  1. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) OC walks. AJ needs to be patient, no first pitch hacks here. If we just don't swing, he'll walk everyone.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) OC AJ CQ Dye Thome Missile Swish Uribe Wise So, basically what maggsmaggs wanted. So we're playing Griffey Jr. against lefties, and giving him his days off against righties?
  3. I'm still extremely confident that things will get done. KW knows how important it is to bring a skilled middle infielder into the organization.
  4. Welcome to the Cards-Cubs rivalry Mr. Glaus.
  5. Hey, a win! Great job by Thornton and OC tonight.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) You want Thornton to face a right-handed Youkilis? Well...obviously Carrasco doesn't belong anywhere but in mop-up or before the 7th inning. But I don't trust Thornton there either, not against a RH batter. Honestly, I thought Thornton should have been facing Drew
  7. Thank you very much for staying in here.
  8. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) Carrasco is our righty setup guy? Jesus, get well soon, Linebrink. Rumor today is that he won't return this month.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) Dotel is either lights out or gives bunches up. DJ said what I was yelling. Stay with the heat. Dotel's fastball was in the 90 mph range...down a few from where he usually is.
  10. Just brutal managing....nothing like using your 2nd best reliever for one batter.
  11. Hey Ozzie...you have two lefties in the pen! Use one for Drew, and one for Ortiz!
  12. Freaking awful...not hard to see Dotel has nothing tonight.
  13. Just got in....get Dotel out of the game. His fastball has nothing on it.
  14. Is Thome hurt or just getting the night off?
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Are Ortiz and/or Lowell on the DL? Or sitting for a bit? Or playing hurt? They'll be in the lineup tonight.
  16. Any lineup news for tonight? Griffey Jr. better not be playing, and I wouldn't mind seeing Thome get a day off (Cox said he has a bad leg). Lester's better against lefty hitters.
  17. Dimitri Young vs 2005 White Sox = Troy Glaus vs 2008 Cubs 0-29 and counting for Glaus
  18. Ugh, I hate Jim Edmonds. I can't believe he's performing so well for the Cubs. He must have realized he lost his abilities while in San Diego and decided to go on the juice again.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) I've gotten the impression the last year or two that there may be a pretty big split between KW and some of his close assistants, and some others in his employ. Do you think it could be that KW still likes his pitchers to be in the 90 mph range mode with good mechanics and control, whereas some of the newer assistants want the "sexier" prospect?
  20. Some interesting splits on Egbert. At home (bandbox), he gives up a ton of homers but his ERA is below 4. On the road, he's given up 2 homers in 38 innings, but his ERA is brutal. What gives?
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) From what I've heard, its the complete opposite. The stuff I"ve heard is that the higher ups in the org like him a lot (well at least the GM does). I'm going off of what one of KW's assistants was saying in the press box a few weeks back. Is he really 3-10 with a 4.89 ERA? I guess I don't follow win-loss records too much.
  22. I know for a fact that the White Sox organization doesn't think Egbert's stuff is good enough for the majors. It's too bad, as I'd love to have a sinker baller as the long man. I wouldn't be surprised if he's dealt in the offseason as a throw-in.
