Who are we facing in the Seattle series?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:20 AM) That's ridiculous. I think he makes too much money for what his role is. I've been saying it all offseason....I thought he'd be a good candidate to leave in order to open up a roster spot.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) That's precisely why Alex Cintron cannot be your DH. I've never seen someone look worse in every AB to start a season that he has. I don't think he's hit a single ball hard all season. Our bench has been absolutely horrific this season when you consider the nothing contributions from Anderson, Cintron, and Molina.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) Christ. At least Razor didn't send him. Make it hurt, for once. Surprised Crede didn't go too far and get in a run down. Happens with him all the time. Haha.....Cintron needs to be DFA'd. He's overswinging so much.

Nice swing by Crede! Be a nice time for Cintron to contribute this season.

Pathetic AB by our #6 hitter. I never thought I'd see the day where Mackowiak was a 6 hitter in the AL.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) Fathom, I think Wright is hittable tonight, do you? So far gooseeggs. You mean Weaver? Sure he's hittable, but we always struggle with guys who change speeds. Simply put, I don't expect much out of this lineup.

Nice AB by Dye. He's showing better flexibility at the plate.

SSI's favorite type of pitcher....throws outside fastballs and low change-ups.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:05 AM) Doomed is a good word, but maybe too strong. I will be flamed for this, but I wish we had both Carlos Lee and Rowand on the team right now. Oops ... did I really write that? I'm going to be burned at the steak (Sizzler, Bonanza, Chop House). I'll take the 2005 World Series memories/DVD over having Carlos Lee back.

So our RHP lineup will look like this: Erstad, Iguchi, PK, AJP, Dye, Mackowiak, Crede, Sweeney, and Uribe Looks like an 83 win team to me.

Thome to the DL
People who think we hit too many homers will be pleased, as I'm very confident that Sweeney is getting called up.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) No chance. He's too good a run producer. As big a guy as Thome is and as hard as he swings and his age, it does not surprise me when he gets hurt at this stage of his career. I wonder if he can stay healthy enough to get to 500 homers. This type of injury this season is really going to hamper him for a long time. I'm with you though Greg....I think we're doomed right now.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) No he isn't. He's a one-pitch pitcher. He's an average pitcher. Doesn't matter, his results speak for themselves.

No reason given for Sweeney being scratched tonight. Everyone in the press box thinks he was called up. Fields looked brutal, and Haeger was up in the zone with everything.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Where did you hear this and what did he do? Ozzie just said he has a sore arm. Ozzie mentioned Fields, Sweeney, and Terrero.

How many games have we had this year where we only had one or two hits thru the first 3 innings? QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) Owens not playing for Charlotte either. He's hurt

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:52 PM) I'd have really liked Pence but we wouldn't have needed him. I'd have preferred Hirsh + Willy T to Garland. Of course, that's a great gamble but the way I see it it'd free up payroll and replace an average starter for a guy with a huge ceiling. Garland is better than an average starter, but Pence would give us the high ceiling outfield offensive player we lack. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:52 PM) Josh Fields with 3 errors for Charlotte tonight, Sweeney was in the starting lineup on Gameday but did not play. Trying to confirm he was promoted with someone at the game. Cintron is absolutely horrific right now. Luis Terrero is hitting .233 in the minors with zero walks. If anything, he should be demoted. All I know right now is that we're in a lot of trouble.

Couple of nice plays by Uribe that inning.

FWIW, Sweeney isn't playing for Charlotte tonight.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) I would say yes if we sign Perez, and Hall comes back soon. Perez DHing and Hall catching vs LHP would be a huge upgrade. Mackowiak can fill in for Thome against RHP. Isn't Mackowiak already playing in LF? Meanwhile, something new and unusual for Crede.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
Here's a question I'd like to see what people think about: if Thome misses 30 or so games due to injury, does anyone think we have a chance in this division?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) You know, I can't believe we insisted on so much for Jon Garland. What Colorado got would've been just fine. Hirsh is a good young pitcher. With a good arm and great size. Hirsh, Pence, and another prospect would have been a great trade. We'll probably be looking to trade Garland again this offseason.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) omg, omg, omg. For some reason I thought this game didnt begin until 7!!! Neither did our pitcher or CF's arm.

For those counting at home, that's four hits allowed with 2 strikes so far.
