  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) In the beginning of the year, he would have dropped it. Just making the catch qualifies as 'much improved'
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Despite the popular opinion, Pods' defense is much improved over what it was in the beginning of the year. You might want to watch the replay before stating that.
  3. QUOTE(PA32R @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) On the good side though, Detroit had two on nobody out and failed to score. Tell that to someone who wants the Tigers to lose. Vazquez is going to have a long night with all these fly balls. Good job Scotty! Terrible jump, but at least he caught it.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) Ugh. It woulda been nice to bunt with GOoch in the first. Get some mo. Hernandez isn't a K pitcher at all. Iguchi should have been able to get Pods over. I agree though, the momentum would have been very nice.
  5. QUOTE(jenksd @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) i don't think Runelvis has thrown one. And still hasn't.
  6. I don't think they've swung at a single strike this inning.
  7. Time to get that run back. If we're patient against Hernandez, we're going to get some pitches to crush.
  8. Vazquez better start getting his offspeed pitches over the plate.
  9. Everything's been up in the air against Vazquez so far. It was just a matter of time before one left the park.
  10. QUOTE(PA32R @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) Ugh. Hate wasted lead off double by Pods. Though according to gameday, Konerko and Dye hit the ball hard. Dye's was an absolute missile.
  11. Yuck. I'm kinda surprised Cintron isn't playing tonight, as he crushed Hernandez last time.
  12. Good start! Forget the small ball here, and go for the juggular.
  13. Lets get some early runs here, and keep the momentum rolling.
  14. We need Vazquez to come out there tonight and not implode. If he can give up 4 runs or less tonight, I love our chances of winning.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) wow. I'm dumbfounded by this sentiment and it seems to be pretty pervasive. I guess the scars of July still linger. I'm rooting for the Sox to win the division and have the best record in the AL and homefield throughout the playoffs and world series. Call me crazy. I seriously think the Sox could be in the midst of a 9-10 game win streak right now. I also think the Tigers are on the ropes and I want them to stay there. If this were the last week of the season and the Sox were all but mathematically eliminatd from winning the division, then I would root otherwise. Texas is playing good ball right now and the kitties host them for 4 games starting Thursday. I think they will get a split, at best. If we go into the HHH dome and deal I seriously believe the Sox could be in first place in the division going into the four game series at Detroit next week. How could you want it any other way? Resigning yourself to the WC after a sweep of Detroit? yikes. It's real simple....you can't win the World Series if you don't make the playoffs. Right now, we have a better chance of winning the Wild Card than the AL Central. With the Yankees playing the Red Sox 5 times this upcoming weekend, we're in a good situation to go up by 5 games or so on them.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 04:36 AM) Fathom knows what I'm ensenuating. And I bet there are Tigers fans who are close to shouting out the same stuff. I'm sure a lot of them are pissed they didn't get Soriano at the deadline, and some of them are annoyed with the Casey deal over Shelton. I'd also like to thank the Tigers for playing D. Young over Thames now.
  17. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) I'm surprised. Clearly I'm in the vast minority here but I root for Detroit. I know it's nice to say "division champs" but to me the most important thing is making the playoffs. We have a great shot at Detroit but when it comes to the wildcard we control our destiny. We are ahead of Boston and the more space we put between us, the closer we are to guaranteeing the PLAYOFFS which is the important thing. Now that Liriano is done, Minny doesn't scare me, so Boston is the primary wildcard contender. If we sweep KC (which I expect) and Detroit sweeps Boston, we'll be 5 up in the wildcard. I'm rooting for the Tigers to sweep.
  18. I have no clue how he fouled that pitch off.
  19. Very nice job by Jenks of making sure he got that offspeed pitch over. Inge has been popping up a ton this series.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Uribe needs to learn to back off of that. Let the OF catch it. Yep, if he can't catch it, then he needs to get out of the way.
  21. Some more bad communication out there. I'd bring in Jenks now.
