  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 03:49 AM) He has a lot of work to do on defense and with his rebounding but he is going to be a fantastic offensive player for sure. And I'm not worried about him becoming at least an adequate defender and rebounder. Nope, he seems to be a really good kid from what people say about him. Something that's very important is that some of the players with poor work ethics leave the program before they set a bad example for some of the superior talents coming in. If you have guys like McCamey and Davis showing Richmond/Leonard/Head how to go through the motions, then that's a disaster waiting to happen.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) we are surrounding beckham with pierre and mark kotsay. that's sandwiching a steak with two cow pies. Kotsay could be batting 7th and Pierre 9th, and I would still say the bottom of our order is weak. I will also predict that if Ozzie tries to play Kotsay 4 times a week, he will be on the DL for an extended period.
  3. My prediction is that 2 seasons from now, Tyler Griffey will be the best player on Illinois' roster. He's going to be a very good player.
  4. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4754935.story Vizquel's going to get far too much playing time. It's shocking to me what our lineup might look like.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 03:40 AM) From Mr. Gonzales article in Trib. It's obvious Oz loves Kotsay. Hopefully this guy can hit like Oz thinks he can. Greg, you might have been the only person on this site who would have made a positive comment about this thread. I give you credit for that.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 02:39 AM) Jimmy Dykes is Mike Patrick bad as an announcer. I have no idea how some of these guys have jobs. No effort at all from the juniors tonight. And at least if Illinois loses I will never have to watch Keller play basketball again. You see Keller give Weber a bad look after being removed following his tip dunk? Everything I've heard about Keller is that he's just a huge cancer in the locker room.
  7. Tisdale's 2nd half was quite comical. 2 missed layups, and then fouling out about 10 seconds after being brought back in the game. Dayton's too quick for him anyways....if you didn't hear Jimmy Dykes say that 2,000 times.
  8. If Hewitt leaves GT, look for GT to be a major player with Tubby Smith. Sounds like there's a good chance it happens if Hewitt leaves.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 03:58 AM) huh, just read something that said hewitt is the backup choice for iowa behind gregg marshall, although rumor is marshall said no today. Hewitt won't go to Iowa. If he doesn't go to St. John's by Friday, he'll stay at GT next year. As of tonight, he has met with St. John's but is sleeping on his decision. I'd say it's 60/40 that he goes to St. John's....and let me say that 100 pct of the GT fan base is hoping he leaves.
  10. f*** me, Hewitt's staying at Ga Tech
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Sheldon is my favorite character on any sitcom right now. His drunk rant last night was fantastic. The C-Men joke was great as well.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Repeat after me, Spring Training is about getting work in and not about results. See Anderson, Brian the king of ST for a reference of HOF ST guys who can't hit the same pitchers when they move north. Breaking ball pitchers particularly have issues in Arizona in ST. Breaking pitches do not have the depth that they do when they leave. Guys are just throwing to the glove, getting their work in, working on a location or pitch. This is why guys like Brian Anderson can look like the next version of Willie Mays in Arizona only to get punked when breaking pitches start to dart and dive. Also with about 2 weeks to go most starting pitchers start to get a dead arm period as part of the process of building their arm up to push 90 to 100 pitches. Yep, and it's why Andruw Jones performing well shouldn't be surprising. He can hit anyone's fastball, and with the ball not breaking much in Arizona, he's going to crush pitches. Same goes with Soriano.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) So fathom Ga Tech seems like they're trying to pawn off Hewitt on SJU. Yep, it would be the greatest thing ever for GT to escape that contract.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 01:08 AM) Duke only beat up on terrible, terrible Cal team. Of course, Wake is terrible too, but when you beat a team by 30 as talented as them, well, it's impressive. Cal is not terrible, but people don't realize how sensational Duke is on defense.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) Syracuse has looked awesome. Crap, meant to include them. They're far and away our best hope to beat Kentucky. They have the length and size down low, and they'll make Kentucky beat them from the perimeter.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 12:59 AM) I'm missing something, did Wisconsin win? Big 12 has 3 sweet 16 teams as well. Kansas' and A&M's losses were bad, but the Big Ten has just played to seed. Can't say by far the best. It's amazing how many breaks Wisconsin gets every year with regards to upset in the region. Too bad they couldn't capitalize on this, even though that Wisconsin team was smoke and mirrors this season.
  17. Kentucky, Cornell, and Duke were clearly the 3 most impressive teams this weekend. I love the line by draftexpress about how it's the battle of the future lottery picks against their future financial consultants. With the game being in Syracuse, everyone besides Kentucky fans will be cheering for Cornell.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) 4 Naismith finalists... Evan Turner John Wall Wesley Johnson AND Sherron Collins LOL Yep, what an absolute joke. Should have been James Anderson. Collins was horrible this season. He'll have a fun time playing in Israel next season.
  19. Fantastic finish!!
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) And his elbows and hooks look much more prominent against a smaller guy like Lighty which is why they've called at least the last borderline one. I agree, it's pretty weak officiating and I've seen enough college basketball to know that officials are too stupid to realize the point you made.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) LOL, he was clearly dragged down. Take a look at the constant reaching and holding on Turner every time he walks down the court thats not getting called. It's happening both ways between him and Shumpert. Don't worry, I'm not going to harp on this after the game. I'm man enough to admit when one team is better than the other. I just wish Favors could have been given a little more leniency by the refs, as two of the calls have been quite weak on him.
  22. Wow, nice tackle by Lauderdale not called for a foul. Good luck next round Rock.
  23. Another absolutely bogus offensive foul on Favors. Maybe two Big 10 refs shouldn't be doing this game? This is absolutely pathetic.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) They should have called even more on GT, they are a bunch of hacks. Just because the fouling helps them out, doesnt mean its the refs. If OSU could hit the side of a barn with their shots they'd be up by alot. All I know is Madsen got more respect from the refs in the first half than 2 potential 1st round picks for GT did. Both teams played god awful though, so Ohio St. should be in great position if they make any of their shots in the 2nd half. Hopefully Favors can get one touch on offense.
  25. Refs and turnovers have made this GT/Ohio St. game unwatchable. I'm not going to go all Illinois basketball fan here, but the refs have certainly helped out Ohio St. so far.
