  1. Just read elsewhere that the Levine states the Sox asked the Royals about DeJesus.
  2. QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) Understood. However, they can't be stupid and act like little kids about it. Sure he may be exactly what they want and desire but they can acquire much more then that for Miggy, not to mention Willis on top of it. There's going to be a lot more involved than just Maybin and Miller, if this trade happens. I think it would be a great trade for the Marlins, as those two guys are better than anyone in the Angels proposition.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) Interesting. Didn't you say at one point you were interested in DeJesus coming to the Sox for CF? I think everyone has, but KC wasn't interested in trading for him. However, Moore's in a situation where he can possibly get the two guys he wanted to get more than anyone. I just hope they don't mind the suspension that Guillen will get.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) Did you miss the Quentin trade? Or do you think he won't be healthy? I think Owens will still get a lot of time in LF. Even KW said that Quentin will not only play in LF, but he'll get some games at DH and in RF.
  5. QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) I've seen that the Tigers need to deal Maybin + Miller just to land a Haren or Bedard. How in the world do they Miggy and Willis? That's ridiculous. Cause the one thing the Marlins desperately want in a trade in a young, stud CF. You don't get much more promising the Maybin.
  6. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) That he can play the OF is a plus. Why worry about it? It's depth and versatility. (assuming they get this guy) Why would they need Uribe AND Burke on the same roster?
  7. Rosenthal said today that the Guillen deal wouldn't cause them to stop pursuing Jones. They'd probably end up trading DeJesus along with a salary guy in order to clear some payroll.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) That's quite ridiculous and you damn well know it. There's no reason to lump in Milledge with Dukes, other than... well, skin color, really. The reason I brought this up is due to the stories I heard of what happened when Dukes roomed with Upton in the minors. I'm a big fan of Lastings, but he's quite a character also. I do agree with your next post about lumping the races into characteristics. Heck, just look at every scouting report on the way Chris Burke plays.
  9. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Well, what needs to happen is for Rowand to sign with the Dodgers. That would be the perfect scenario in that it eliminates most of the big players' need for a CF (unless of course the Yankees trade Cabrera to Minny or the BoSox deal both Crisp and Ellsbury (which was reported last night as a possibility). However, if the Dodgers were to sign Rowand, and the Red Sox acquire Santana using just one of Crisp/Ellsbury, then where is Jones really going to go? Here or SF? That would limit his options a bit and possibly bring him back into our range.... Kansas City for Jones
  10. QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) Well melissa, I am not sure when we last signed a free agent who was a boras client, but I am pretty sure this won't happen. Call me a fool, but KW is a miserable failure so far this offseason. It will not get better, and he will try to save his ass by over paying and bringing in Aaron Rowand trying to get a pass from Sox fans. Now, if he doesn't get Rowand he will try for crisp, eitherway these are not superstars that can change a team and leapfrog three other teams in the division unless you have tremendous pitching, which they won't, because your betting on the cum with Floyd who is very un proven, and Danks, who is years away from having a season like garland did a few years back and Contraras who is close to the end of his pitching life cycle. This division is just too tough. The sox have so many holes, its just too big to overcome in one season. I still find it comical he gives Uribe 4.5 million, only to then trade his best trade chip a week later for a SS. I like the Quentin move, but more for the next 4 years and not for 2008.
  11. If we traded someone like Aardsma for Burke, and then put Burke in a utility role, I think that's a great trade. However, with Uribe still on the roster, I'm worried we're getting Burke to play the outfield also.
  12. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) well if we can get jones..he'll put up better numbers than hunter next year..too bad we wont get him though There's not a single indication we're going after him. He's asking for the world, and Boras is his agent. It will likely either be Rowand, Crisp, or Owens.
  13. I demand a reality show starring Duke and Milledge next season!
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) I offer significant disagreement with this statement. Just look at the 5 major changes we've made this offseason. Only 1 of them can be regarded as a step backwards. Quentin >>> Podsednik Owens > Erstad Cabrera >>> Uribe Linebrink > Masset Garland >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Floyd The only place we've taken a step back is downgrading from Garland to Floyd, and with Garland's inconsistency, who knows how that will change things. On the other hand, we've added a vet to the bullpen, fixed the gaping hole at SS, and replaced 2 of the worst OF's in baseball with 1 incredibly talented guy and another with what is at least a non-terrible leadoff hitter type guy. We may still be a last place team, that depends on guys like Danks, Floyd, and Contreras...but we're at least better on paper than we were going in last year with Podsednik and Erstad and Uribe all starting.
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) What do you think of Gordon, especially after they acquired Lidge? Pretty similar situation to Crede. I'd rather just get a B prospect than Gordon, who's way too injury prone and washed up.
  16. How can it only take Sean Marshall to get Josh Hamilton? If that was true, the Cubs should have made that deal in a second. I really hope my favorite non-Sox player doesn't end up being hated by me.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:27 AM) Not sure if it makes sense, it probably doesn't, but if Crisp is acquired to play CF, and that is the last of the big moves this off-season, I hate the Quentin deal. I couldn't agree more with you....that team would come in last in the AL Central.
  18. Just read on another site that Rowand has a 5 year offer from a team (not the Sox).
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:36 AM) def crede. Thats about what he should fetch. Crede should fetch more than a 27 yr old utility player who hit .230 last year. If that's all we get for Crede, it's a case of KW trading someone a year late.
  20. QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Idk if I'd go that far. Felix is nasty. To my knowledge they finally allowed him to throw that Slider last season after outlawing it prior to that, and even still I think they limited what he can throw. Once he is finally turned loose and understands a bit better of how to pitch, he will be unreal. Lincecum I saw was the one supposedly available out of him and Cain. I love the kid personally and wasn't questioning his talent, or comparing it to anything we have...or anyone has for that matter. I was saying we'd need to deal a lot for a young kid with minimal experience. If we could get him no prob, but he I would assume is as much if not more then Johan. Sampling wise, I just wish we had another year to view him before we deal the farm for him. Stuff doesn't translate to wins which was what I should've said. I'd like to see a bit more of a sampling before I deal a GIo/DLS/+ more is all. I did see to something that scared me. I saw Lincecum is a target of the Reds if they can do it without dealing Bruce. The Giants may bite if the package started with Dunn, and continued with Stubbs/Votto and something else (perhaps Hamilton, Watson or Fischer? Idk I'd imagine they'd want one arm). The thought of Bailey and Lincecum + Harang is just a scary one in my book. Good, more competition against the Cubs then. It's better than having Lincecum in the AL.
  21. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 04:52 AM) Burke and Luke Scott for Crede? I'm not so sure Astros would do Scott for Crede. I wonder if they would do Burke and Scott for Crede and Sweeney?
  22. Ugh, please tell me it's not Crede for Burke. Burke was just pathetic last season. I know the Sox have talked to the Astros about Sweeney in the past. Sweeney for Burke would be a bad trade....but it's possible.
  23. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 04:33 AM) You think they would give him up for one year of a Boras client that's coming off of back surgery? Even if they hate him??? yes
  24. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 04:30 AM) I don't think that will be enough for Reyes. The Cards hate Reyes right now.
