White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) I hope we lose this game 1-0. It's just so fitting. I hope this team wins.

Has anyone mentioned how much DJ loves Terrero? Whenever Terrero plays, DJ is always going nuts about him. I'd love to see an argument between Hawk and DJ over the ability of Erstad vs Terrero.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) Yeah a 4th OF like Byrnes is going to turn the franchise around. Eric Byrnes would be a great fit in LF for us, but it's too bad he'll cost a fortune. Garland's always had one of the worst change-ups I've seen in the majors. He's been better since he stopped throwing it so much.

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) One of the broadcasters on FOX is talking like it's in the bag that Buehrle will be re-upped. or atleast he making it obvious that KW shouldn't let him get away but he will, won't he? He said they should bring him back....not exactly a deep thought. What JR and KW need to do at the end of this month is go to him with their final offer. If he laughs it off, then you trade him.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Hence my fear that we had our shot at being a legitmate franchise and will not turn out to be. Teams are not going to give up big prospects unless they sign him long-term and that is my fear. I see a couple of Jon Adkins returns. Williams has a tendency to make some really bad trades or not get enough in return for his players. Where does the $20M go if the three free agents leave? Crede also could be signed for a cut althoguh I doubt it. Great inning there I see another shutout. You'll see the payroll go from about 100 million to 80 million over the next few years. We were a good franchise for an extended period. We're going to be facing our roughest years in a long, long time coming up. Just be thankful we didn't extend Dye or Crede. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) regarding iguchi's pending free agent status, i'm all for signing luis castillo in the offseason. the sox better sign eric byrnes, tori hunter, or luis castillo. those are impact players we need and one fo those 3 could get us back on the winning track for next season. Yeah, Luis Castillo is the one thing keeping us from being good.

Well that's just stupid. Nothing like finally sending him on a 2-2 pitch. Iguchi always gets distracted with a runner in motion. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Put Fields in f***ing motion Hey Gooch, swing the mother f***ing bat. God you are pissing me off. Hopefully Iguchi keeps swinging decently so we can trade him. I want nothing to do with him from 2008 and out.

2-1 is a good situation for a hit-and-run. I don't get it....Ozzie said he wants to get guys on that can run so he can be active, yet he tries nothing.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) I am sorry but this is a guy you try and keep. I do not want AAA players. He makes every start and that is very rare. You build a team around him and Garland if you are a serious franchise. I hate to break it to you, but both Buehrle and Garland will likely not be with the White Sox come 2009.

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
We have the uppercut swings going today. And Buehrle's going to make way too much money in this next contract. We have too many holes to give him 4/60.

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
The good news is that Buster Olney said today that Buehrle might go on the market soon, and he'll be the best player available.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) On a note totally unrelated to your post, Clippard has impressed me so far. I think he's going to be a nice middle-to-back-end starter for the Yanks. That's the type of guy I would've liked to have seen Kenny get along with Gio in the Freddy G trade. We only trade for hard throwers now. Pitching ability is overrated. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) i know man, its the first time our hitters have ever faced amazing stuff and fastballs THIS IS THE MAJORS! USUALLY GUYS HAVE AMAZING STUFF! You do know I was being sarcastic?

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) Can we please just leadoff Thome? God damn it. He hasn't exactly been lighting it up since he came back from his injury.

Uribe's horrific mechanics have taken away all of his power. I can't believe Greg Walker still has a job.
-
White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
I understand why we've struggled this week: Clippard, Mussina, Sampson, and Jennings just had amazing fastballs and great stuff.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) And then he sits on the bench laughing it up. It's as if he doesn't even give a f***. Yet we're not allowed to argue that this team isn't hustling.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Nice hustle Gooch, dumbass Nice hustle, nice slide. Isn't Shines supposed to be motioning for him to slide to the inside part of the bag?
-
White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
Unreal.....it seemed like it took him 6 seconds to go from 2nd to 3rd. Another terrible slide by a Sox hitter after Iguchi wasn't hustling all the way.

This umpire has a very tiny strike zone. Someone's going to get ejected today.

Owens Hurt
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) You have to think Owens basically was rated as better than BA in the system and better than Sweeny since Owens was the one brought up when Pods was hurt. I guess we should keep an open mind, but how many of our great prospects have done anything to contribute at the big league level? Owens wasn't even rated in the same stratosphere as those guys.

AJ suspended 1 game
ESPN just announced it. Just tell him to appeal it, then drop it tomorrow and let Hall play.

Our Top Prospects
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Your ignorance is astounding. It's almost as if you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Gonzalez is indeed repeating AA, but is in a different division this year. He has absolutely no advantages when it comes to seeing hitters for a second time because he's not. He's also 21, but age doesn't matter because he's repeating a league. Right, great logic. Furthermore, here are Gio's splits away from the Met: 27 IP 26 H 8 BB 41 SO .248 BAA .635 OOPS .67 HR/9 He's actually giving up more homers per 9 at the Met than on the road. Outside of one start in May, he's been hovering around his April numbers, which were fantastic. If you want to spout off on someone who is overrated, please talk about Russel and not Gonzalez. I like Gio....I just don't see him as a #2 pitcher in the majors as people are pencilling him in for around here. If he ends up being a #4 for the next 5 years, then I have no problem at all with that. And yes, Adam Russell is quite overrated by some also. His best opportunity to help this team is as a power righty set-up man. I do like saying my comments are ignorant though, as everything I said about Gio was relayed to me by about 5 minor league experts. We need to call him up to AAA, as pitching in a hitter's park will give him a better example of what it's like to pitch at the Cell. We need Gio to be our Rich Hill.
