  1. Escobar goes 7-1 with no command and not a good splitter.
  2. I can't tell you how proud KW should be of this team. Quite the collection of talent. If we were only in the NL, we'd be fine due to not needing a DH.
  3. Please, please, please release Cintron. I'd rather see Andy Gonzalez.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:51 AM) Nasty pitch. 6 IP, 6 H, 2 BB's, 6 K's 1 ER Only one of those hits was extra bases, and that was Grinderstad's f***up. I'll take that line all the time. Am I the only one who remembers how unhittable Contreras was until June last season? We all do, but that's why we're concerned with his decline in stuff. Hopefully he's found the release point on his forkball.
  5. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) Well, LaRussa had a DUI in March and his player died and the team is controlled by a brewery....interesting soap opera this season has become for the Cardinals. Think their fans are happy with Jocketty copying KW this offseason? No, I don't think they are happy. They shouldn't be.....that team is brutal. I wish we would have signed Preston Wilson though.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) Well considering you're 5 feet from the ledge because of Chris Young, I'll chalk him up too. Reed put up better numbers than Milledge in the minor leagues as well. Anderson has had better minor league seasons than Milledge too. No, I'm not ready to state Chris Young is a superstar. However, people that see him a lot more than you and I do think he projects to be a damn good major league player. Like I said earlier though, getting rid of Contreras in a deal is more about freeing up payroll than who we really get back.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:46 AM) Fathom, what's the extent of Milledge's injury? Wrist problem, I believe.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:44 AM) Do you actually think Ozzie managed the 2006 and is managing the 2007 team like the 2005 team? My biggest complaint about Ozzie last year was that he didn't adjust to the 2006 personnel. Rather, he acted like we had 2005's team still. The 2006 roster had a lot more power than the 2005 team did, yet Ozzie still tried to play smallball and give away outs. Also, our pitching was obviously tired last year, but Ozzie never, ever took out the starting pitchers sooner rather than later.
  9. On the possible bright side for me, Rowand, aboz, etc., I think there could be an issue looming which has Ozzie making an idiot out of himself written all over it. MLB is going to ban alcohol from the clubhouse...I can't wait to hear what Ozzie thinks about that.
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:41 AM) ....because you can get more for him. Is it a good trade for the Yankees to move A-Rod for Alex Gordon? In the long run Alex Gordon could be a good player and A-Rod could opt out of his contract, but the Yankees could get more for A-Rod. Gavin Floyd supposedly had a high ceiling as well. This organization has done a fine job of developing OF who put up better numbers than Milledge. I really don't know how much value Contreras will have with 2 yrs left on his deal at a significant amount when you add in his declining stuff. I assume you're referring to Ordonez and Lee when it comes to developing outfielders. We have no one close to their power potential in the minors right now.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:41 AM) The 86 year old will be paid 10MIL in 2009, according to Kal. Did KW just get extremely lucky in the offseason before 2005, or has he just had bad luck since then?
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:40 AM) Signed through 2009. f***
  13. I have a feeling Hawk's defense of Greg Walker is going to get really annoying.
  14. So, does Contreras have 1 yr or 2 yrs left on his deal after this season?
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:37 AM) holy christ we don't care anymore Yet no one gets on the manager. This isn't even close to being fun to watch. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:38 AM) We have way too many #8 hitters in our lineup right now. And a few #7 hitters in the minors.
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:36 AM) Horrible trade. We can get more than that. Why are you so obssesed with this guy? Is it because Beane showed interest in him? Why would it be horrible if you're clearing yourself of Jose's contract while adding an actual outfield prospect with a high ceiling. Another fantastic AB....is AJP the most overrated player in the AL Central?
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:34 AM) Contreras for Milledge. Boom, done. Lastings star is fading quickly. He's hurt right now. I don't think any New York team will be interested in Contreras.
  18. If things continue to suck, KW should go up to Buehrle and make him a final offer. If he declines it, trade him.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:28 AM) So Ozzie calls for the hit and run on a 2-2 count with two outs resulting in JD swinging at absolute s***. Gotta love the smallbrain, I mean smallball mentality. EDIT: Yahoo is telling me it was 3 balls. Which is it? It was a full count. All you have to do is throw a 3-2 offspeed pitch, and the Sox will strike out.
  20. It will happen soon enough. Danks is the only person who I will lose a second of sleep over if they're traded. The talent level in our organization is frighteningly low right now, despite Hawk and DJ saying how much talent we have.
  21. Dye refuses to walk this year, as he chases so many pitches with 3 balls. I told my brother that if a splitter is thrown on 3-2, he'll miss it by a mile.
  22. Escobar isn't even close to being sharp tonight.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:23 AM) Honestly, I don't care if Sweeney hits .220 this season, I'd love to see the Sox just say 'f*** it' and keep him up here the whole season. Despite the fact that Sweeney has never dominated a level, the Sox have always pushed him. Why not keep him up here for the whole season? He's going to be part of the future outfield eventually, let him get his lumps this year. Hell, make him the #2 hitter. KW forfeited any title chances in 2007 more during last offseason than moving Sweeney into that spot would.
  24. No matter how good or bad the pitcher is, they still just don't give up many runs against the Sox. Someone can put this in their sig if they want, but I guarantee that the 2007 White Sox don't make the playoffs.
  25. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:20 AM) Okay, according to my World Series DVD and other associated video I dont remember El Contreras the side armer. So someone needs to either get him an MRI on his back, or they need him to get his arm angle up a tick. Sure you can drop down to give another angle to the batter. But when you dramatically change your arm angle to side arm primary, then something aint too kosher with the old back there. Last year in Texas, 97 on the gun from 3/4s mixing in a few side armers. Side Arm Count is something that was created after his sciatica acted up and he went on the DL. Ha, I was watching the Game 1 DVD as well today. His wind-up was much quicker then also, and he rarely threw his slider.
