  1. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) It's crazy that Danks will probably have another decent start this game (I'm banking) and he's will not quite ready yet. (that alone is amazing) Alot of pitchers have been rushed and some succeed. Danks alone is the best 5th starter we've had for a long time already. It wasn't even a question whose better between him and Floyd. As for his fastball, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's pitched both his starts in 35+ degree weather which is pretty hard to throw heat in. But if he doesn't go over 90 in warmer weather then yea. I'll take McCarthy from 2005 as the best 5th starter. And I think that Vazquez as a 5th starter last year put up better numbers than anyone we can have for the entire year.
  2. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) seriously '00 was nearly a decade ago. I remember everyone on this site the last two years accusing Erstad of juicing.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) And a hand-written note from your fiancé would also be nice. FWIW, I made her watch the Hall of Fame inductions, and she started to cry during Dusty Rhodes speech.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) I wouldnt say BA would play better defense at this point. I think Erstad is getting the best jumps ive seen in a long time, and i think that hes playing almost GG caliber defense. I dont know if BA is any better at this point, in fact i dont think he is. I agree....Brian Anderson's defense is severely overrated. I'm more interested in seeing if he could provide any offense. Hell, at this point, I'd rather have Thome bat 2nd, and Uribe 3rd.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) It would be helpful, thanks. I can also give you the bank slip for the cash I took out to go by wedding bands after the game.
  6. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) There were quite a few who wanted to give up on Jermaine Dye in April/May of 2005. Those people were idiots. We had no suitable replacements...and I think they just liked calling him Dead.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) Pitching. ...and I can't be the only one who noticed SSI71 and fathom showing up after the home runs. I love these types of challenges....do I have to show the receipt for the Subway sandwich I went and bought with my fiancee at 12 today.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) I'd bet anything you'd like. He could be good some day, but he is being rushed now because he got a few guys out in spring training. Yeah, I think Danks will be a solid starter for us for a good number of years. However, his command is not even close to being MLB ready. He'd break the MLB record for homers allowed if he last the whole year. I'm still waiting to see his fastball get over 90 mph like we were told it would. I wonder if they'll teach him a 2-seamer.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) The first week was cute and all, but it's really really really really f***ing time to sit Erstad. He'll be the Pods of this year when he can do absolutely horrible for a long stretch, but Ozzie still won't sit him. Do we really think he'll sit Erstad for Anderson?
  10. 4-3.....shocking! Isn't it time for him to go on the DL?
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Our offense blows right now. I have no clue how we've won 4 out of 6 games.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) There are a lot of people that say he allows too many homers, obviously feeling that it is something he will never be able to improve upon. Weren't his homer rates high in the minors?
  13. Awful first time thru the order. Way too many strike outs so far.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) I'll take a bet that Danks will be second on our team for the most K's. He has givin up some homers but he has also K'ing an impressive rate. At this rate, Konerko will be 2nd.
  15. 2 runs thru 2 isn't bad. We couldn't expect him to hold the Indians down. What's the chances of an Erstad 4-3 this inning?
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) What is wrong with his change? I thought Barfield's was on a high change. I'm just not impressed with his offspeed stuff at all. He seems to have no command.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) 5 ER allowed this year by John all coming via the HR. 3 allowed now. On the radio before the game, they said Danks tops out at 94 mph.
  18. He's going to give up a ton of homers this year. That changeup has a long way to go.
  19. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) Out and over the plate = not so good location to throw a fastball He has no command on his fastball.
  20. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) has anyone noticed that Paul Byrd kinda looks like the Undertaker from wrestling back in the day. I was watching a couple years ago in the playoffs and boy hood flashbacks were popping in my head lol. Anyway lets burry him lol .....wow im corny He looks more like Chris Benoit.
  21. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:00 AM) Welcome to the Jungle, Eric Gagne returns with a save. I didn't see it but to strike out Ichiro, his changing of speeds must have been good He threw all 93 mph fastballs to Ichiro. Gagne looked solid....but still a shell of how good he used to be. Ichiro is swinging an invisible wand right now.
  22. Can we put Anderson in to play SS? Come on Uribe.
  23. Wow....they're going to keep sitting on that offspeed pitch if he can't throw over 94 mph.
