Lots of scouts seem to think he wants to go play SS for the Cubs next year.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:49 AM) Their two young starters also made it through three innings a piece the last two games. Toronto has their own problems....if we could only combine the best players from every other team we would be awesome. Which other starter? McGowan seems to be "getting it".
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) and Masset. Oh that's right....we're fine!
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:44 AM) No. They have two. Casey Jannsen and Jeremy Accardo. The grass is always greener. Toronto, prior to heating up over the past week, was eight games under .500. Wolfe was pretty damn impressive with how hard he was throwing today.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:40 AM) If Gio came up as a reliever, I could support that. Gives him a taste of the League, and it's the old-time route to the rotation. He's not the first guy I'd call up, though. I'd enjoy seeing Gio called up. Give us another thing to add to the list of exciting aspects on this team.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) You act as though we have a high-priced bullpen... No...what I'm saying is that they have a lot of hard throwers in their organization that they've developed. Meanwhile, we don't.
-
If the Sox put MacDougal on waivers, he'll get claimed in a second. He has a reasonable contract, and teams will think they can fix his mechanics.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:02 AM) You act as though bullpen's are a simple thing to assemble. I know you're smart enough to know they aren't. As the resident genius in Cleveland about that last season. I can only imagine if we kept track of what everyone's great moves around here would be how incredibly laughable it would be. No, I know they're difficult. But I also know KW made a huge mistake this offseason in thinking that guys throwing hard is the main thing. I've always thought that having relievers with good sinkers is huge, as you can make the opposition put the ball in play and not worry about the long ball as much. The ironic thing is that our bullpen guys really don't throw that hard. Only Jenks and Thornton reach 96 mph. Heck, the Blue Jays had more velocity from their relievers than we do, and that was a bullpen where just about everyone makes the minimum.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:56 AM) Honestly fathom, if everything is so terrible all the time, why do you even get out of bed in the morning? It's not...I had a delightful day today, despite the Sox game. But when someone says that KW did an awesome job at putting together this team this offseason or that the Sox had the best offense in 2006, I'm going to laugh at that.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:46 AM) Kenny Williams is the 5th best GM in the Central division and has overseen the "construction" of the worst farm system in major league baseball. If Kenny wants to be really proactive here, his next move might be to fire himself. I love that last line....best laugh I've had all weekend that didn't involve the Cubs.
-
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:37 AM) Anderson and Fields for David Weathers? The sad thing is that a trade that bad in principle wouldn't even hurt the Sox in long run since neither guy projects to have impact in the bigs anyway... If KW did that, I'd hope someone punches him in the face. So our bullpen is Jenks, Thornton, Logan, Day, Prinz, and Buckvich?
-
I can't tell if this is supposed to be sarcastic or not. If so, then well done. If not....well, Go Sox!

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) A note on Craig Wilson, another 3 striekouts today, he whiffs like crazy. I'm sure you don't want to hear another negative thing from me, but an Atlanta Braves scout was talking with my "source" a few weeks ago, and he was raving about how bad Craig Wilson is. He said he should never play another game in the majors, and that he's playing at about A level baseball right now.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) I could see us having Dye or Hunter, but not both. I was close to putting Sweeney in instead of Dye....but that would just be too pathetic of an outfield.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:20 AM) I bet that is what is happening. You knew Tomas was coming as soon as we signed him, Ozzie can't resist. It would be another move that would just endear Ozzie to the likes of Fields, Anderson, etc.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) Your predicted roster comes out to about $97.5M not including any bench players, so you're talking at least a $100M payroll next season. I think we'll have a big payroll next year due to season ticket sales from this season. However, it's the 2008 attendance where we'll see season tix sales go down.
-
If we sent down Gonzalez to call up Perez....I quit!
-
Maybe we can have Brian Anderson pitch. He was a pitcher in college.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:06 AM) AGon showed up on Charlotte's roster. BA didn't play today for Charlotte. Any connection? I noticed that...but neither did Fields as well.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) We won't spend to keep Dye and Hunter with the attendance drop we have the 2nd half IMO, I'd rather see Egbert in the pen than Donnelly, and Figgins and Erstad in the same lineup will make me hurl. It's still too early for me to even come up with something like that, but I can see most of that happening. We're going to be opening up a lot of payroll though with Buehrle and Iguchi leaving, and Crede's money opening up. Even if our payroll goes down, we should still have some money available. If we lose all of our FA, and still don't have money.....then that's just pathetic. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) Is this what you want or what you think will happ'n? Think, not want. It's just for fun of course.

Robles sounds like another 90 mph fastball type guy....pass QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:00 AM) Yeah MIF help is the #1 concern right now by about a mile, but this isn't the greatest draft to try and find help there. There are a lot of directions we could head with this pick, a lot depends on what everybody before us does. Frazier seems like he could be a good fit, but does he project to be a light hitting middle infielder?
-
With everyone throwing around crazy trade ideas and scenarios, I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks what our team will look like next year: I'll go first 1b- Konerko 2b- Figgins ss- Uribe 3b- Fields c- AJP lf- Erstad cf- Hunter rf- Dye dh- Thome sp- garland sp- vazquez sp- contreras sp- danks sp- gio gonzalez relievers: jenks, thornton, aardsma, logan, russell, donnelly
-
Can we move down Russell after today?
-
I can't blame Ozzie anymore....this is ALL on Kenny

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 01:50 AM) But isn't it all part of his "reckless" style of play that contributes to those type of injuries occuring? I don't think any Sox fan is shocked when they see Rowand is injured yet again, any more than Cubs fans are with Prior or Wood. Was Rowand ever on the DL with the Sox?
