  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) You may joke, but I actually agree with that. I think the whole three stooges thing was a positive force that way. I was actually serious.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) I think one thing that the great majority of Sox fans I know agreed on before the season - was that Pods and Erstad starting in the OF was not acceptable. That was terrible. So that one, I think its not BS - I think most people here saw that disaster coming. And certainly we all saw that SOME of the older core of hitters would decline with age. But I don't think most people saw such a huge decline from every single one of them. I've been a broken record for a long time now about how we suck so much against LHP, and have down little to help our chances. Signing Hall was good....but we all know that was a bust. I want to see a Richar/Ozuna platoon at 2b next year, and get a LF and CF that can face both lefties and righties.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) Is there any way in hell that with a full season of work that he doesnt hit 30 hrs? The thing I love about him is that he's doing this all on talent right now. He still is fouling off so many great pitches to hit, and his swing is long. He's impressed me the most about how he's hitting homers off of some of the best righties in the AL, like F. Hernandez, Putz, and now Beckett.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) Eh, I think he's always been an attitude issue to an extent. But it seemed to me he put it away a bit in 2005, at least on the field. even in 2006, to an extent. But it seems much more obvious this year in his play on the field - he just looks like he has decided to not try as hard. I think Rowand was a good influence on AJ.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) Pretty much a worthless discussion with all the geniuses on here who foresaw our massive offensive slump and the unraveling of the pen. I wish you guys would have told me about this before the season so I did renew my season tickets. I could have then not watched the team in the first few months and agonizing over the losses. I hope you guys can tell me about our record next year, because the suspense is killing me. Not to brag, but I thought this offense was going to struggle this year. The reason for that was I lost so much confidence in them during the 2nd half of last season, and it just seemed that when you combine that with another year on those legs, the bat speed wasn't where it had to be. Juan Uribe absolutely must go though.
  6. Both catchers have been horrific in their game-calling this year. Toby Hall has been useless.
  7. Josh Fields is impressing the hell out of me right now.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Are you f***ing kidding me...??? White Sox fans had 14 hours notice that this game was going to be played. Half of the Red Sox fans are here for the weekend and don't have to work. The other half are Cub fans who don't work anyway. It's not like the place is filled with 20K RS fans. There's maybe 12K TOTAL fans there right now. That's a good point.....I was just going off of what Farmer was ranting about. I have never heard him so disappointed about a crowd as he was today. The funny thing is that listening to the radio, you would think it was a game being broadcasted from Fenway. What's the status of tonight's game looking like, in terms of weather?
  9. KW should be ashamed of himself for not trying hard to trade Garland and Thome at the deadline this year. I also don't know what's more embarassing.....how many Red Sox fans there are today compared to White Sox fans, or the fact that Andy Gonzalez is the only substitute we have for Jim Thome today.
  10. Supposed to go to the night game tonight, but with rain in the forecast, I hope it just starts pouring now so that I don't have to take the journey to the Cell, only to have to turn around when it's called.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) I caught a bit of Keith Law on ESPN Radio. He was talking about Jim Thome and Carlos Delgado, and Law commented that because his bat speed has fallen off so significantly, Thome is pretty much an unmoveable entity. He basically made it sound like Thome has no trade value because scouts wouldn't advocate trading for a guy who appears to be falling off a cliff (bat speed-wise). One of the reasons KW should have been trying his best to deal him at the trade deadline to the Angels (and yes, I know he has a NTC).
  12. Hendry trying to set the record for most transactions in one season.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 04:59 AM) You really need to chillax about the Cubs. The Cardinals are still on the charge, and even if the Cubs make the playoffs, the NL at least has a few good teams. I know your worried because of what the Cardinals did in 2005, but that's a once in a lifetime thing. Plus, the Cubs starting pitching really isn't 1/100th as good as people think and will be exposed in October if they get there. Relax, enjoy life. People were telling me to not worry when they were 8.5 games out, and I said I still thought they'd make the playoffs. Now, they're winning games in every possible manner. The question I have is, what team does have good pitching in the NL? I'll feel much happier when the Cubs season is over, as long as it's not winning their last game in the playoffs.
  14. As an alumni, I'm embarassed that Smith is still with the program. I always thought it was pathetic that Iowa redshirted Pierce during his issue, and now Illinois is doing the same thing.
  15. What a shocker....a couple of horrific defensive plays give the Cubs the lead. This season is just so predictable at this point (I have no clue why I didn't bet today that the Cubs would win and Brewers would lose).
  16. Rajah Davis with the worst swings I've seen all year. I'm shocked that former steroid losers like Klesko and Aurilia couldn't get the job done.
  17. It's amazing to see how many bad at-bats the Giants hitters can have. They haven't hit more than 5 balls hard in the 2 games against the Cubs so far.
  18. Brewers hit a lot of liners and deep fly balls late in the game, but couldn't pull it out. It looked like Estrada had a go-ahead homer in the 9th, but the ball died a few feet short of the track. Words can't describe how bad the ump has been in the Cubs game. Since when has Rich Hill deserved the Glavine treatment, and Zito gets no help at all.
  19. It's the first game of a doubleheader also.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I would punch Contreras in his weak-minded stubborn ass face Can I also punch Don Cooper for ever telling him to start experimenting with different arm angles?
  21. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) didn't fields hit a HR in a game not too long ago that brought us within 1 and we still lost? The Putz game. Fields homer/RBI totals are damn impressive this season.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) If you could punch one player on the current sox roster, who would it be? Garland (since Hawk's not a current player)
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) Not Floyd's fault Toby Hall can't throw. It doesn't help that Floyd is slow to the plate, but I don't think Hall could throw out Konerko at this point. Hall's been a total bust. I have my doubts he'll ever be close to the player he was before we signed him. Everything about him looks bad, from his game calling to his swing to his throwing. But, on the bright side, at least he has experience at first base now.
  24. Anxiously awaiting Pratt's post in 3....2....1.....
