  1. Oh, and Flash, one more thing: the Sox were taking a hard thrower with their first pick, no matter what.
  2. We always hear the excuse about how the Sox never have a high pick because of their good record over the last decade. Thus, that's why we never have the massive talents in our system. Now, we have the best high school pitcher in the draft fall into our laps if we want, and we don't take him.
  3. A couple of tidbits hot off the presses: - the Sox never considered Porcello today. There was only one team that contacted him besides the Yankees that picked after #10 - the Sox were leaning to taking Main or Alderson
  4. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) And if we picked Smoker, Griffith, Harvey, or Porcello all of you would have found reasons to blast the White Sox for those picks too. I'm calling bulls*** on that.
  5. Haha....congrats Tigers for not being a bunch of pussies. Bonderman, Verlander, Miller and Porcello = good night
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Yeah, as I've said, I'm not too upset -- there certaintly is projectability. I would have loved to have Smoker or Griffith, though. It's simple. If Poreda is a bust, we won't have to worry about the current collection of crosscheckers and scouts making any more decisions. If Minnesota or Detroit picks Smoker, Griffith, Harvey, or Porcello, we may be in trouble for quite a long time. We're in trouble for quite a long time no matter who they pick. It's sad to see this organization draft like a cheap team just because Borchard tanked.
  7. I think it's safe to say we had our hearts set on Main.
  8. He's got some pretty pathetic strike out numbers. Sounds like he might as well be Matt Thornton's brother.
  9. Someone post the Main scouting report for me?
  10. Flash...would you be happy with Main?
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) Rogers has said that the Sox will take him if he is there, so we shall see if Phil's sources are correct. Who, Main?
  12. I see Main going to the next two teams, as I've heard NL teams want him.
  13. What's the scouting report on Borbon?
  14. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) well not many thought he would last that far. I think all of the people talking about it on ESPN expect him to go to the Yanks.
  15. Guys with a lot more connections than us didn't even mention the White Sox when talking about Porcello.
  16. nitetrain....why exactly do you want us to take Jackson?
  17. Is Ozzie going to say that the draft is unethical because latinos can't be drafted?
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) Spend the f***ing money, no more Broadways and Mcculloughs, and other 88-90 mph clones because they are cheap and easy to sign. Burgess is Joe Borchard II tons of power, cant put the bat on the ball. Nick Schmidt reminds me of the type of guy we usually pick.
  19. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) yeah, but its not like we would actually take a tough signability guy, right? Who knows....for some reason, I think we'll go with one of the three guys who were supposed to be top picks, Savery/Brackman/Burgess
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) There is gonna be a top ten talent on the board for the Sox at 25, guarenteed. Will the Sox take him is the question? I will guess no. The Rangers being one spot in front of the Sox sucks, as they have the money and need to draft a high-priced pitcher.
  21. Arizona going to continue to build on their amazing young talent.
