  1. Maybe it's me, but I really don't want to see Ozzie making it a habit of bringing in Jenks for 2 innings. If your team is that bad that you can't get it to the 9th inning for your closer, then I'd rather not see him be overused for the next month or so.
  2. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Martinez>Milledge Martinez, Milledge, and Pelfrey would be a good starting point if they are getting an extenstion. I would also want a middle infield prospect back as well. If Dye were included too, that would get very pricey for the Mets farm system, probably moreso than Minaya will pay. I say this politely, but your posts over the last few weeks make me think you have no idea about the trade value of players.
  3. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) Yep, I'm sure Ichiro is just jumping at the chance to play for a team that was under .500 in 2007 and looking to go young at many positions in 2008. Give up the Ichiro dream, it's not going to happen. Aaron Rowand will be our starting CF in 2008, I guarantee it.
  4. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Really? I mean I'm not disagreeing, but I think KW might want to wait until July to drive up the value and wait as long as possible before pissing off the fans. That's just me though If any fan actually believes this collection of talent is going to win a very good division, then they're a freaking idiot. The more we wait for the value to go up, the more we risk an injury to an aging player (Dye). The fans should be pissed off at KW and Ozzie for this year, but not because they'll trade some older players.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) I think they should ease KW into seeing this team isn't very good. No kidding...between this lineup and our bullpen, we're one of the worst teams in all of baseball. I honestly believe that Friday will be Buehrle's last start with the Sox.
  6. Had no idea Owens OPS was in the .430 range like it is, and that's after he did well his first two games.
  7. I have to say., this is a bad trade for the Cubs. They really downgraded their catching position with this deal.
  8. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Soto? and Bard or Bowen was the original rumor, then they moved to Linebrink. Buster Olney is reporting it on espn.com
  9. Now the rumor is it's for Bowen and a minor leaguer.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Linebrink? WTF?????? Padres over paid! Wouldn't surprise me....if there's one thing Hendry knows how to do, it's to get a lot of value for his players via trade. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Linebrink makes way above minimum. You can't have that in the bullpen. Eric Patterson is supposed to be a decent prospect. Linebrink is nothing special....he greatly benefits from pitching in that park. The Cubs now have 5 good righty relievers in Dempster, Marmol, Linebrink, Wuertz, and Howry. However, not having a solid everday catcher will hurt them.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Thornton's got to get a handle of his off-speed stuff. Too often hitters are getting locked into that fastball of his, and if he mis-locates it, it's gone. Almost the Neal Cotts syndrome all over again really. It makes you wonder what the hell is Don Cooper doing to help these guys?
  12. Dye's quad injury is a little more serious than first reported. We need to trade him now, before he eventually goes on the DL.
  13. I wonder if they'll get Bard back in the deal. I also wouldn't be surprised if they got someone like Meredith in the trade.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) Thome has been hurt for (at least) three years... Yep, but they said he reinjured it last week. It's to the point where we should really consider trading him.
  15. Thome got hurt when he played first base during the Phillies game. Didn't Ozzie say he would absolutely not play in the field this season?
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) I think Kenny clarified himself a bit more on PTI today. He made the comment along the lines of, "if things don't pick up soon, we're obviously going to have to look at a change in direction (ie, more youngins and less vets), but hopefully it won't come to that." All I ask is that we don't get swept by the Cubs this weekend. But perhaps losing two out of three with some really embarrassing baseball will put the nails in this coffin. With Thome possibly out, the chances that Zambrano shuts us out is quite high. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:26 AM) He didn't even bother throwing tonight on the steal attempts, but then again it didn't appear Johnny Bench in his prime would have had a chance. He also bounced a couple to Fields on strikeouts. But you know what, it's really paid off that he got a few innings in at first base during ST.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) If the White Sox do go into fire-sale mode, or at least mini-fire sale mode, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hall shipped off to a contender as he has really wanted to be on a contending team for a while now, I think. Hall needs to get surgery on his labrum done ASAP so that he can be ready for next year.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:17 AM) I agree with you, but it seems Williams and Co. don't. This francise right now should be at Defcon 4. I never thought I'd say this, but this mess is more of KW's fault than Ozzie's right now. Not only will the Sox likely suck for the next few years, but the Tigers and Indians are going to be incredible.
  19. I still predict next Monday will be the day we see things start to happen.
  20. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:06 AM) one could say that he his also hinting to his GM and saying give me some f***ing players that don't suck. This team has too many holes....at this point, you just admit failure this year and look to next year and 2009.
  21. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:59 AM) Ozzie agrees with Fathom... he is a bad manager. Good, then I hope he quits. He's just one of many in this organization who has sucked for too long of a period.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:53 AM) Once again, just another step closer until the fire. Amen....if Fields hits a homer and the Sox lose a close game, I'm not going to be upset. I just hope Thome will be able to face the Cubs this wknd. It's probably going to be the last 3 games of the season I really want us to win.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:51 AM) Anyone who thinks the Sox can make a run this year with this bullpen is f***ing delusional. Exactly....besides for the closer, it's the worst bullpen I've seen in the majors in a long time. I do love letting a lefty start against the 2-3-4 that destroys lefty pitching.
  24. I really hope we go a different direction for the SS position next year.
  25. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) How is it annoying. He is a 22 year old rookie who is learning on the job. This is a lot easier than watching Felix Diaz give up an 8 spot in the first inning, or Arnie Munoz take a dump on the mound. The stuff is there. The polish isnt. This season is about the kid learning, and taking his lumps. In every level, Danks has gotten pounded in the first half as the young guy on his team. Then he makes an adjustment and then dominates it. The kid learned that he doesnt have to be curve crazy tonight. Throw his fastball and his change and he can do well. You just want to see him get ahead of hitters
