  1. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) looking Forward to Javy giving up 2-3 runs tonight and getting blamed for the loss He won't get blamed, but it would be nice to see him shut out the other team once instead of doing just enough to lose.
  2. Gotta love how we let Howard beat us with 2 outs and no one on. He's on absolute fire right now, and you're better off treating him like Bonds during his prime, because his power is that good.
  3. It's sad that 1 hit through 4 innings against a pitcher with a 6 ERA isn't upsetting anymore. Not being able to use Thome and Konerko in the same lineup makes a terrible lineup even worse. But hey, at least Greg Walker deserves none of the blame. As Farmer says "when this team starts hitting, they won't stop".
  4. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) I know this isn't the place but did you watch the Cub game last night? What's the deal with this Fontenot character? I liked what I saw. Fontenot is a nice, scrappy little hitter. He's the exact type of middle infielder we've lacked in our system that can come up and hit a little if needed. I'm pretty sure he's the last remaining piece of the Sosa deal. And yes I watched the game, and my love for Willie Harris grows more and more.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) I swear, if Jesus came back you'd say "ahh damn all that crazy stuff in Revelations is gonna kills us all now". Since when have you been in a position to criticize other people saying negative stuff? I even admitted later on that I hadn't seen the article....I just wanted to make sure that Ichiro wasn't referring to the cold....you know, since people have already started to pencil him into the lineup. EDIT: We know very little about what Ichiro is looking for in terms of his next team. We do know that he's looking for a team that can compete for the World Series next year. Between our likely .500 or so record this year, and him complaining about the cold, I didn't think it was a good sign for us. That's all....not much more to it. I don't think we'll get him next year, as he's going to get a ton of money and we'd be better off trying to get someone younger and save some of the money to upgrade in other positions like SS.
  6. Anyone get the feeling that it doesn't matter if a pitcher has a 2 ERA coming into the game vs the Sox or a 22 ERA? This team just makes getting runners and scoring runs seem very difficult. If the Sox can't start playing better and actually winning more games than they lose after the next two weeks, then the fire sale needs to begin.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Yeah I thought Utley crushed his and Terrero caught it 2 steps shy of the track in front of the 401 sign, Fields one looked like a fly ball and was caught a step from the wall at the 401 sign. Fields has so much more potential than a lot of our recent prospects. Joe Borchard's problem was that he couldn't touch an offspeed pitch. Right now, Fields is struggling more with the fastball, which shouldn't be an issue as he gets comfortable. I've seen so many prospects the last couple of years around baseball look completely lost at first, and then all of a sudden, they make the game look so much easier. On the pitching side, Rich Hill is the perfect example of this. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Rolling curveball. That is a flashback to the kinda pitches he was throwing in the 6th inning last year. Did anyone actually think Javy wouldn't struggle with the longball at this park? Javy's curveball just isn't very good, especially since he's lost his velocity. I remember when he was coming up with Montreal, he would throw a 95 mph fastball followed by a wicked slider.
  8. Has Hawk started proclaiming Eaton as Cy yet?
  9. With all the other crap going on, Uribe continues to have his worst season ever with the Sox. I really think we need to go in a new direction at the SS position next season.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Pods has returned. Say what?
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) man, Dye can't even hit it hard. Trade him now KW! If the names that the west coast paper were mentioning are legit players we could get for him, we need to pull the trigger now.
  12. Just get rid of Dye while he has any value. He's killing this team right now, and the more his BA slips towards .200, the less value he has.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) Yeah I definitely think you're reading that wrong, greasy's right -- I'd think he's just talking about the crappiness that is Cleveland, not the cold. Yeah, I hadn't read the article. I remember seeing a fascinating quote by Ichiro about how he wants to become a pitcher when he turns 40.
  14. That's a very impressive lineup for the Phillies.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) Ichiro: "To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying." If he's talking about the cold weather there, then we can probably forget about going after him this offseason.
  16. We'll see Javy, the nibbler tonight with their powerful, patient offense.
  17. Funny tidbit....KW said he's never seen him pitch live.
  18. Willie Harris looks like a completely different player out there. So much more concentration and focus.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) We've come to expect negativity out of you, but it seems when you actually are positive, you're wrong. Like I said, if the pitchers are up there throwing ball after ball, the umpire is not going to help them out. Period. You said "Not too worried about the top of the 9th." Well, we threw out our (arguably) 3 best relievers right now and still gave up 2 runs. Dewon Day isn't one of our best relievers. We're Jenks, Logan against lefties, and then junk. Just because Day had a few solid innings in mop-up duty, that doesn't mean he should be in the majors. Logan threw a pitch right down the middle to Lamb that was called a ball, so I'm not going to be too concerned about that. And thanks for telling me that when I'm positive, I'm wrong. Are we really going to start criticizing everything that people say that's wrong? If so, we might as well shut down this site. Today was the most positive game I've seen from this team in a long time, as they actually seemed relax on the field.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) You've been really inconsistent lately fathom. The umpire isn't going to help out any pitcher who isn't throwing strikes. Really only 2 were questionable. Hell, Houston could say the same about Jenks strike 3 call on Scott. What did I say that was inconsistent? There were about 3 pitches that Logan and Day threw that were strikes. I didn't think Hall was catching the ball very cleanly to hep the pitchers either. It's amazing that I get criticized when I make a post that is positive, and not negative.
  21. I'd do Dye for Billingsley straight up. We could use a righty power arm as a possible starter, or if not, a nasty set-up man. Dye's clearly deteriorating, and there's no way we're going to bring him back. Let's not get picky with these trade ideas....do I have to bring up the ludicrous trade proposals that were brought up on here for Garcia? QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) Why would Dye for Billingsley straight up be bad? Billingsley has a good future ahead of him. He should be starting now. Dye has been garbage all year long and is a free agent. I'd love to get more for him than just Billingsley but if the Dodgers said, "Give us Dye, we'll give you Billingsley" I'd do it, if nothing else were available. Don't worry, some people just have insane ideas of what the value is for a player with a few months left on their contract.
  22. Congrats to Buehrle. Not too worried about the top of the 9th, as the umpire sucked. Jenks seemed to have much better stuff today.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) LOL, JD finally hits one hard and its caught for a line out. Get rid of him already. Anyone have a season this bad following an MVP caliber year? Jeez, who check swings on 3-1 for a little groundout to the pitcher. Dye's been really bad on 3-1 pitches this year, as he's been way too pull-happy and impatient. I love the idea of trying to trade him for someone like Billingsley.
  24. Flashbacks of Crede's homer against Rodriguez in the WS after seeing Uribe's homer. And I'm officially on the Terrero as starting outfielder for rest of season bandwagon.
  25. Nice catch by Konerko. Let's get some guys on for Terrero.
