  1. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 12:46 AM) What is very strange about that is that his fastball was hitting 91-94 for the first two batters and then magically dropped into the high 80s. Very troubling. I heard when we acquired him that he sucks out of the stretch, which in part is caused by his funky motion.
  2. Hey Hawk...at what point is the team being lazy holding on runners become a coaching issue?
  3. Floyd's stuff is rather average. The control on his curve is pathetic.
  4. It's too bad....her recent bikini pictures were sensational.
  5. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) I don't care. The whole organization blows at developing players. Fathom, I've gotta ask you this. Could you have imagined a month ago us sitting here one week from the deadline and looking at the realistic possibility that the Sox make zero deals? There's still a lot of time for trades to be made. The ironic thing is that Iguchi is the one guy we need to trade the most, as we won't get any compensation if he leaves after this year. With the way this baseball year has been going, I'm a little scared to see what we'll actually get back in a trade. I could see the Sox trading Garland/Thornton for Cabrera and Ian Kennedy.
  6. What's the chances they make all base coaches wear helmets now? Joey Cora should have been wearing a helmet last year, but that was for a different reason.
  7. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines This was the most predictable feud ever.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 04:34 AM) Would you do Thornton for Geoff Jenkins, just asking? Jenkins is a FA after this year. That would be just about the worst trade we could possibly make.
  9. Good grief Ozzie....just quit if you're not going to even bother managing.
  10. Ok Ozzie....25 hits is enough. Get him out of there you idiot.
  11. I really hate Ozzie leaving our starters out even longer than usual now.
  12. I just got home, but has Buehrle been throwing 84 mph fastballs all night?
  13. Thome really, really needs to step it up against lefty pitching.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 01:59 AM) I don't think anybody is particularly happy with the season Dye has had so far, but at least he picked the right span of time to start hitting. Dye hitting like this is a definite upgrade for a bunch of teams out there, so hopefully we can get something better than the two draft picks we'd get at season's end. For some reason, I think Dye will end up back with the Sox next year.
  15. Masset did terrible in his start tonight. I wonder if he'll ever make it back to the big leagues. Pods continues to disgrace himself, as he was picked off tonight.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) So you're saying pretty much that it didn't matter what the hell Ozzie did, the game was over anyways. If that's the case, why doesn't Ozzie just have the White Sox players come off the field when they get down by three or more runs at any time the rest of the season? Hell, Ozzie can just have a little fun -- let's put Contreras in CF, Jenks at SS and Buehrle behind homeplate. Just so we have this clear, everybody -- from now on, Ozzie gets a pass on ANY decision made when the Sox are down by more than one run. Apparently I was wrong in thinking that the manager's job was to put make decisions that gives his team the best possible shot at winning. You know what I find very funny? The fact that it's clockwork that people like you come into threads like this and never, EVER defend Ozzie's decisions. In fact -- it's very ironic that you're the one saying that other people are stirring the pot. What do you do? You come into these threads and throw s*** at other people. Have you ever actually tried to put up an argument relevant to Ozzie's decision-making? No -- you come in here and just point the finger at the people who are calling out Ozzie on the (stupid) moves he makes. And when it comes to these threads taling about individual moves in individual games, what do you do? Bring up irrelevant bulls***. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. EDIT: The only person who actually came in and put up a decent defense for the Ozzie shift was TLAK. And I've seen absolutely nothing for leaving in Contreras for the 8th. Awesome post! I can't wait for people to point out that the reason we couldn't trade Contreras was due to his horrible ERA. His ERA would be .6 pts lower if Ozzie didn't give up during the Boston game and the KC game from before the break.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) In all seriousness, if you could choose one guy on this team to get a clutch hit for you right now, who would it be? Right now I'd say Konerko, but Thome would definitely be number two for me. Ever since the LA walkoff game in 2005, all AJ does in close-and-late spots is swing for the fences -- he seemingly only comes through when we play the Cubs -- and while Jermaine is coming around, I don't think I'd put him above Thome. I'd list Konerko, then Dye, then Iguchi, and then Thome. Dye seems to get those liners up the middle quite often in late, clutch situations. I thought it was interesting how few homers Thome hits from the 6th inning on this year. I'd want Thome leading off an inning in which we needed a run, as he's the most likely to draw a walk.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) Come on, Fathom, you know me better than to lie about statistics. But if you must... Scroll down a bit and you'll see 'em. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bspli...1&year=2007 No no, I trust you. I just wanted to look at the stats.
  19. Oh well....btw, put those percentages at 99 pct for Floyd on Tuesday.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) FWIW, in the ninth inning this year Thome is hitting .313/.571/.438. I luuuuuuuuuv selective memory. I'd love to see where you can get this so I can look up the game logs, and see why I can't remember his numbers being at that level.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) Yes, barely hitting .300 in close and late situations this year. We've discussed this a million times....we're talking about 9th inning production, or if the game goes into extras. I know his stats were awful last year in those situations, and I don't remember a single hit he had in the 9th this season when tied or down a few.
  22. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) or later? Extras
  23. Good grief, he's so worthless in those situations.
  24. Will Thome ever do anything to help this team in the 9th inning or later?
