QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Why do we want that? So he'll leave, and take Cora and Garcia with him. With Ozzie as our manager, I have no doubt we'll keep Cora and Garcia on the team.

The mental midget starting his meltdown two innings early?

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) And that should about do it... We can only hope Ozzie snaps in the press soon and calls someone another derogatory name.

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Crede's hitting .380 with RISP. I think Oz wants to get him a few more AB's with men on. And Coco is hurting the Sox again. Then he should be batting behind PK and Thome.

Nice hanger by Javy. I'm so happy we gave a meatball to Crisp with the s***ty Mirabelli on deck. Keep up the great pitch calling AJ.

BTW...how much was PK out at first by?

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Konerko sucked, but Crede could have easily gotten a run home that inning. Greg Walker should be fired. I don't understand why we moved Crede into the 3rd spot. If Dye is out, then just move Thome back into the 3 spot, PK 4th, and Crede 5th. Of course, this is another game where our lack of a back-up righty outfielder is killing us.

Any estimate on when the rain's going to hit?

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
Listening to the radio, you could predict the PK DP coming a mile away. It's funny, but I was always taught that if you're on 3rd base, you should be running home on contact on any ball hit on the infield.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) I understand the righty, lefty, righty 3-4-5, but why wouldn't Konerko, the superior hitter be batting third? I think he's trying to get Thome/PK familiar with the 4-5 spots they'll be in the rest of the way.

GREAT to see three pulled grounders so far.

It seems like it's been forever since our leadoff hitter got on base to start a game.

Looking at the radar, there's a ton of green in the Boston area, and I'm not referring to Mo Vaughn's wallet at the strip clubs. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) That is indeed the million dollar question. Noting the box score he gave up 2 walks and a hit and had no k's. The game we won vrs the Royals he struck out the side. If he's hurt you use one of the guys,in this case McDougal as you mention, that has closer experience. Maybe they just didn't know he was hurt? Cooper said he wasn't close to 100 pct in the bullpen.

Dustin Hermanson "back"
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Hopefully the White Sox are activating him out of respect for his effort to try to pitch. I hope to God they don't throw him out there in a situation when the game is on the line. Like the tying run on 3rd base, bottom of the 8th, up one with two outs in the World Series? Mercy, what was Ozzie thinking?

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
We had escaped the injury bug all season. In the last few weeks now, we've had Thome, Dye, and now Jenks get injured. Hopefully the Dye injury is only a few days. If MacDougal has to become the closer, we desperately need another reliever not named Thornton to step up and show a pair.

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Had Ozzie let Thornton pitch the ninth and allowed to tie the game, just as it happened, everybody would be wanting Ozzie's head on a platter. The guy just can't catch a break. This team is what it is and will struggle to the end. Will it be enough, time will tell. If there is a player that is too injured to perform on the field, then it's Ozzie's job to not put that player on the field. Especially with someone like Jenks, who has such violent torque on his pitches, a hip problem is something that could completely alter his delivery and cause arm/elbow problems. In no way am I blaming Ozzie for bringing him in though. It is the responsibility of Jenks or the bullpen coach to alert Ozzie that he's not feeling good. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) A 25 y/o with hip problems. That's promising. and a screw in his elbow. I'll be stunned if Jenks is pitching in the majors when he's in the 32-33 year old range. That's sad to say, as he's one of my favorite pitchers to watch in baseball over the last 10 years.

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) And the Score just reported Bobby is out for the series. An ailing hip is the reason why. If ever the Sox needed a miraculous start from Vazquez, it'd be tonight! I'm really not sure why we put him on the mound last night if he was in as bad of shape as Cooper made it out to sound.

GAME THREAD: White @ Red
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Catching all the breaks, aren't we? Come on, it's not like the Red Sox fans are going to be energized by his return.
-
Dustin Hermanson "back"
Last I heard he was around 85 mph with his fastball.
-
Ryan Sweeney to start in RF tonight.
Cooper said that Jenks has a sore hip, and he was in no way 100 pct last night when he was in the bullpen. If he was only throwing 91 or 92 mph in the bullpen, maybe we should have kept Thornton in the game? That's not Ozzie's fault though. Dye actually has been swinging for the last 5 games or so like he has a tight back. He hasn't been as flexible at the plate as he had been.

And That's a White Sox Loser
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 04:03 AM) Personally, I think it probably is the couple things you mentioned. Wasn't last year his first year relieving? It seems to me he was never a big innings guy even when he was starting. Maybe all the appearances are taking a toll, and the bigger factor to me was his attempt to put Old Country Buffett out of business all by himself last offseason. He's fat. I hope the Sox monitor his weight this offseason. But I'm with you, watching Zumaya on ESPN last night consistently go 100,101,102 made me wonder what happened to Jenks 100 mph heater. Bobby has gotten his curveball over and at least close enough to swing at with 2 strikes this season. If not for that, his ERA would probably be 4.50-5.00 IMO. Great response....I was actually thinking in the hour since I posted the question to you about how Zumaya seems to be pretty consistent in his velocity. And just like you said, Jenks best pitch is his curveball this season. He rarely throws his fastball past people for strike 3. Rather, he sets up his curve by getting a called first pitch fastball, and then the batter will foul off the fastball. If he gets 2 strikes without throwing his hook, the hitter has no chance.

And That's a White Sox Loser
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 03:51 AM) His whip and baa are better than Bobby Jenks, and his era is only 0.02 higher, and the guy probably thinks Thornton sucks and Jenks is the greatest. DA...what's your opinion on the Jenks and his lack of consistently velocity this season? He's only been in the real high 90s about 1/5 of the games he's been in. Last year, he was in the very high 90s a lot more often? Do you think it is due to just wear and tear on his arm over the year, or might his conditioning be preventing consistent performances? He's had a very good season this year, but I hope he can hold up the rest of the way. He went from having his best stuff of the season (Sat night) to his worst tonight.
