2007 Post ASB MLB Catch-All Thread
Holy cow, the umpire in the 8th inning of the Cubs game is squeezing the crap out of Romero. Of course, it all started because Ryan Howard made another defensive blunder by throwing the ball high to 2nd when Soriano was picked off.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 8/01/07 (L)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) You really believe all of them deserve to be canned? No, sorry, should have worded that better. However, I honestly think one HAS to be fired, and think that there needs to be more personnel shuffle than just that. I'm beginning to wonder how KW is going to survive another season.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) 7 hits allowed by Yankee pitching today, all 7 came from left handed hitters. It's a shame Ozzie "makes the f***ing lineup" today could have been a good day for Richar to face his first major league lefty starter. What really irks me is that KW, Ozzie, Walker, and Cooper likely won't lose their jobs this offseason.

Embarassing games for the Sox...it's disgusting to see how much the talent level on the big league team sucks.

Floyd Replaces Contreras in Rotation
It's a smart move. I echo KW's sentiments from yesterday that things didn't go well for this club.

This is men against boys out there. We might want to watch how many innings Danks throws the rest of the way.

How many hits can Danks allow with 2 strikes tonight?

Couple of comments: - It was dumb to move Fields up to the #2 spot just when he was getting comfortable at the plate. There's nothing about his game that leads you to believe he'd be good in that 2 spot, and he hasn't looked good at the plate in the few games since. - .19 ERA is all that is keeping me from saying KW had a horrible offseason.

Awesome....we get to see the Richar/Gonzalez platoon go into effect tonight.
-
Gavin Floyd?
Floyd's stuff sucks. The only pitch which is close to being above average is his curve. His fastball is average with little movement. I put this in the game thread last night, but he almost throws a hanging fastball. He has no chance to get lefties out right now with the tilt of his pitches.

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:43 AM) We must really suck then because we went 4-14 against the NL this year. We do, especially during that stretch.

BTW, I'm sorry if anyone's offended I put the Brewers/Cubs stuff in this thread.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:40 AM) It really doesn't matter. Have you seen the Cubs schedule in September? They will waltz to a division title. The NL may be worse this year than last. Yeah, that's a good point. At least they'll officially reach first place tonight after the local news is over, so we don't have to get that as the lead story.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:34 AM) I wonder if KW could have got the same deal from Philadelphia for Contreras instead of Garcia. Even if he paid Freddy to do nothing this year, he would have shed Contreras' contract and been done with Freddy after 2007. I definitely think he could of.

Nice performance by Matt Wise....10 pitches, 10 balls. Go f*** yourself Brewers.

White Sox Loser Thread
Wow, this is unreal. Like I mentioned before, the defense being played against the Brewers has been amazing, and the defense vs the Cubs is pathetic.
-

Wow, horrible AB for Ryan Braun. The Brewers are allergic to getting clutch hits these days.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:23 AM) yeah... I'm prepared to see Jordan Danks be our draft pick next season. I heard just terrible reviews about his play for Team USA>

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 03:05 AM) Yeah, I don't understand why the umpire was so stubborn to not ask for help by the 1st base ump or 3rd base ump. He blew two calls that inning, and he has one of the smallest strike zones I've ever seen. Glavine might have walked 50 guys if the Brewers never swung.

Anyone else just see the Brewers get screwed by the umpire, and then Graffy hit a fly ball to the fence? Mercy, just one of those days.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 02:44 AM) They're not going anywhere in October, if they even get there. I wish I could agree with this, but they have the makings of a team that can do some damage. They have the best pitcher in baseball right now, and he can easily get them enough wins in the playoffs to make it so Lilly and company only have to split their games. Also, Marmol reminds me so much of K-Rod during the Angels run to the WS. Just my thinking, and I'd be so incredibly thrilled if I was wrong.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 02:40 AM) I could give less than two s***s about the Cubs. Cool...but those of us stuck around them non-stop at work, it's hell right now.

Seriously, why can't teams play defense anymore when they face the Cubs?

- Get nothing at the trade deadline to help this team's future.....CHECK - Get stuck with Jose Contreras and 20 million dollars......CHECK - Contreras prove once and for all that he doesn't belong in the rotation.....CHECK - Gavin Floyd continue to show that he sucks.........CHECK - Cross-town rivals go into first place, as the bandwagon overflows.....CHECK Yep, this is just about the worst baseball day we've had yet during a horrible baseball season.
