White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:42 AM) Where do we find this competent DH? Is it really worth giving up too much for one when you consider Thome will be here next season? Even one which isn't highly regarded, we're going to pay more then necessary. Find a guy who will be a FA after this year or can play in LF. I know some might hate him, but Jacque Jones is someone who could really help this team.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:38 AM) But you can't sacrifice 2008-2012 either, though. Even with a healthy Thome, the odds are stacked against this team. And that really has nothing to do with this team, per se -- it's just, there are three other very good teams in this division. I know it's a defeatist attitude to say something like this, but chances are we don't win the division. Then we might as well hope to struggle enough to be far out of competition by the trade deadline so we can get a return on Buehrle and Dye. There's no excuse to have the odds stacked against this team. KW failed this offseason in regards to 2007.

Wanted: Designated Hitter
With Thome out for a while, can we just switch to the NL for the next few months? There's no way we can get by with someone like Cintron or Anderson as the DH.

What does Egbert throw? I hope all these low ERAs are a sign of us having some good pitching as opposed to just weak hitting leagues. I've been told that the hitting in the International League is about the worst the league's ever seen. Some fantastic defense plays that inning. Can we get the tying run up to the dish?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) Heck yes. Even if Thome isn't going to be 100 percent until July, I don't like the idea of making any trades. How do we know if this team would be in contention even if he were healthy? If they're bad, they're bad. It'll be because other players haven't turned themselves around, and/or the pitching collapsed. You'd be doing this team a disservice though to not field a competent DH. With Thome and Pods not coming back until June, you can't let this team fall too far behind. Considering this is likely our last year to compete for the championship for the next few years, you can't sit on your hands and do nothing.

It's going to be a very, very long road trip.

I hate games that are decided after the first batter of the game.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:19 AM) I'm still under the belief Williams should avoid any upgrades out of the organization. Don't make any drastic decisions. It's much too early to know anything; including how this time will react if Thome is out for an extended period of time. You just are afraid we'll trade a pitching prospect. BTW, Thome won't be close to 100 pct until at least the ASB.

Oh boy, I love this offense. KW has his work cut out for him, as we're going to need an upgrade.

Iguchi has really looked bad in some recent ABs.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
Another good AB for Erstad. We'd have a couple of runs tonight if not for our bench players in the lineup.

Uribe pops up an absolutely terrible pitch. I have no confidence in Ozzie to handle this DH spot the right way.
-
White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
Cintron continues to be a rally killer. It's pretty pathetic we have no one else that can DH.
-
White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
Let's get Erstad is position to drive in some runs.

This is going to be a damn good Angels team when their guys get healthy.

Very impressed with Napoli's game calling. He's set up our hitters with a lot of offspeed stuff and then busted them in with 2 strikes on the inner half.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:52 AM) Jered is not happy. He's not as big of an asshole as his brother, but he's close.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) Well we're not going to be THAT bad all season. This offense is far from terrific but it's certainly not that bad. The problem with Thome being out is that our OBP will drop significantly.

Another K for Konerko. I've never seen him whiff so much in his career.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) Those batting averages Fathom listed are abysmal. Greg Walker and his hitters: D-minus right now. Greg Walker's job security diminished greatly once Thome got hurt.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:36 AM) Yikes. This is sick. Has Weaver been that good or is it more of the same from our offense? Weaver wasn't really sharp to start the game. Last inning he had better stuff. As long as a pitcher throws a change-up against the Sox, he'll have success.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)
Look at the up-to-minute batting averages of our lineup: .244/.246/.212/.203/.236/.216/.220/.056/.246 That might be the worst I've ever seen this late in the season.

The best thing we could do for our roster is call up Sweeney, send down Anderson, and sign Eduardo Perez.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) 88mph straight fastballs usually allow hitters an opportunity to make contact above the strike zone.... Garland needs to me more perfect now, with almost Felix Diaz arsenal, then he has been in the past. When will someone in the press question why every Sox pitcher is down in velocity, some drastic?

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) Weaver is pitching well so far. He's making them beat him a single at a time, and we're not a fast team on the basepaths. It's not an accident he went 9-0 to start his career last year. His stuff is nowhere near where it was last year. His fastball is down quite a few mph right now.
