  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 05:45 AM) I'm going to take great pleasure locking this b****. Won't the Sox be in 1st based on win pct?
  2. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 04:43 AM) How much does that cost now? .. I guess if i didnt live in chicago I would look into it, I know my uncle in St. Louis has it since hes a sox fan, but I just never felt the need to buy it ... until now ha Watching late night west coast games while the wife is asleep is one of life's many treasures.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 05:41 AM) This thread would be locked if the Twins lose right? Hell yes, I hope it would. Go back and read my very first post...I said I hoped it was a short thread.
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 05:41 AM) They only play fundamental baseball in Minny. No one told them they had to do it on the road. Amazing what open air and grass can do. And not having air conditioning keeping the ball in the park?
  5. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 04:40 AM) So ... hows everyone getting this info, watching it or something. Im just doing the gamecast thing nothing to be proud of hah MLB Extra Innings....the greatest invention ever (I'll argue it's better than the NFL package and the college basketball package)
  6. Wait, what? The Twins make a crucial error? 9-6 Mariners.
  7. Mariners up by 1 in the bottom of the 7th!! Time for Morrow and Putz to do their thing.
  8. Mariners with a huge rally, as they're down 6-5 with RISP.
  9. Marlon Byrd with a 2 out walk off slam against Marte.
  10. Twins up 1-0 in the first. They just throw Lamb into the 5th spot, and he delivers with 2 outs.
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 01:58 AM) To go off on sort of a tangent, is there anyone around who doesn't know that bringing huge amounts of cash thru an airport will most likely get it taken away? The reason the FBI got involved so early was because they thought it was drug money.

    Tornado sirens

Sirens in St. Charles, but supposedly the tornado warning is no longer.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) Almost makes you wonder what and about whom Wilder will talk about with the FBI. As someone in that article said, this is coming to a head. There's some high-level executives that will have to answer serious questions, as the dealings are even shadier than what's been reported so far.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) Alright people keep in mind "bean" = ball to the head. If any of you truly believe a player should take a ball to the head for standing at home plate after they launch one then there's something wrong with you. How about "pegged" or "pelted"? At least these don't suggest any body part in particular So how about Jermaine's hop? Quentin's bat throw? Iguchi's bat flip? Do these deserve action as well? Do you seriously believe hitting Manny in the ass with a fastball is going to keep him from "showing you up?" If anything he's just going to stand at homeplate for an additional 5 seconds the next time he launches one off you. I don't condone up and in. If you want to send a message, do what Greinke did yesterday and hit someone in their ass.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) Good for Ozzie. This rant is exactly why the players love him. He is perfectly willing to take a bullet for the guys who are willing to go the wall for him. Agreed, and you better believe the Sox will be a little more fired up to face KC next week.
  16. Was it Carrasco that missed a Royals hitter in the first series after the ASB? This whole thing is so stupid, I have no problem with managers ordering pitchers to hit the opposition. The only time I have a problem with a pitcher throwing at a hitter is if it's in retaliation for a homer hit by the batter before.
  17. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Stopping at August 1st, in his last 168 games(going back to last year), he has put up a line of: .311, 41 HR, 106 RBI, 105 R, 3 SB. Best FA signing by the Sox ever? Great stuff...I agree with you, best Sox signing ever and already one of the top 10-15 most important Sox players in franchise history.
  18. QUOTE (almagest @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Seriously. He threw 6 innings of shut-out ball in that horrid stadium against probably the worst team in the AL. He gave up 3 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts. Good, but not great, numbers, especially the 3 walks. Guaranteed if Gavin went out there with the same line against the Indians in the Cell, people would be talking about how he's due to fall apart and the numbers are a fluke, blah blah blah. I think it has more to do with the massive, massive upgrade they made from Livan to Liriano, and how that is probably a 3-4 game swing in terms of wins for them the rest of the way. In all honesty, I don't think the Twins will play great baseball the rest of the way, especially with their schedule. However, the Sox are going to have to play above .500 baseball though, and won't be able to crawl their way across the finish line.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) Is this a joke? Believe it or not, you don't know more than scouts. Perhaps teams are shying away from a AAA 3B who turns 26 in 5 months and still strike out every other at-bat. I said it months ago that we wouldn't get much if we dealt Josh, because he's not as good as most want to believe. Actually it was from Joe Cowley, who said that KW knew he'd have to give up Fields in order to get a top-notch pitcher.
  20. QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 05:41 AM) I think KW is already planning on make a run at either Orlando Hudson or try for Brian Roberts again. It appears that they have already made their minds that Alexi is going to be the starting SS and they are looking to pair another speedy lead off hitter type at 2B. They already tried to do this when they almost traded Ocab to the dodgers, moving alexi to SS and using the prospects from LA to get Roberts from the O's. I think its pretty obvious that the sox would love to strengthen their up the middle D for 2009, especially if we are going to live with fields at 3B. Alexi at SS, Roberts/Hudson at 2B, Swisher at 1B, and Anderson/Wise in CF, with Konerko/Thome DHing seems to be the best route here. It would also give us a pure leadoff hitter in Roberts or Hudson and Alexi is maturing into a nice high AVG, placido polanco like, #2 hitter. Then follow that with CQ, Dye, Konerko/Thome, Fields, and AJ and u still have plenty of power in the lineup. That's a pretty bad lineup. Swisher's offense is below average for a 1st baseman, and you know that Anderson will never get handed the starting spot in CF.
  21. Javy is going the 3rd game of the series.
  22. Here's the problem with how we handled Fields this year. AAA is full of pitchers with mediocre fastballs. Hell, if you want a guy to see good fastballs in the minors, AA is the league to go to. My brother recently saw 6 straight games started by pitchers who threw slower than 88 mph against the Durham Bulls.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 05:03 AM) I almost feel sorry for Richard. My god have they teed off on him. There is no reason for him to throw another pitch for the big league team again this season. Next candidate, step up, son. Is it gonna be Haeger? I mean is it unanimous here that Richard cannot throw a pitch for the Sox again this season? He is brutal. Might as well be Poreda
