QUOTE (rafacosta @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) This is Uribe's fault!!! Well, he is our worst hitter, and has shown nothing to suggest he's going to turn it around. However, as Ozzie said, he's sucked for a majority of his 5 seasons here, so we can't really complain.

If Jake Long let his hair grow long, he would be Triple H's twin.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) did we rip him in his big league debut last year? 2 plus innings, 7 runs.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Any day the offense wants to get their head out of their rears would be okay by me. When walker gets his check, I wonder if he wears a mask. No plan, no energy = no production The bat speed is terrible (this has been ongoing since the 18 inning win against Boston in 2006).

Burres looks great so far. Sox hitters aren't hitting the ball with any authority. It's a battle of which pitcher loses their command first.

It would be nice if Sox could find a way to get Fields into their lefty lineup.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) I think he will hit for a decent average so I'm not worried about that. But I hope the move to leadoff didn't mess with his approach as I would really like to see him hit for some power. I'm not saying "lift & pull" but he had a lot of doubles last season so he's probably been hitting some line drives. Plus I hope the guy's not shrinking. He's from Oakland....those guys don't have a good history of holding up once they're away from there.

I just realized something....if you are a Sox fan in your 70s or 80s, Hawk would be the perfect announcer for you. Every story deals with players from 30 years ago. If you want to talk about players who would have put up bigger numbers if they were at different ball parks, why not talk about Barry Bonds or Jeff Kent, etc?

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) Nick Swisher needs to start hitting, and hitting for some power. It's like Luis Castillo minus the speed. His timing is so off. We faced so many wild pitchers during the first few weeks, and he became too patient.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) im certain there was a lineup last year that had uribe andy gonzalez and either hall or molina....and what was worse was that erstad and maybe pods were in that lineup At this point in time, Gonzalez is better than Ramirez. Also, in terms of batting average, Erstad/Pods >>>> Swisher.

0-3 for the worst collection of 7/8/9 Sox hitters in organization history.

Haha, Uribe couldn't have tried harder to pull that pitch. I really can't believe we didn't let him go when the Dodgers claimed him.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) At least Danks is looking solid once again. Now let's give him some runs so he doesn't have to be perfect.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) with the exception of thomes mini hot streak earlier this week, its been like that for about 2 weeks But at least that lineup would get the occasional 2 hit game from AJ or Dye. I would have rather seen Ozuna play 2nd base and bat at the bottom of the order this first game in order to give us a little more "hitting" ability.

With this lineup we have today, Sox best chance at doing damage is for Quentin and Crede to have a big game.

Buehrle to Start Nightcap
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) why wouldn't contreras start on Sunday? Maybe push Vazquez back to face the Twins instead of having it be Masset. When you have a game postponed like last night, it makes it so someone would have to go on 3 days rest.

I think Masset is starting tomorrow now.

Hawk saying that he likes to see a hitter taking all the way on 3-1 is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
