6/21 Game Thread Sox @ Cubs
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) This sucks. Why against the Cubs of all teams? Because they have a great offense?

Jose's stuff has been really awful lately.

Is the wind blowing out for these lefty hitters to hit an opposite field homer?

Our excuse for this loss
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:35 AM) That was a foul ball. If this game was anywhere else in the Majors, that ball is fair. The lines at Wrigley are fairly deep. The only reason it was close to fair was the wind at Wrigley pushing the ball towards the playing field.

Twins are playing really good baseball. After that ass kicking we gave them, I didn't expect them to be back in the race so soon.

Our excuse for this loss
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) I just saw the replay on Comcast and it sure looks like the ball changed direction and the only way it does that is if it ticked the foul pole. There's another pole right behind the foul pole. It clearly hit that pole, and was correctly called foul.

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
This was in the game thread, but supposedly Farmer and Stone were saying how suspicious the maturation process of G. Soto has been from medicore minor league hitter to premiere offensive hitting catcher. With Stone's connections to the Cubs, this is as close to a declaration of guilt as you'll get without a positive test.

I don't think there's been a positive thing said in this thread, so I will go ahead and state that John Danks.....stud!

I've never been so happy to see Red Sox stuff on TV. The Schilling stuff has dominated ESPN's broadcast.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (striker62704 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) I just watched the videos on MLB.com. Every homerun pitch thrown by the whitesox was right down the middle. You lose because you suck. Yep, Dotel's only effective when he can throw his high fastball at the letters. The homer Lee hit against him was down, and the Aramis homer was a weak slider down.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) You know what, that could turn into him missing a month and a half in regards to the Cub organization. They are great at the "mystery pain" kind of injury that drags out for an extended period of time. I heard they expect him to face the Sox next weekend in all likelihood.

Shoulder strain for Zambrano, nothing serious....shocking!

Zambrano will be fine. He leaves about 5 starts every season due to some type of shoulder or elbow or forearm discomfort.

Since Ozzie foolishly decided not to bunt, here's what really irks me: what in the hell was Thome's plan at the plate? In that situation, you better be trying your hardest to hook the pitch. His swing was so late on that 98 mph inside fastball, he gave himself no chance to advance the runner.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) Don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit. Leading off the 9th in a tie game is a bad thing? With the jet stream going out to center, how were CQ and Anderson's not gone?

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) watch the replay...it was a fastball low and away...ramirez was clearly leaning out over the plate looking fastball (as the cubs were all game) and he crushed it Aramis is one of the best clutch hitters in all of baseball. In that situation, he's about as dangerous as it gets.

How about our relievers stop giving up walkoff homers? That's four in our last 7 road games.

6/20 Game Thread - CWS @ CHC, 1:20pm CT
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) Except for 3 or 4 games this year, Dotel has pretty much been unhittable. The 7th inning is his. The 8th would have been Linebrink's and the 9th would have been Jenks'. It didn't work out. It doesn't always. I don't like Ozzie as a manager, but I can't fault him today. The only move I'd question is not having someone bunt Anderson into 3rd base, especially with OC on deck.

Cubs are the greatest home team I've ever seen. They must be outscoring teams by 100 this season in the 7th inning after the stretch.

Quite the meltdown by Marmol. Two walks, two HBP in the 4 batters he faced. All that, and the umpire was giving him some very generous strike calls.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) I actually like Len Kasper as an announcer, but he just said that he was glad they didn't make the rumored Brian Roberts deal because he likes what Cedeno and Gallagher have brought to the team. Gallagher's been very good for them, and with the way their offense has been, I'd rather have the young starting pitcher. Not only that, it gives them more depth to trade for someone like C.C.
