QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) He still wouldn't have been a bad option off the bench as a 4th or 5th OF. Better one than Ersty. I agree....but the writing was on the wall when he hardly got any playing time over the last month of the season. I hope our entire bench is sent packing, but it won't happen.

How about when Michael Bourn almost broke both of his ankles on the stupid bullpen mound down the RF line? There's only one good thing about Wrigley....and that's Steve Bartman.
-
Don't forget the Sox lost a game because of that precious Ivy on the walls.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Cutting ties with Terrero has nothing to do with retaining Erstad or not. They felt Terrero might blossom, possibly into a full time or semi-full time player at one of the OF positions. They found out he is what he is though. He did not progress at the plate, he still has the same problems he's always had which have kept him from consistent major league playing time. Things like poor plate discipline, shortening his swing, striking out too much. Zero baseball IQ

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Most players would disagree with Griffey, from what I've seen...and besides, you've got your bias from the time the older Cub fan kids at school beat you up and took your Ron Karkovice baseball cards. Ha....I was hating the Cubs before you were even born. Every baseball player to ever play at Wrigley will tell you that the field conditions are probably the second worst in all of baseball behind Fenway Park. I've been to plenty of Cubs games in my life, and I can't stand going there. From the traffic to the lack of parking to the urinals....it's not a very enjoyable experience. If you have this much of a problem with people criticizing the Cubs and things associated with them, you might want to avoid the DBacks/Cubs thread this week.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) We've been through this "Wrigley sucks" nonsense before. I think you guys who hate Wrigley Field have got penis envy. "Oh, my Cubs neighbor will make fun of me." "Oh, the media will care more about the Cubs than the Sox." "Oh, our ballpark is newer -- and it's made of advertisings, not steel, so it's unique!" Nope...the grass sucks (ask Ken Griffey Jr. what he thinks of it), it's embarassing to have a brick wall that could easily injure an outfielder, the park is a joke when the wind is blowing out, and there are a lot of bad seats throughout. As the shirt says "Wrigley Field: World's Largest Gay Bar".

So who has played their last game in a Sox uni?

Scott Schoeneweis received steroids while on the White Sox
fathom replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The one guy associated with the Sox who I would be shocked if they took HGH/steroids is Paul Konerko. If you've ever seen him in normal street clothes, you would never guess he was a baseball player. And why do people try to be so secretive about saying who the person is that they don't want it to be. We all know it's Miguel Olivo, so just come out and say it. -
I just want to say that I will root like hell for whoever wins the Phils/Rockies series.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 04:14 AM) Great play by MB. That ump really f***ed the Padres...
-
Wow, he wasn't even close to touching home.
-
This is the baseball version of Boise St./Oklahoma. It's just so much fun to watch.
-
Just a stupid, stupid choice to bring in Julio. I'm surprised Morales hasn't made an appearance.

Real classy to be taking steroids after being a cancer survivor. -
This is about the most fun I've had watching a game in a long time. Heath Bell was amazing out there.

If that ball hit a wheelchair, wouldn't the wheelchair have moved? I don't think it was gone based on the reaction by the fans in the area.
-
Why in the hell is Peavy still in this game? Bud Black really screwed the Padres with his managing the past two days.
-
I like Peavy, but he didn't show up tonight and perform like the Padres needed. A Rockies/Phils series will be sensational.
-
It's a lot of fun watching a meaningful game at Coors. It's one of the places I probably see the least amount of games on tv.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) Why with a different team? He's with the Rockies -- the past two years he's pitched ~380 innings of 115 ERA+. He's a fine pitcher, very underrated in fact. I think he could be a #1 outside of Coors. Like you said, he's very underrated.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:46 AM) He's still a very good hitter. Lots of doubles. Even with his back problems. Do you not like Bonds because he's a prick, or because of his suspected steroid use?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) Thats a real shame, as the Rockies have one of the best lineups in the game. 2-7, they match up with anyone. Francis, Jimenez, and Morales looks to be a great trio to build on for them. Aaron Cook is also someone who would be very good with a different team.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:38 AM) Todd Helton is good. I don't care what people say about his Colorado stats. I have some massive doubts about his drastic power decline.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Would you have Richar on the MLB roster next year or playing in AAA once again? AAA, but that's only if you're trying to win the division.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 01:37 AM) How you feelin' about the D-Backs/Cubs series? You gotta be reasonably happy that Webb will be able to pitch twice, although talking bigger picture, it sucks that there's no powerhouse in the NL. If you put any of the four AL teams in the NL, they'd pretty much be WS locks, too. Basically, we need Webb to pitch his ass off. If the Cubs win the first game, I don't see much of a chance for the DBacks to win the series. I honestly don't know what to expect with the Cubs. I think they're far and away the best team in the NL, but their record doesn't indicate that. I'm going to enjoy the next two days though, and hopefully not punch any Cubs fans in the mouth. We better hope the wind is blowing in for game 3, as Livan might give up 10 homers if the wind is blowing out at Wrigley. I would love to see the Phillies make the WS....but as I told my dad tonight, I'd root for my mother-in-law to beat the Cubs right now.
