2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
We're going to be hearing that injury excuse for a long time now as a reason Walker should still have a job.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:45 AM) correct me if im wrong, but we dont have a backup center fielder now or do we? if so, i dont see how perez or fields can help us right now. we need someone to backup erstad, unless we want to see mack out there. it was to hard for anderson to play once a week, so calling sweeney up, who is younger and has less major league exp. makes no sense. so, my guess is that it will be terrero.(sadly) It will be Sweeney. There's no f***ing excuse for Terrero to make this team other than the fact that Ozzie likes him.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Haaarold @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:32 AM) All you Anderson bashers have your heads up your rears, and obviously don't know a thing about the game aside from what you read in the newspaper or on this website. Your the same bunch that wanted Crede gone mid-way through the '05 season... now you can't live without him. Yes his his bat is slow, but aside from the Pujols' and the Sizemores' and a few other select players around the league, there aren't too many guys coming up from the minors that immediately make a huge impression after only one season. A year from now when he is gone and hitting .290 w/ 90 rbi's and playing a gold glove caliber cf you 'll be complaining how stupid KW was for moving him. Learn a little something about the game before you post bunk like that. Not sure he could even put up those numbers in Little League with his current swing. I'll be so proud of Anderson if he can go down to the minors and excel.

Broadway injured
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) What's he heartless about? Any word? Sweeney going up? Who knows...just an observation of how he looked. I don't want to state anything I'm not confident about, but it wouldn't shock me if this was something heads was referring to earlier.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) Its good to see the scouting department finally get called out in numbers. They are lousy. Same for minor league instructors. Our only fundamentally sound players are from other teams. Also the only guys with fastballs above 90 mph seem to come from other systems as well.

Broadway injured
I heard it might be a back injury, not sure though. The reports this weekend about Fields aren't promising. I was told he looked as heartless as a professional player can look with all of his errors caused by being lazy. He swung and missed numerous times this weekend.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) As well as they should. That's quite a bold statement with little to no factual evidence. Why do people think this is the complete end of Anderson? What if Mack or Erstad gets hurt? (assuming it's not within the next two days.) What exactly has Eduardo Perez been up to lately? Does he still want to play? I fully expect Sox to go into rebuilding mode after this year. I don't see any situation where we bring back Buehrle or Dye. With that in mind, unless we're willing to actually spend enough money to be competitive, we'll be looking to trade Garland and Crede this offseason.

An embarrassing couple of days for the organization.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I forgot about Pods coming back also so somebody will be going down to the famr right? Maybe Logan? At least another month for Pods is back. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) It's the right move. Anderson was doing very little, if anything, to help this team. However, as I driving home from the game, listening to the news, I immediately knew we wouldn't see Anderson in Chicago again, unless its with the opposition. A shame, but I just think the bridges have already been burned. I just hope this is the end of seeing young guys get in the doghouse for some reason and not be able to get out of it.

Anderson sent down to AAA
Here's the big issue: if Anderson has no future with this organization, then we're really going to regret it when we going into full rebuilding mode after this year.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) I'd go nuts if Terrero was called up, and Perez wasn't at least given some AB's down in Charlotte to get ready. There's no excuse for Terrero being on the team, other than "Yeah we know he sucks, but we're not delaying his development like we were with Anderson" As of right now, no transactions involving Charlotte players. However, as I posted in another thread, Broadway left the game after 2 pitches.

Broadway injured
You won't get more up-to-date news than this. Broadway left his start today in Charlotte after two pitches due to injury. No word on what it is yet.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Sweeney. Terrero's not coming up. He hasn't taken a walk, and is hitting like crap in Charlotte. He's more useless than Anderson. You'll see either Fields or Perez in the starting lineup at DH on Tuesday against Washburn, with Ozuna in LF. Never underestimates Ozzie feelings in regards to a player. He likes Terrero. Hell, I'm sure he'll make a joke about how he never walked either.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) Who is the back-up CF? Sweeney? Terrero? I'll puke if Terrero gets called up. .254 is his OBP. I'd have to guess that Sweeney is the back-up CF, but let's face it, Erstad is god-like and will never need a break. We desperately have to go outside the organization for help right now. Years of not producing home grown offensive talent has finally caught up.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) Why would they pick today to decide to send him down. Are they gonna try to blame him for keeping our players out late at night, and having a bad influence on all our offensive players!! He wasted a month on the bench, they should have just kept Eduardo Perez in the first place. I honestly have no idea what this org. is doing and I don't think they know neither. There's a struggle going on between KW and Ozzie. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I hope he gets picked up by Texas or Florida & gets another chance. He's still pretty young and a bunch of guys have managed to turn into productive major leaguers after 400 lousy at-bats. Hopefully he'll be one of them. He could start for the Marlins right now.

White Sox loser
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) 1. He sucks. 2. he's got a bum arm. 3. all we need is another left-handed hitter with no power. Are you saying that the ball doesn't jump off of Sweeney's bat?

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) You forgot about Masset, who has lost the most velocity. I think you have to look at one man. How do we know he's lost velocity? Scouting reports on minor league players are usually 3 mph way too high. I never understood why we put so much stock into Arizona Fall Leagues/winter ball leagues this offseason.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) Brian Anderson will never again play for the Chicago White Sox. It's amazing what has taken place all thanks to that Vazquez trade.

Anybody ever see that many bloop hits
QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) Mercy that was ridicolous. They had like 12 hits id say half were these little 4 hopper ground balls or jam shot bloopers with broken bats that just reaching the outfield. This is getting a little too aberration-like for me to consider quality baseball play. We had 8 hits yesterday drew 4 walks and stranded all 12 with 0 runs and then today. Man I dont remember ever before seeing this much un traditional like stuff. Just weird. Thanks Hawk...it's called not having a massive uppercut swing.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) Punch yourself in the f***ing head Hawk. Next time you are gonna play this heartless just f***ing stay home, offense. GOOD APRIL? WHAT THE f*** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT HAWK May will be better with Mackowiak and Sweeney or Cintron in the lineup every game.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) I say the Cubs. Better manager, thats for sure. Pinella is overrated as a manager. I love their offense though.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Once again, confidence in our softer-throwing, fat-body closer is declining. I've never seen so many players have their velocity drops. The sooner this whole coaching staff is gone, the better.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) No Hawk, it's not a f***ing joke. Isn't it amazing what happens when you don't have an uppercut on every swing? Interesting question: who has better team, Cubs or Sox?
