  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) Wow. Those guys were getting solid wood on Thornton. Those are some of the best fastball hitters in baseball.
  2. Great reflexes by Crede. Fastball pitcher against fastball hitter. I'd pitch around him to get to Scott.
  3. That was a very difficult play by Crede. Hernandez scares the crap out of me, as he's had many clutch hits in the past.
  4. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) OMG. Watch Dotel f*** everything up again... How many 0-2 hits must he give up before realizing he needs to waste a pitch?
  5. What a terrible 0-2 pitch to Mora. Ozzie needs to just let Thornton start an inning.
  6. Yikes, that doesn't set up well for the bottom of the inning.
  7. Feels like we're really missing out on some insurance runs. Thome has got to pull that ball on a 2-0 count.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) If you said "Jim Thome is not clutch late in games" I'd actually agree with you. When you say "Jim Thome is not a clutch hitter" I greatly disagree. He really is pretty bad late in games, that I can not defend but he tends to come through big in the first 6 innnings. There's just something about Jim Thome (probably all the K's late in games) where people tend to forget all the times he comes up big in close games while a guy like Joe Crede who's "clutch" stats aren't all that impressive is considered one of the best clutch hitters in the game. (it seems like every time Joe Crede comes through with a big hit it's memorable, which leads me to believe that he's more "memorable" clutch than he is "consistently" clutch but that's a theory for another time) So really it's all about the wording. If you remember, I used to have the stats for Thome from 7th inning on in my sig. Great answer!
  9. CQ does a fantastic job of taking 3-2 offspeed pitches.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) He'll look good with Orlando Hudson or Brian Roberts in front of him next year. Damnit, Dotel. Alex Cintron just singled off you. Just say no to OHudson
  11. Kalapse, I have a question for you. Is it really that wrong of me to say Thome is not clutch because he doesn't deliver late in the game? I know all the stats, etc., but I just reflect on his time here, and can only remember two winning hits late in the game.
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:25 AM) The ironic thing is, he's pretty much incapable of driving the ball to RF with authority yet every time he finds himself in a funk he starts serving the ball the other way. The guy has a grand total of 1 opposite field HR in his career. That's such a great stat you found.
  13. Richard better not be starting this inning to face Payton.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) Alexei Ramirez is just an incredible hitter, it's an absolute pleasure to watch him do his thing. I love him in the leadoff or 2nd spot.
  15. Holy cow Crede....he looks like a pitcher at the plate in this game.
  16. Great job tonight Richard! Turn this over to our pen.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) Russell up Pitches have been way up in the zone this inning. He needs to make a good pitch on Millar.
