2009 AL Central Thread
Griffey just hit a 2 run homer to tie it at Minnesota, and he hit it in the hole for the Subway sign for someone to win $25k.

What an awful game for my brother to take his new baby to for her first Sox game. As DAllen always says, KW is ripping off our fans this year.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) Do you guys remember what he looked like in CF last year? I really can't. He's also having a hard enough time at the plate, I doubt it would help him. All I remember him is having a great throw to get a runner out at 2nd base.

Good AB for Nix...bench him for 2 more games.

2 of the 3 worst offensive performances at home I can remember in the same series. If we want to have money to afford more players, why not just not employ a hitting coach? I don't think things could get much worse if Walker was gone.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Nix has a .261 career BA, 331 OBP and around 740 OPS in the minors over 8 years. He might be great defensively up the middle, but he's not an option for the outfield. He has to play 2B/SS. Ramirez might as well go down with Contreras...and he can take Lillibridge with him. Unfortunately, bringing up Josh Kroeger and Eider Torres isn't going to guarantee an AL Central title. Nix is giving you good at bats right now. That's what this team needs. No one said he's the option for the next 3 to 5 years. Right now, this offensive personnel is not working. Maybe Carl Everett can return and play CF?

QUOTE (Brian @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) Drill him!!!! /poor sport I totally agree with you. I've never liked Ozzie, but at least when he was crazy, it would make you think he was bringing some passion to the clubhouse. Maybe Jerry Reinsdorf will have to put out a comment to the media to our players next.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) Oh yeah, I forgot how he has been tearing it up so far. At least Alexei in CF allows you to open up a spot for Nix at SS or calling up Beckham. The big issue is that when Anderson returns, Pods will still start against RHP most likely.

EASE HIS PAIN....send him down. A surprising 0-4 for Lillibridge.

0-6 on about 12 pitches from Alexei/Corky.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) exactly. Which is why even if this team did decide to wave the white flag and start making trades, i have little confidence in their ability to make good ones. It does help having Buddy Bell around, though. At least now we have a chance in philosophy and have removed some people that might have had mischevious agendas.

Will Dotel throw at a Rangers hitter in the 9th? It would be fitting if we don't.

And to think we put the fate of Tuesday's game vs KC in Broadway's less than capable hands.

It feels like we've been blown out at home more this season than all of last year. Good thing we've won most of our close games, because we're not very competitive in far too many games. That's a sign of a TERRIBLE team.

1 hit through 7 innings. Padilla's allowed 2 hits in his last 15 innings.

Rangers vs. Palehose Game Thread 5/10/08--1:05pm CSN
Well, Broadway's warming!!!! And hey Ozzie, the 8th or 9th inning would be a perfect time for Broadway to hit a batter. We've been hit 6 times in the season series vs Texas, and they've been hit once.

QUOTE (tommy @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) Remember how Hawk was saying that Ozzie hasn't been this excited ever in the spring training, how this team has a lot of potential. Hawk also said Jose was throwing an unbelievable cutter. All that talk was to divert the general Sox fan's attention instead of asking: what exactly happened to our payroll?

If the score holds, we've scored 1 run or less in 6 of Lillibridge's last 7 starts. He's our good luck charm, and it's not like the guy who would have been starting (Pods) is an actual MLB player either. Wily Taveras would have looked so good.

This team can hit the hell out of the ball, especially with Hamilton/Young back next week. Pretty pathetic we went 2-4 against them this year with no Hamilton.

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) I'm just happy that my 2005 WS glee is still holding strong and I don't allow myself to get the same White Sox angst that I used to. Same could be said for KW and Ozzie.

Contreras Accepts Option to AAA
QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Unless...someone else is coming up. Egbert...Link... It could be Whisler, as Ozzie said he wanted a LHP. It won't be Egbert.

This game's reminding me of the first game we had against Galarraga this year. You need to be able to stack your lineup with more than 3 lefty hitters when you're facing a guy with such drastic splits. The sooner DWise gets healthy, the better.

Why are Stoney/Hawk making Padilla out to be a great pitcher? He's been really bad the past few years.

Carrasco is a lot of fun to watch pitch.

Looks like it will be Broadway starting. I can't believe KW and Ozzie had a meeting and go "you know what, Broadway gives us the best chance to win a game as a starter". It's not like Richard and Carrasco are helping the Sox win games right now, as they only pitch in defeats.
