QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) According to KW, they are going to sign him, thats the most recent report. I think they announce Mark is signed tomorrow. Is that the article on chicagosports right now?

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:38 AM) I did read the 1st post Where did you see this? QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:40 AM) That is my biggest fear that we trade Buehrle and in return get some players the other team just wants to get rid of. All I know is that if KW feels like he tried his best to sign Buehrle, and failed....he better not reject any trade where a 72 hour window is included. There's no point in not giving the team that option, and likely a better package, if you know he's not coming back here.
-
Holy cow, Buckvich is throwing some miserable pitches to the plate. Hell, I'd rather see MacDougal, at least he can be tough to hit sometimes.
-
I just pray that there's nothing to that terrible Cards rumor. I'm sure though that if the Cards think they can get him for 5/70 now, they'll try and trade again.
-
Well, I think it's quite obvious he's gone in the next 48-72 hours. Thanks for everything Mark.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) What does that have to do with anything? And who's fault is it that the team wont make the playoffs while he's here? I'm just saying that one player shouldn't decide the future of this organization on the field and off the field. If we had offensive personnel like the Indians, where you have some young guys who will be around for a few more years, then re-signing Buehrle would be a crucial decision. However, there's way too many holes to worry about Buehrle staying or leaving. Who's to say we won't be a better team with that 14 million spent elsewhere?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:16 AM) Why do you say that? Reyes is exactly the opposite of the type of pitcher Kenny has targeted the past six months. Partly because of how well he pitched against us, and partly because how everyone loves him on here. I've always said that Reyes and Aybar are the two most overrated players on this site.

QUOTE(max power @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) You are pessimistic. Who knows what will happen this offseason and next. We're way behind the Tigers and Indians in terms of talent right now, and if Liriano comes back even close to what he was, we're in a ton of trouble. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:16 AM) Fathom... Trade winds

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:06 AM) Even though said player was going to sign for under his market value and only wanted career security for himself and his family? KW seems concerned that if they give the NTC to Buehrle, then other players will want it when either trying to re-sign them or in the free agent market. I understand where he's coming from. I don't care what happens though, it would still be a travesty if people stop supporting this team just because one player isn't brought back. We were on cloud nine when PK re-signed, and from the looks of it, he's not going to lead us to the playoffs during his new contract.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) If that's the deal we get in return, I quit life. The scary thing is that I'm sure KW and company overrate Reyes so much.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:01 AM) Nice, we got 3 hrs. wow. If we trade Mark, I wish I could say I would boycott the Sox forever. I hope a lot of fans do, but I probably can't stay away. No offense, but anyone who wants fans to boycott is an idiot. Nothing like our payroll being cut in half because people don't understand how the market works. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:02 AM) Terrero has a very HBP heavy OBP. It's ludicrous, but I'm actually excited about Andy Gonzalez. He may not be able to hit much, but he walks. I really think he can take Cintron's place as a utility guy next season and allow a few million to be used somewhere else. If he can just play semi-passable at SS and 2B. I'd like to see him play there more this season. I'm scared though that they might think he can start at 2b or SS next year.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 01:50 AM) 6-2 3 2-run HRs...Thome, Uribe, Fields Where did you get that rumor of the Buehrle trade? Please, let it not be true.
-
I'd have to think this isn't true. I just looked up Garcia's numbers, and he's nothing special.
-
That was a nice catch by Gonzalez.
-
If Ozzie knows this is Buehrle's last start with the team, I'd love to see him pull him during the middle of an inning or at the start of an inning so that he can get one last standing ovation.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) I didn't see it. I think Harris would be okay as long as he was willing to sit against LHP. I would like to see a 3 headed monster, well, mini-beast, at SS and second next year. Iguchi just might ask for a NTC. Ugh, I want nothing to do with Iguchi. He's too much of a liability against LHP, and you know Ozzie would never sit him against lefties. His defense is also such a liability. Like you said, if you can find someone like Theriot, who can play both 2nd and SS and help out against LHP, then you can have a cheap middle infield that brings needed athleticism.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) I forgot the most important stat concerning Thome and Bedard tonight; for both of my suck teams I benched Thome and played Bedard. Sox should win tonight. Hopefully 2-0 Thankfully I'm going down in flames with you on this one. You still haven't answered my question about your thoughts on Willie Harris being our starting 2nd baseman next year.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Heh, Fathom don't know s***. Ha, I could just shake my head at that. One more closer to 500 though.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) You got to be kidding me. Sweeney should be playing every day. God what a terrible decision. Sweeney has a future...Owens does not. I laugh at those that don't think Ozzie needs his "speed" guy at the top of the order.
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:16 AM) Honestly at this point let Toby Hall get his labrum reattached and see you in Tucson. Absolutely
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:13 AM) Sure there is -- dude can't even put up an .800 OPS in a tiny ballpark. I'd guess it would be more of the same as his first call-up -- pitcher's would pound him hard in-in-in. If MLB ever goes to aluminum bats, Sweeney would be fantastic!
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) AJ can't throw either. If Hall plays, Buerhle is a good one for him to catch because of his move. I think Toby would be in the line-up if he had a hit the last month or so. Of course it is hard to hit getting 2 ABs a week. I haven't seen Hall get a hit this year when I've been watching.
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) Because he can draw walks. No one else on the team appears capable of doing it. It's Bedard, they aren't likely to get many baserunners. Someone needs to tell Thome that we need him to be more aggressive. Walks or great and all when you have a talented lineup, but when it's you, Konerko, and minor leaguers, you need to step it up.

We'll be lucky if the Cubs lose more than one game this week. It was amazing at work today....you would have thought they clinched the NL pennant or something.
