  1. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:08 AM) so you trade 3 prospects for swisher, and then trade swisher at the lowest possible value he could have. I'll pass. Agreed...I want to see Dye either traded or at DH, put CQ in RF, and let Swisher play LF and bat 7th.
  2. QUOTE (sox1844 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:03 AM) I don't get what the big deal is. OC played to his career averages, and we had a much better year than anyone expected. Good deal. Lets move on. He was brought in for situational hitting and clubhouse leadership. I think we can all agree he didn't live up to expectations there.
  3. Sox should trade Dotel...I think he'll have a lot of value.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:56 AM) Really? Damn, that would explain the recent track record...and that's why Rasmus and Drabek break down every year. Alright, screw the pipedream it would be a nightmare. Bailey's velocity is down to 91 mph now. If you're giving up Vazquez's 200 innings, you better get someone you know can be a starter.
  5. Homer Bailey = steroid user in high school. Same with the Rasmus boys and Kyle Drabek.
  6. People to target, besides the obvious Hudson/C.C./Blake/Furcal/Figgins: - Grudz - Brandon Phillips - Rickie Weeks - Alexi Rios - Fred Lewis
  7. Is Toby's contract up?
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) Toby Hall, Boone Logan, Horacio Ramiez, Mike MacDougal and Wasserman for a back-up catcher who can actually throw someone out and occasionally demonstrate some power (like Miguel Olivo/John Buck/Henry Blanco). I don't know if he'll find a starting spot, but how about Pudge Rodriguez?
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Buehrle and Danks are also left handed and kind of look at 1B the entire time. Both also have pretty good moves over there and quick deliveries. That's part of the reason they hold runners so well. Danks does a mediocre job of holding runners for a lefty pitcher.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:56 AM) I'd have no problem keeping him as a DH. I'm not sure what our options really are there. I don't see many takers for him in the trade market, and I don't know if he reached the AB goal to get his option picked up for 09. I would sacrifice losing some of his power production for more balanced at bats vs RHP/LHP and more contact. I love Tampa's DH combo of Floyd/Rocco.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:03 AM) I hope they work with Floyd on a cutter. He needs that pitch to keep the lefties honest. I want to see more change-ups and he should continue to work on his general command of his fastball.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:58 AM) The rest of your post has some great posts, but, uh, yeah... Game 2 of the World Series? That's the only other game I think could be considered better.
  13. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) You and Joe Cowley? Well geez if that's not proof I don't know what is. FWIW, there are people on here with inside info on how hated OC is.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:44 AM) Get us a leadoff man who can play 2B or CF and bring us a couple new SP, KW. Brian Roberts is far and away the perfect player for KW to acquire. The Orioles want to extend him, but if they don't, we're going to be in a bidding war with the Cubs for him.
  15. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:42 AM) Why is OC gettinng singled out? He's one of the few veteran players on this team who actually lived up to their career averages. fathom's had some weird psychotic hate for him all season and I can't quite understand it. Me and Joe Cowley and Jermaine Dye and others, I guess.
  16. It's almost a surreal feeling right now, but I am not in the slightest bit mad about the Sox losing today and losing the season. This year has been nothing but a positive, and here are the reasons why: - only Tampa has a better core of 4 young players that are as talented and cheap as our combo of Quentin/Ramirez/Danks/Floyd. When you think about how bad our minor league system has been for the past few years, it's crazy to think such a comment would be possible. - Paul Konerko had a great finish to the season. If KW does decide to trade him this offseason, his surge at the end will go a long way in boosting his value. When you think about how close he was to tearing his ACL and being out until after the ASB next year, it's huge for this organization that he was ok and finished strong. - KW trusted his instincts in not giving a 3 year, 30 million dollar extension to Orlando Cabrera prior to the season. One of the reasons OC was disgruntled at the beginning of the season was because he wanted KW to give him an offer, and KW wanted to wait. - The Sox played two days longer than the Chicago Cubs, and won one more game in the postseason. If you would have told me this would be the case prior to the year, I would have given you $1,000 and not asked any questions. - I think the team and the fans fell in love with each other again over the last week or so. The tiebreak game from last Monday might be the best game in the history of the Cell. - We never have to hear about how we choked away the division due to the f***ing Twinkie Dome. Here's to a great offseason KW!
  17. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:16 AM) How about good riddance OC, Crede, Javy, and Swisher. I wouldn't mind Griffey back as a 4th OF and pinch hitter for a couple million. His regular playing days appear over. Swisher OTOH = see ya later you smiley asshole. I want Griffey nowhere near the 2009 Sox, as I don't trust Ozzie to use him effectively.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:10 AM) I actually think Swisher will have a bounce back season next year. He's young and accomplished enough that it's a reasonable expectation. Swisher needs to get control of things on and off the field, and come into next season focused.
  19. Please let's keep this as a tribute to Cabrera. I thank Quentin every day that we didn't sign him to a contract extension.
  20. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) It took you about 5 seconds after the game to get this up. It's the one negative thread you'll get from me about this season. I'm absolutely thrilled with how this season went.
  21. Please decline arbitration, and go sign with the Twins. Please don't get hurt over the next two months. You're one of the most unlikeable Sox players of my lifetime. I can't wait to hear all the negative stories come out after you leave town.
  22. I think I was more frustrated when the Sox lost meaningless games in July than I am now.
  23. I love the way Maddon used Howell and Balfour this series. He went with his best players as long as he could. I can't wait for Balfour to get busted for PEDs in the offseason though.
  24. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) Is there any chance Contreras could be back healthy next year? It seems like no one talks about him anymore. Not until August or so
  25. QUOTE (DaGame2584 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 11:59 PM) Will the payroll expand any this offseason? Doubtful...likely have to unload some big contracts like PK, Javy, and/or Dye.
