  1. I'm shocked we've beat this Yankees team 3 times this year.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:47 AM) Erstad? Erstad doesn't hit the ball hard though. Dan Bernstein said that about Mackowiak a few weeks ago, and it's so true. I love Mackowiak....but he just pounds the ball into the ground a lot.
  3. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:45 AM) Speaking of Marte, he would be our best pitcher in the bullpen this year...yikes 1.45 ERA 18.2 innings 8 walks 19 K's 14 hits 1.18 WHIP Not that he would have those numbers with us, but his numbers surprised me when I looked at them the other day. So would David Riske....it's just one of those years.
  4. No one can hit that hard grounder like Mackowiak.
  5. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) He has a decent track record for getting something for nothing. Dye isn't nothing though. This is much different than trading someone like Guerrier for Marte or Miles for Uribe.
  6. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:38 AM) Three are other AL Central Teams are consumed in plane crashes. Yeah, but their minor league teams might give us a run for our money. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:39 AM) The only chip we have is Buerhle. Thats it. Dye???? Trading an aged, bad defensive power hitter who isnt hitting doesnt reap the large bevy of prospects. A good GM could get value for Dye still. However, if we wait another month and he's hitting .225 with 15 homers, we're not going to get anything good in return. It's painfully obvious he's lost a step. He's also my PTGODLN (Pick to go on DL next).
  7. I wish it was more fun to watch this team. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:32 AM) We are teetering on some historic futility with our offense. 4 games in the win column on the mighty royals. I honestly can't fathom how this team has any chance at the playoffs. At least Fields gives me something to look forward to every 3rd inning.
  8. Two things: - Gary Sheffield is awesome right now. Too bad we didn't go after him for LF. - Ozzie's complaining about Latino players being targeted in the steroid investigation. I never knew Bonds and Giambi were latinos.
  9. Dye's really a liability right now. We have to have one of the worst right side defensive teams, in terms of range, in baseball history.
  10. Jerry Owens is not a major league caliber hitter.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:04 AM) The bleeding on the season continues. Dont worry, flip their baseball cards. They are due to breakout any day now, or last month or so. Yep, I'm reading Javy's baseball card, and it tells me he's a losing pitcher in the majors.
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:00 AM) I hate fearing that the game is over if Rodriguez gets a hit. That's how low my confidence has gotten in this team's ability to come back in a game. If there's one pitcher that could no-hit us, it's Wang and his sinker.
  13. I wonder how many fire sale threads will be started tonight?
  14. We're just such a bad team. This isn't what I wanted to see after Chris Young's shot last night.
  15. Someone might want to tell AJ to stop throwing Cairo 2 strike outside offspeed pitches. That's about the only pitch he can do damage on.
  16. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) LHH are batting 197 vs vazquez, but after damons double, maybe 200? so i wouldnt call that an advantage 2004 season, game 7 of the ALCS And good grief, Iguchi is a bad defensive player
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:14 AM) Lets not get too picky... we all know we'd hit it if we got the chance. She looked like Courtney Cox's drugged-up sister last night.
  18. Wow, that's the most I've ever seen Javy lean back and fire it since he's been here. Quite impressive.
  19. Vazquez vs Damon....about time Yanks got some advantage from that match-up.
  20. I made an optimistic prediction last night, and it didn't come true. Thus, my pessimistic prediction is that we hit into four double plays tonight.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) I hope he continues on the tear he was on down in Charlotte. It would be nice to see a prospect come up and hit the ball with authority. You mean you don't like to see the battle between Owens and Sweeney to see which player can hit the softest grounders?
  22. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) pain has a tendency to do that to you. anyway, we are running out of prospects to parade around. The very best hting that could happen is fields does well, and when crede gets better we trade him, anything short of that would be dissapointing for all involved. Yep, you could see last year how upright and mechancial Crede's swing got as his back got worse. It's painful for not only him, but for us to watch him hit now. The Sox really should have traded him the second he refused to get the surgery.
  23. I'll be disapointed if Fields doesn't turn into a better overall hitter than Crede within 4 years. For as clutch as Crede was at the end of the season in 2005 and the beginning of 2006, he sure did seem to fail a lot in clutch situations the last 100 games or so of his Sox career.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) Amanda Beard on Letterman tonight. Let's see how she looks in glorious HD! I thought she looked awful!
  25. The Sox are last in doubles in the majors by an astonishing margin of 19.
