QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Coop must not have sprinkled his magic fairy dust on him yet. But...but....but.....they fixed his tempo! I've said this all along, but until Floyd proves he can pitch in AAA with an ERA under 5, I don't want him anywhere near the big league team. I think Haeger should get the first chance at the #5 spot, but I wouldn't be surprised if Masset makes a strong run. He has the power arm which is going to impress our organization.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Nope. Floyd sprained his ankle in the first inning, after walking Sweeney and giving up an rbi double to PK. So all-in-all, a pretty good start. I'd bet anyone right now that Floyd won't be in the rotation to open up the season.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 04:08 AM) Haha Jimbo, go ahead and post that whole article. That dude's a f***ing hack. Real, real ignorant to say that the OSU/Wisconsin game wasn't 'good' or 'fun' (however he described it). That ass also took an unneccessary shot at Butch. The article was a little over the top, but he said the same thing about Tucker that I was criticized for a month or so back. I'll give Tucker credit though....he's playing better this year than he did last year, where he really did nothing productive but score. You're a Marquette fan....is Dom James going pro? -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) Am I the only one who thinks when Pods gets a hit and the Sox win it speaks more about the opposing pitcher not Pods' influence on the team itself? I think there's a huge correlation between the opposing pitcher and our W-L record. Lets face it, the lefty pitchers are much tougher in our division than the righty pitchers. Thus, of course our record is going to be better when Pods gets a hit, as it's against RHP most of the time. I agree with some of the other people on here....his skills have deteriorated to the point where I can't see how he'll be valuable as a starter. I hope he proves me wrong though.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) Aardsma, the guy KW got to take McCarthy's place in the bullpen, gave up a ridiculous number of gopherballs himself in a very weak NL, but if you read this board, he's unhittable. Aardsma is definitely my pick for most disappointing player this year.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) If it means anything at all, lefties hit Johan Santana at a better clip than do righties Obviously, that really pretty much only applies to Johan, but it's worth noting at the very least. I wouldn't mind seeing Erstad, Mackowiak, Thome, and Pierzynski all in the lineup in games he starts. Ozzie doesn't believe in that though, as he even has told Hawk that he'd rather get beat with as many righties as possible vs Johan. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) Anderson sucked against righties and lefties, its not like he's Eduardo Perez against left handed pitching. I'm sick of the ridiculous love BA gets on this board. The guy was one of the most awful every day starters as a rookie as I've seen in a long time (from the offensive perspective). I think you know that I'm definitely not one of the Anderson's lovers on this board. I would have had no problem if we acquired someone like Pierre this offseason, and sent Anderson packing. With that in mind though, I'll play the percentages of having a righty bat against a tough LHP than a crappy lefty hitter. -
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) So apparently Carwell's BA Level was .00. Um, Brian, why in the blue hell weren't you driving then? I still want to know why they didn't test these two guys for drugs? One of the members on this site seems 100 pct certain that marijuana was involved that night.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) And with that, the White Sox future in the outfield will take a huge hit and the Chris Young trade will loom even larger than before. If Brian Anderson isn't a future starter for this team like the coaching staff originally thought then there have been some major f***ups personnel wise over the past few years. Great post -

Sending Anderson down would make no sense. With all the LHP we face, are we actually going to make Erstad the sacrificial lamb in CF against the likes of Johan, C.C., etc. Like Tony said, I have no faith in Ozzie to handle this the right way. I can't wait for Pods to start off April hitting .100, and everyone to say "it's ok, he's rounding into shape". -
According to WGN, Ozzie said that the CF position is up for grabs between Anderson and Erstad. Erstad also said he wasn't brought in to be a back-up player.

The spin job by the Illini fans is amazing right now. Besides for many thinking that all charges vs Jamar will be dropped, some have even mentioned this will help recruiting because Weber will be looked at as looking out for any African-American athlete who gets in trouble. I couldn't even make up something as stupid as that.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) This just keeps getting worse and worse, and it's not even over. When we have major media affiliations having their top investigative reporters following this story, that's when it gets bad. This story seems to be picking up steam rather than going away quietly.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 02:59 AM) Because it sure seems like he has very little possible chance of being found not guilty, which will strongly motivate his side to plea bargain this out and make it go away. As others have mentioned, it's not likely Jamar with get any preferential treatment in this case. A lot of people in the Champaign area were furious with the way the Head, McBride, Spears robbery case was handled.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 07:29 PM) So you are saying that punishing McBride for say 8 or 10 games instead of 4 that would have deterred the actions of Jamar. I don't see it. I think he should have been kicked out his freshman year. Then, after the DUI, he should have been suspended for the entire non-conference. Weber was way too lenient with these criminal acts in the past, and now he's in a situation where if there's another issue, he's gone. It all comes down to respect, and too many of the guys on the basketball team recently don't seem to care if they disrespect Weber or not.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) Jesus christ people, they're 19 years old, this isn't on Bruce, sorry. These guys can make their own decisions, BW can't be on them 24/7 and he's not their daddy. I think it's to the point where everyone wants to blame everything on Bruce. This is all on Jamar. If he punishes McBride more severly, then maybe he sends more of a "zero tolerance" message to his team. This was nowhere close to Jamar's first issue with alcohol at the school, and that's why I don't buy this is his first mistake. I'm still of the opinion though that Head, McBride, and Spears should have been thrown out of school, and likely into jail, for their burglary.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) I didn't see anything about Brown having a problem with Weber in that piece. I do remember that Weber wasn't happy with Brown's decision to try to go pro the same year as Deron Williams, and there clearly was some bad blood there. It doesn't seem like he's holding much of a grudge though, becuse Brown apparently showed up for the game on Sunday and talked to the team. The Dee stuff is from being around the program and direct communication with him during classes. As I've told others on this board, Weber just doesn't click with the 18-23 yr old group he's been recruiting. One very publicized recruiting target the Illini missed on was embarrassed by how poorly Weber came across during his recruiting visit.
