  1. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Someone on another board said they were an 11 seed on there. I was assuming there was at least one at-large with a 12 or 13. If not, then I'm wrong. Nope, he has them as last team in. A few teams have higher seeds than where they should be due to inter-conference matchups, etc.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) Two leadoff singles. Looks like Matt Sharp running for Dye. That sounds like the name of a jobber wrestler. Am I the only one laughing that at 87 mph, Parque throws faster than Buerhle?
  3. DJ just said Parque was a very nice guy. That goes against everything I ever heard.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) So the most accruate bracketologists(collegeRPI.com) have Illinois in with room to breathe. I thought he had them as the last team in? Also, to add to the leak issue I suggested earlier, Lunardi now has Arkansas in the tournament.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Every team that faces the sox should call up whatever soft tossing lefty they have in the mix, tell the kid to spot the ball low and away and watch the magic happen. But then they'd never get to face Pods.
  6. If we're just going with projections, then I'm still concerned that Sweeney = Sean Burroughs.
  7. What a game....for bettors out there, I can't believe the over/under was 144. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) Almost. Great game. Wonder if it'll back up the selection show It would have to go about two overtimes in order to go past 5. Of course, after the debacle of the GT/WF game a few days ago, you never know.
  8. I smell a Durant buzzer beater, Odom-esque style. Abrams is dangerous here.
  9. Another amazing throw by our outfielders. There's no way anyone has fewer outfield assists the past two years than we do.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) That sun must be beaming on Sweeney because he doesn't appear to have good reads on fly balls hit to him. I was just going to say that I've been disappointed today in how Sweeney is playing defensively.
  11. Something I've noticed with Fields is that he usually looks very good at the plate, and takes big swings. However, looking back at it, I rarely see him actually get a base hit. As he squares up more of these pitches, he'll get better. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) Erstad has played good this spring. And yes...mlb.tv finally working properly. My computer must be f***ed up cause I switched to my laptop and hooked up to the tv and I've had zero lag. Horrid quality on the tv but s*** I'll take it. It's very good that Erstad is playing good, because it's obvious he was going to get a starting spot no matter what. I just hope he can be the type of tough out against other teams like he's always been vs us.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Unless Vazquez becomes a stud this season, and Young becomes a dud... which, IMO, will happen. So Young is going to be a dud, but Fields is the next Scott Rolen?
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) ANd its a much more entertaining than the Big Ten bball. Not to hijack the baseball thread, but I can't see how a recruit would rather play in the Big 10 than the ACC or Big 12 after watching the tourney this wknd.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Make sure you have on ESPN on the other channel. Great game! Every time these teams play, it's a great game. Durant's an amazing player, but I would draft Oden over him for the reason you're seeing right now: Durant's body might make it hard for him to keep his legs for the entire 82 game season.
  15. Pretty awful throw by Sweeney out there. Russell might be tiring, as he's hanging a ton of pitches.
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Add in good movement on a two seam fastball. Just struck out Big Sexy as well. Russell is certainly more projectable than most of our other minor leaguers. They need to work with him on maintain a consistent motion, as he slows his body down a ton on some of his offspeed pitches. Pretty impressive stuff from him though.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) here comes everyones new favorite player Eduardo Perez New? I've been begging for him to be on this club for 3 years. He could realistically be our most dangerous hitter against the likes of Santana, C.C., etc. It would be a shame for him to not make this team.
  18. I didn't think it was possible, but if Anderson doesn't make the big league team, the Vazquez trade gets even worse.
  19. I'm really hoping this was meant as sarcasm.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) Not really sure what the deal is with anyone having Stanford over Illinois. But we shall see. Stanford has been campaigning for a week about how a lot of their bad losses came when their best guy, B. Lopez, was out.
  21. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) And based on what(Not to you, but to those leaving them out)? They have a much better resume than all of these perceieved bubble teams. They are very stong in the 3 most important factors(RPI, SOS, L10). Many of their losses came with their best players out. Anyway, their going to be in. Their not going to leave out a top 30 RPI team from a major conference out. Based on what the most accurate bracketologist is stating. I have to ask you though.....which losses are you referring to with their best guys out? Pruitt and Carter have been their two healthiest players this year, and they're their best guys also. I really do wonder what type of connections Lunardi has to the committee, as his reversals of Illinois and Stanford seem suspicious.
  22. Even though I think Illinois should be in, there seems to be a lot of momentum towards them being out right now.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) They were impressed by his stuff. He's a lefty throwing in the low-90s (92-93) with an unorthodox throwing style. Also showed decent command of a breaking ball. There's no doubt in my mind that Boone has the stuff to be, at the very least, a great LOOGY. Hopefully he can be a little better in between the ears this year. I actually am excited about Logan becoming a lefty specialist over the next few years. I saw him face some of the big time Tampa prospects in AAA last year, and he looked great. He just needs to get some more confidence and experience. As that recent article stated, I don't think Logan fit in on the big league club on/off the field last year.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Floyd probably could use more time in the minors working on his control. I'd really like to see Cooper work with Floyd, and have him go down to the minors in order to work on the stuff and get confidence that he can get hitters out.
