Brewers Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) How about Weeks and Braun for Buehrle and Iguchi? A little less lopsided. You're not going to get either guy for Buehrle, and throwing in a terrible defensive 2nd baseman who's a FA after this year isn't going to help. I bet the Brewers are scouting the Sox for Thornton.

Brewers Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) I would trade Buehrle straight up for Gallardo, but besides that the Brewers dont have many prospects im interested in. Maybe if they soured on Weeks a deal with him and Braun would be good. But I doubt that will happen even moreso than I expect to get Gallardo. Week and Braun for Buehrle? Interesting

Laumann new scouting director
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) Yes, he should. And if that's not enough, he also should quit if he is the person that provided you with the Rowand "agreement" rumor. No no, totally different person. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:21 AM) I don't get where you are going with this. The best GM's in the game who know their system in and out almost never see their 1st round picks in person before they pick them. KW has never been one to travel much to do the scouting. That's why people were expecting him to be much more visible on the scouting front the months prior to the draft. BTW, does anyone remember who was the scout given credit for signing Broadway?

Laumann new scouting director
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) I'll say right now that fathom's source is either full of s***, stupid, or he's making up the source altogether, because there is no way the person who I asked would be wrong about this subject. People know from where I get the information from, so there's an obvious connection to the draft. The person I talked to was shocked about the correlation between KW saying he was going to have more of a say, and then coming out and saying he's only seen Poreda on videotape.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) No offense, though it will sound like it, but your source is full of s***. GM's rarely, if ever, see draft picks in person. Then this person should quit his very high-profiled job. Maybe Flash could then get the position if it opens up.

I think I say this on behalf of most of the people here...
I think a big mistake we made was not bringing in a back-up SS when we found out Cintron would need surgery on his arm.

Laumann new scouting director
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Only about 98% of them. Well, then you and I are hearing differently, and I value the information I received from this person, as he's one of the individuals most closely connected with the draft. FWIW, the Sox were very upset when Main was picked, as he was the guy they wanted.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) Big f***ing whoop. Plenty of teams GM's haven't seen there first round picks in person. Yes, but those GMs usually don't make big deals about how they're going to be hands-on with the draft. It's funny though, because I asked the same question you did to a draft expert, and they said that GMs will usually go see at least 4 or 5 guys that they think will possibly be drafted by them in the first round.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
I don't care what the excuses are anymore, when the hitting has been this bad for so long, you fire the hitting coach. Since when has KW acted like such a pussy?

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) I think CoCo Crisp would be involved a deal because Kenny doesn't consider this rebuilding...more or less reshuffling. He's talking about core pieces, and you'd think that Buerhle would be part of that, but I guess he considers Thome, Konerko, Vazquez, Jenks and Garland (for at least 1 more year) to be that core. The best thing that could happen to the Sox today is if KW was fired. I get so worried that he'll try to acquire guys like Crisp or Jones.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:11 PM) I'm watching it too. I did notice that David Ortiz is faster than anyone on the White Sox. Yeah, he did have quite the nice slide. It's just amazing how poorly the Sox are at sliding.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) I hope that's just a wacky sarcastic guess and not some scoop like the Beck deal. No, the Beck thing was being reported on Baseball Primer when I woke up, they just didn't officially say it was him. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) How about Kottaras? God knows we have no catchers. He's terrible....batting .217.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) This place is gonna be up for grabs when Buehrle gets trade. Even if we absolutely rape a team's farm system. Everybody will be pissed. So it is not enough to be pissed at the team's preformance,be pissed at the moves. ... and if you are going to use that line in your article tomorrow Mr. Mariotti, please site it to Greg the Bull If we get Buccholz in the deal or Ellsbury and Bowden, I'll be very happy. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I'll smash something. But doesn't Wily Mo remind you of the type of player that KW loves? I'm sure he thinks Walker can fix him.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
Just a little reminder....if we trade Buehrle, don't worry. That money we save will be used this offseason to upgrade the team and get us back to the grind. That's right, you know who will be coming back!
-
Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
I'd just like to put in my final prediction for who we'd get if we traded Buerhle: Bowden and Wily Mo Pena.
-
Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
I think Ellsbury is definitely someone they'll trade, as they can afford to go get one of the FA CF's this offseason.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
That post stated it was a Score producer. Trust me, if he didn't board the charter, someone would find out about it.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
It's funny to think it's possible we'll be dealing with the Buehrle rumors for another month.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) I think it's safe to say the contract agreement was bogus. I think it's really strange that "BUEHRLE AGREES TO CONTRACT EXTENSION...MAYBE!" on WSI is reported before, say, "Buehrle Traded For _______" We should know for sure in about 30 minutes, when Red Sox game is over.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
Is it safe to say the contract agreement rumor was bogus?

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
"our scouts noticed something on video that they think they can correct"

Brewers Interested in Buehrle?
Braun's one of the strongest young players I've seen in a decade. But there's no way they're trading him, so it doesn't matter.
-
Brewers Interested in Buehrle?
Turnbow's not very good. A reliever that will be with us only only for the next 2 years or so is the last thing we should try to acquire.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) I'm with Maggs on this one. Obviously you are taking a risk, but I wait it out with Mark, at least for a few more weeks. Buehrle has shown no signs of slowing down, and the longer you wait, the better chance that more teams enter the equation due to injury, playoff contention, ect. The only way you rush this trade is if they're blowing you away with the proposal. KW's been getting offers for Buehrle for a month now, so he had a decent idea of what he migth be able to get. We should just start looking for any Red Sox minor leaguer who did good in Winter Ball.
