hole hitter. He's more of a 5 hole hitter now. He's not a good overall hitter. In an ideal world, Beckham would be the #3 hitter. But you know what, in the scheme of things, Quentin isn't going to make or break this season.

Screw that, Quentin has to be smarter than that. STOP SWINGING AT THE FIRST PITCH! Our hitters continue to play right into the opposition's game plan. That's something Walker deserves criticism for.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) If Ozzie is smart, he'd run with Beckham here to avoid the DP. Completely agree, if not, a DP is like a 50% possibility

Nice to see the bottom of the order contribute!

Nice defense that inning. And yes sqwert, this team can't contend this season as currently constructed.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
You could argue the Sox had just as much talent as the Twins every year since our rivalry with them started during the 21st century. This year, it's not even comparable.

And that's 9 in a row retired. Fire everyone!!

wow, please don't sign AJP to an extension. He has absolutely no bat speed anymore. Some pathetic swings on 3-1 pitches this inning.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) Really? I don't know if I believe that. What was last season then? Just leftover juice? He had some awesome stuff those 3 starts last year. The movement on some of his pitches was baffling the hitters. I think Peavy is going to be fine. 3.5 ERA, 200+ K's. He was throwing in the 91-92 mph range last year also.

This umpire freaking sucks. That hasn't been a strike all game.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) Peavy doesnt have his best stuff, but hes through 4 giving up only 1 run. I have a feeling this is what his stuff is. It's serviceable, but no longer Cy material.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Terrible execution by Perralta. Why, there was one out?

Valbuena should not get anything good to hit here.

6 rockets so far for Cleveland today. His cutter is a TERRIBLE pitch!

5 pitches, 3 outs. Holy f*** is this team boring.
-
4/17 GT: Sox @ Indians, Peavy v. Westbrook
4 pitches, 2 outs.

This is about the time we have 9 consecutive batters make an out. What's with all these feeble swings before getting 2 strikes?

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) I dont' think leadoff hitters are allowed to drive in runs. I just get so frustrated that we let our worse hitter continue to get the most plate appearances. Sadly, I have little faith in Ozzie to ever bench or move his slappy crush from the leadoff spot.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) This offense is horrible i just wonder how long this will last for What changes can even be made? More Omar Vizquel? KW and Ozzie need to live and die by their acquisitions over the last 2 years. If those guys flop, then they need to be gone as well.

And then Pierre with a prevent swing on the first pitch. Westbrook has NOTHING on his pitches, and we still can't f***ing score. Nice DH we have today, isn't it? It's not good when Peavy has more power than Pierre does.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) And of course Westbrook stays away from him, and Teahen hits it in front of Rios. We continue to get set up by pitchers day in, day out.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Ha, the definition of BP. Hes usually around 94-96, right? Maybe he just needs a little more time to get back into pitching. I don't know. But there's no way hes gonna do well with that kind of fastball. He hasn't been in the 95-96 mph range for a while.

Just pathetic fundamentals there. Teahen had zero chance to pull that ball to the right side.
