  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) straight change. I thought it was a slider.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Konerko needs to remind himself, that a late inning AB does not always have to result in a home run. You can hit a double and keep the line moving for the other good hitter behind you Jermaine Dye. We're seeing the PK bat smash/shoulder shrug a lot recently.
  3. That would have been a huge insurance run. Jenks has some very tough hitters here.
  4. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) We'll probably just see Logan and Tracey be called up. Oddly enough, Logan has been almost unhittable lately. 17 IP 9 H 4 BB 27 SO Someone who saw him pitch a few days ago said he looked great.
  5. Last time PK faced Grilli with two guys on, he hit a 3 run homer.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) You think Logan and Trace will come up? Charlotte's gonna go for the AAA title. Sometimes orgs won't mess with that. But we're going for a World Series, I think we're going to be more proactive calling up guys than in the past due to all these games in a row.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Fact of the matter is we can't go all season with that, but I think the plan (if the team gets into the post-season) will be to use the pen a lot in the playoffs (as opposed to last year) unless our starters turn things around before than. Otherwise tell em to go 5 and hope our pen arms can do the rest. We're only 3 weeks away from Sept. call-ups, so that might help our bullpen cover those innings.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) The Angels were able to use a strong pen to get them a world series title. There rotation that year was horrid, especially in the post-season, but they got 5 or 6 innings out of the starters and than just turned it to the pen and came back. Exactly, a 5 inning, 3 ER game might not look good in terms of ERA, but that will keep you in every game. That's why I get so frustrated when Ozzie leaves the starters in, and they go from 6 innings, 3 ER to 6.1 innings-5 ER.
  9. No matter how good or bad Pods is going, he still has to hit at least one ball to the first baseman per game.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) THIS is why Kenny Williams did a damn fine job dealing this year. Find us a 4th outfielder, and I'd agree.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Thus far I think this is what Kenny is hoping we can do a lot more often with our pen. Of course we still need Big Bad Bobby to come in and do his thing for an inning. And of course, you can only do what we're trying to do with our pen if you get good starting pitching.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) But he cant hit for average, and is bascially Rob Deer with some speed over at 3rd. I never said his baseball stuff was impressive. He's a solid player though.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Hopefully, that's up to Cooper now. Mechanics, mechanics, mechanics. Do have to note that Cooper's pitchers seem to have a pretty decent record of staying healthy over the last few years, except for the guys who are already injured when he gets them (El Duque, Hermanson). While I agree with this, some guys just put to much torque/stress on their elbow and shoulder. It will be interesting to see how he pitches for us. I wouldn't mind if we only use him once a series.
  14. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) i guess they must have been talking about him on TV. i remember hawk talking about him being able to drive a golf ball 400yds. that's insane. He can dunk a basketball, and he kicked a 50 yard field goal at Ford Field.
  15. Good thing he used two hands. That ball almost popped out.
  16. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) How MacDougal can throw a two-seamer that fast boggles my mind. 97 with movement, sheesh. Yep, his stuff is very impressive. We just need him to stay healthy. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) inge stuff? His athletic ability.
  17. Excellent job by MacDougal. That Inge stuff is insane.
  18. Some good observations about the squeeze in the last few posts.
  19. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) there is absolutely no reason to squeeze there I just had a feeling Ozzie was going to try and get cute.
  20. STUPID! You don't do it on the first pitch.
  21. Yes! Great job by Sandy. I wouldn't be shocked if we see the squeeze now. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Sandy was always good in situations like that. He had a few walk-off sac flies for the Sox.
