QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Getz had a good day or two, that's about it. Ozzie's done a GREAT job handling Getz at the plate this season by putting on hit-and-run whenever possible.

I know I've missed a few games on tv, but has Getz hit any balls hard this season?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 06:41 PM) Well...if you're going to get on Betemit, you have to get on Brian Anderson for never picking up a runner from scoring position. But it would have been nice to add a run or two. You don't expect Floyd to pitch a shutout in the Dome. Anderson's going to have to be selective with this new patient approach. It's great when leading off an inning, but with RISP, you can't get down in the hole by letting good pitches to hit go.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) WB not bunting is bulls*** , Sox have a chance to KO TB and he hits into a DP. He has shown me nothing this year! The chances of a successful bunt there are less than the chances of hitting into a double play.

Wasted opportunity...get your head out of your ass Betemit!

AJP stays hot...1st and 2nd, no outs for the struggling Betemit. Don't bunt here with PK on 2nd!

Great eye by PK...love seeing our guys lay off the 3-2 offspeed pitch.

The shift costs Tampa the double play. 3-0 Sox

Tightness in right quad for Upton

Loaded for Thome...make him get that fastball down in the zone.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) I think that's the same thing that happened to Sweeney a couple years ago wasn't it? Exactly

2 on for CQ...nice job by Lillibridge.

The biggest thing Getz has to do to stay in the big leagues is turn on that inside fastball. The scouts are definitely reporting that if you pitch him inside, he will chase that pitch all day and not hit it with authority.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) That ball was sharply hit, if it passed Garza it probably would've gone up the middle. I don't think it would've been a DP. They were shading PK right up the middle.

Great AB by Anderson to lead off the inning. Time for the Getz hit and run?

Adam Jones left the Orioles game with hamstring issues. Could be good news for Sox.

Wow, that 1-2 pitch to Zobrist was a blatant strike. Strike 4 gets him

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) AJ swinging much better of late. Caught a break, as Garza broke up a likely double play by deflecting PK's flare up the middle.

Great to get on the board first!! AJP is short and quick right now.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) He seems overmatched at this level. But, then again we have Alexei struggling too. Players off to bad starts or is Lilli not ready to play at this level with the bat? Lillibridge is a high caliber MLB base runner...and an average AA hitter.

Nasty hook by Floyd to negate the steal of 3rd. Keep throwing offspeed pitch to Pena.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) How about Sox strikeouts to Sox hits today. Theoretically, we should hit Garza well, as he throws primarily fastballs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Almost think we'd be better off with Clayton Richard starting and holding back Floyd for the Orioles. That .375 BA of LH batters against Floyd doesn't bode well. Baltimore has some fantastic lefty hitters though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) chat today? or everyone expects Garza to mow us down and not watching, lol? Will there be more Sox hits or Tampa steals today?

Gross....Getz takes a called 3rd right down the plate, and then Lillibridge swings at a 58 footer on the 3-2 count. I don't care that he walked a few times the other day...batting Lillibridge 2nd against a RHP is just stupid.
