  1. If the Cubs go on to win this game, we'll never hear the end of Wood's performance there. You had to know that between the Cubs luck in terms of terrible fielding against them, and the Marlins awful defense....it would play a huge role in a game this week.
  2. Did the Marlins botch a double play ball? That would be so shocking that the Cubs had a rally around an error.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) Well Keith, good points but personally, I'd love to sign Bonds to dh and trade Thome for some young talent and a lot of it. Thome could be a great trade chip if we had someone who could actually take his place. Then we don't have to worry about the bad defense. Thome should be able to at least bring back two pretty good young players and while you made your team a bit older potentially for one season, you might have just added some future players to the mix. That's just a perfect scenario, imo. It won't happen, even though it makes so much sense. I couldn't believe more that Thome should be dealt this offseason.
  4. FWIW, I was close to giving Thome an A....but I was also close to giving AJP a D.
  5. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) Not giving Thome an A....you're joking, right? Dude missed thirty games and still hit 33 homers and almost 100 rbis with an average just 7 points below his career average at almost age 40 what the hell would have been an A for you people? When this team was really struggling, Thome wasn't playing well. Also, his sub .200 batting average against LHP really hurts us, as we needed more production from the DH spot against the great lefties in the AL. As you can tell by how I gave guys like Konerko and Owens the same grade, it didn't just have to do with production, but playing up to their capabilities as well.
  6. Of course adding Santana would make us better. However, it's not realistic in terms of payroll, as well as the fact the Twins would never trade him within the division.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Hes the best pitcher in baseball. Hands down. Look at his stats in an off year all you want. He would immediately make this team a fav in this division. But we could never afford him. Thus, I'm excited that he's not going to be in the AL Central anymore. We're going to have to use a lot of money to rebuild this offense. Starting pitching is actually something that we have some possible minor leaguers that project to help us out.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I'd trade half our damn farm system for Johan, and then ink him to an extension. That would be best case scenario for me at least. I wouldn't....his homer rate is rather alarming this year. His fastball is down a mile or two this season, and he's logged a ton of innings over the last 5 seasons. Considering he'll get the biggest contract for a starting pitcher ever, I'd rather just watch some team overpay for him.

  10. Pretty awesome moment with Bonds almost homering in his last AB with the Giants. He gave Peavy a big hug after the play, as Peavy sure seemed to be giving him every chance to go out with a homer.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:56 AM) Who called for GJ? Many people have suggested we should sign him to play LF next year. He's one of those guys that shockingly lost a lot of his power. You know who has very funny stats to look at, in terms of power decline..........Brian Giles.
  12. It's really great that the Brewers veterans have stepped up to take the pressure off of the young guys. If I see one more thread saying we should add Bill Hall or Geoff Jenkins, I might snap.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:39 AM) I thought the same think, Squirt. Of course many vocal people on this board wish we would have lost all the games to the Cubs, then we'd have gotten a higher draft pick. Admit it, several of you wish we'd gotten swept by the Cubs, right? Just stop....go cherish tonight's win.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:36 AM) He was ejected earlier in the inning. Maddux left Turnbow in. Still his decision to pull Linebrink and hit Pujols.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:35 AM) Looked pretty good striking out the side in the 7th. Here's the thing that pisses me off....they probably would have kept him in, but they wanted McClung to hit Pujols. Their fans are about to riot though...good for them.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) And the Brewers lose an absolute must win. The Cubs are choking in Cubs fashion, but the Brewers just suck too much dick. I hope all the Cubs dickheads never say another word though about players sitting out against them. I still don't understand why Pujols is playing this week.
  17. f***ing Brewers....now losing 6-2. Yost honestly is the worst manager in the history of baseball.
  18. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:30 AM) what the hell is yost doing? like honestly how is he managing He got ejected for throwing at Pujols. Nothing like putting on a runner in a one run game.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) Can I type a bunch of names that I would like to call Derrick Turnbow now? Wouldn't be anywhere near what I want to say about their coaching staff.
  20. I wonder how much the Brewers have been outscored in the 8th and 9th inning over the last 3 months. I can't believe they're leaving Turnbow in to walk the world. He's one of the easiest pitcher in baseball to see throw a few pitches and realize if he has it or not that night. Holy s***, take him out of the game. It's great hearing their fans boo....why not pull him after the first pitch wasn't even close?
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) I have faith the Brewers will pull this out. Need to find a way to get it back to the 3-4-5, but they just batted.
  22. Brewers should have put the game away early, as they had bases loaded twice in the first 2 innings. Seems like the Brewers have warning track power tonight.
  23. Dunn's out for the Reds the rest of the year. Their lineup went from having Hamilton, Griffey Jr, and Dunn to having Norris, Votto, and Ellison.
  24. Ugh, Padres with a huge 2 out rally to take the lead against the Giants. Definitely not a good thing, as I'd much rather see the Rockies or Phils make the playoffs. With Peavy going tomorrow, the Padres are in a great position to have at least a 1 game lead, and possible 2 games in the WC. Can't anything go right during this last week?
  25. Wow, he just tagged up on a shallow fly ball to Pods.
