  1. I don't think I've ever seen Konerko strike out in 5 out of 7 at-bats.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Who do you want out there? If you have a problem with our roster, your problem is with Kenny W. My only beef is Iguchi should be batting second. he stinks down in the order. Donde es Pablo?
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:40 PM) Our lineup today sucks pee pee It's too bad we couldn't win the series last night.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) EVERYONE cares he blew the save. This is soxtalk, he goes 1,2,3 nobody says a thing. This is his typical velocity in April, 90-92. I dont know how many more times he and the org needs to say it. Garland was sitting at 88 mph on his fastballl last night, how come nobody is talking about HIS drop. Garland was the same velocity he was at last year. Jenks showed last year that he lost a lot of velocity during the 2nd half of last season, and he was not nearly as effective. Between the hip issue and complaining of tightness this ST, we're just worried that he won't stay healthy this year. Even before the runs scored, people were asking last night what happened to Jenks fastball.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) OMG a closer blew a save OMG!!!!!!!!!! No one cares that he blew a save. It's the massive drop in velocity. It's not time to panic yet, but we need him to get back above 95 mph in order to be effective like he was in the first half of last year.
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) I don't care if Mack should or should not have been batting in that situation. You don't freaking slap at pitches low and away when there are no outs, and you have a runner on 3rd. As a player, you should be able to drive a ball in the outfield. And Mack, who isn't an everyday player, should have taken advantage of getting a start, instead he blows it. He is a MLB hitter, freaking make the play, don't blow it. Don't make freaking excuses for him by saying he shouldn't have been batting. He is getting paid a couple million for mainly his bat and versitility, earn some of that money. And what would Anderson had done instead of Pods? Make a perfect laser throw to throw out Bradley? I doubt it. And after looking at the replays of the final hit, it looks like the ball hit of the wall, then hit pods in the head, because the ball seems to come down at a different angle. So, do you expect Anderson to be able to jump 5 feet to make that catch? And I don't understand all this Pods hate right now, how has he done anything wrong? Mediocre D, which was not expected at first from 'Prancer' and he has been this teams best hitter. Mackowiak had the team's best hit yesterday with his hit-and-run rocket. He's a lefty bench player....he probably won't face a lefty pitcher more than 20 times all season. And for all the praising of Pods offense, he did strike out with a runner on 3rd and one out, and then he had the stupid bunt to strand a runner on 3rd as well. THE BALL DIDN'T HIT THE WALL!
  7. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) I can't wait to see all the BA hater/Pods lovers come and say "See, he shouldn't be playing" after Anderson gets out. I'm sure it won't have anything to do with the 1 AB in 7 previous games. Brian Anderson is this year's McCarthy....where every argument ends up involving him.
  8. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) What.the.f***. Um Ozzie, quit talking out of your ass. Better yet, quit talking period. So WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO PLAY BA DEFENSIVELY? Him in CF and grindErstad to LF make so much sense it isn't funny. You just keep proving your point to KW there, by letting BA sit and rot away because your hand was forced w.r.t. the roster. This is absolutely absurd. Let him keep talking....chances are he'll say something derogatory that gets him fired.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) This keeps getting better. What an idiot. Why didn't he practice this during ST then?
  10. Pods/Anderson/Thome are the 1-2-3 today. No Pablo QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Anderson is in the 2 hole today, Molina behind the plate, Gooch back in the lineup. Not quite sure why we have the black hole batting 3rd in the order vs LHP.
  11. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Oh yeah, did that ball hit right off of Pods head, or did it bounce off the top of the wall then hit him in the head? I couldn't tell. And I put no blame on Pods last night, he did everything he could, and has been the best hitter for this team lately. And he has played so-so defense, which is better then expected. Also, Cintron should have been brought in by Mack. Why in the world would you slap at a pitch low and away!?!?!?! Are you F'ing kidding me Mack!? Runner on 3rd, infield in, so you slap at a pitch low and away? I f'ing hate you now! And Uribe, well, I didn't expect anything less then a K in that AB, but he did, in a very lucky way, drive in the only run, so I won't put too much blame on him. And I am not going to blame the ump for blowing that call. I thought it also hit Pods outside the box at first, and it was a tough call. C.B. Bukner called a pretty good, and fair, game all night. I am not going to blame him. Right now I blame Mack and Jenks. ROB MACKOWIAK SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN HITTING IN THAT SITUATION!
  12. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) Easy fly ball LOl. Was there an error scored?? Who would have caught that ball on our team?? Anderson doesnt have the speed to catch up with that line drive, nevermind the fact that he doesnt play LF. If you thought Pablo would have caught that, to each his own, but not on a prayer. Pods at least gave himself the opportunity to make that play. We lost the game when we can't get a runnner on 3rd at home with ZERO outs. Jenks actually got lucky with that pitch, it should have been jacked into the bleachers for a walk-off. Pods never uses his speed in the outfield. Anderson is so much more graceful and covers a lot more ground.
  13. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) If the white sox are playing some B players on a day game after a night game wouldn't the A's being doing the same. Seems pretty standard. Doesn't Kendall need a rest he cant catch everday. Kendall sucks....I hope he's playing.
  14. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) I agree. I'll be happy when the Sox get rid of Anderson -- it can't happen soon enough. His presence on the roster hurts the team, since it's like playing a man short. I actually think Anderson has some talent, but his bags should be packed and Terrero or whomever Ozzie would be willing play in the 9th instead of Pods should be on the team tomorrow. And, really, Anderson would be much better off starting for the Marlins where he'd have a chance to succeed or fail rather than simply hold the bench down. I'd do anything to have Anderson in the minors and Eduardo Perez on this roster.
  15. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I was referring to Game two of the World Series, in which a very similar sequence of events occurred. You mean when his noodle arm allowed Burke to score on a liner to shallow left field when he had the ball before the runner started for home? QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Yeah, and Jenks shouldn't have given up three hits in the first place. I can argue all day long with you. It's bs to just b**** and moan about certain players or a manager but not others because you don't happen to like them. It started and ended with Bobby, and he even said so himself. There's been plenty of b****ing about Jenks velocity and pitch selection. In reality, this has nothing to do with Pods as a player. Ozzie let Pods down last night.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) But since our hitting is so anemic right now you have to rely on your best defense and pitching scenarios in order to give your team a fighting chance. Ozzie put in his best pitching option and that didn't work out. He did not utilize his best defensive options. If your offense is so anemic, then you better make sure you do everything you can in order to get a run home when you have a runner on 3rd, no outs in the 7th inning. That's the move that really irks me.
  17. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Interesting. I know Sandy has a good reputation with the organization, but wouldn't you think they'd want him to get some managing experience in the minors before hand? Especially if the team is going to go with more youth, Razor seems like the ideal fit. I'm fairly positive that he has a very good relationship with Kenny, but I suppose if Kenny isn't making the call than who knows. Yes, I would say that KW and Razor are closer than KW and Ozzie.
  18. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) Yeah. What do you think the odds are that Razor is the next manager of the Sox? I couldn't see it happening till atleast 2009, but I wouldn't be surprised. Sandy Alomar would be my prediction, and this is just one of my worthless predictions, but we'll either have a new GM or Manager after this year.
  19. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) I'm going to just agree to disagree with you. Try managing or dealing with a staff and then get back to me. You can spout off about professionalism all you want. But there is an art to manipulating a group of human beings that is entirely lost on you. What might have hurt us strictly by bizarre chance last night might help us tenfold in the future by how Ozzie handles some of his players. How hard is that to understand? How is it a bizarre chance? There was a single to the left fielder in which he had a chance to throw out the runner. That play happens numerous times throughout baseball every single night.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) Watch him go 0-4 with 2 K's, the Ozzie backers have a field day, and Anderson is then sent to Great Falls. I've decided that if Ozzie has a personal issue with any of our players, I no longer want that player in the organization. It benefits no one.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) Well maybe Paulie will get a complex about being slow when Ozzie pinch runs for him. So lets keep Ozuna on the bench. Or maybe just maybe Gooch will get suicidal if Cintron starts a game. Maybe AJ will drop dead of a broken heart if someone else hits for him late in a game. Who cares. These are profesionals. Being taken out for a defensive replacement is common place in baseball. The very idea that we have to put a butcher out in the OF in a 1-0 game because of a fragile ego is sad at best. Amen. If anything, Ozzie showed too much confidence in Pods when he let him bat in the 7th inning.
  22. Are we going to end up playing Cleveland in Milwaukee this weekend?
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) I am concerned, but not quite sure what to think. Part of me wonders what his weight loss program was like, and if it cost him either flexibility or strength (or both). If done wrong, a diet can do more harm than good. I don't think Jenks looks any slimmer though.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) I think the last 2 years Jenks velocity has built up throughout the year, so we'll see where he's at later. IMO yesterday was lost based on bad pitch selection. Walker fouled off a solid curveball, and instead of climbing the ladder with the FB (Walker, if memory serves me right, has a high K rate) he went after him with another curve, and Walker made a great swing on it. Walker is a great contact hitter, and it was blatantly obvious on the pitch before his hit that he was sitting back on the curve.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) I'd much rather have him throwing 96+ with poor control of his breaking stuff than 91-92 with good control of his breaking stuff. Well, KW wasn't kidding when he said Masset had simliar stuff at least.
